Esquerda ou direita: elaboração de um teste psicológico que meça alinhamento político no cenário nacional

Abstract

During the 18th century, at the height of the French Revolution, the terms "right" and "left," related to the political spectrum, were coined. Over the centuries, these words have acquired new meanings, been distorted, and even used as insults. In order to measure political positioning, some scales have been developed, such as Adorno's F-scale. However, there is no valid psychological test in Brazil capable of measuring political alignment in general. In this sense, the present study aimed to fill this gap in Brazilian psychometrics: for this purpose, a political alignment scale was developed, capable of classifying individuals as "left-wing" or "right-wing," either in milder degrees, that is, closer to the center, or more aligned with the political poles.
