Resumo

Objective: analyze the dimensions of quality of life, indicated by the WHOQOL group, through quantitative, qualitative measurement and perceptions of adult and elderly women, according to participation in social interaction equipment offered to the elderly public, in a city in the interior of São Paulo. Method: cross-sectional study with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The sample was composed of sixty women aged 45 years or older who attended and do not attend social and leisure equipment’s in the interior of São Paulo, they participated in the period from December 10, 2019 to May 2020. Semi - structured interviews were conducted for data collection. For data analysis, the Kruskal test was used -Wallis in the absence of normal distribution of variables. The level of significance adopted for the statistical tests was 5%. The content of Bardin was used to analyze qualitative data. Results: The present study showed a significant correlation between the group that participates in social and leisure activities with the best quality of life. In addition, the study pointed out evidence and perceptions about the concept of quality of life, demonstrating the difference in the lifestyles of women who do not attend social and leisure facilities from those who do. Conclusion: We conclude that both quantitative and qualitative data indicated that attending social and leisure facilities is directly related to quality of life and that sociodemographic conditions such as age, education and income contribute to different perceptions about the quality of life of elderly women.
