Resumo

Taking as theoretical basis the studies of cultural-historical psychology and bilingual education and from a rescue of my personal history as an indigenous bilingual speaker of Portuguese as a second language, and narratives and testimonies of a deaf person who speaks Libras as his natural language - and who also has Portuguese as a second language - I have as objectives in this work: 1) To report my experience regarding the learning of the Portuguese language; 2) To understand the trajectory of the deaf person as a Libras speaker and, how the use of his language can result in the formation of his identity and in his social inclusion; 3) To analyze the two experiences to understand and reflect on the processes of cultural and linguistic valorization of different socially discredited languages in relation to the use of the Portuguese language in the country. The research is relevant because it addresses two differentperspectives, the first is a perspective of personal trajectory as an indigenous speaker of the mother tongue Pano, who studied in a non-indigenous school, in which the language of formation is Portuguese, and how these gaps bring social reflections in (my) identity and cultural constitution; on the other hand, in the second perspective, I analyze the sign language (Libras) and its relations with the Portuguese, along with the personal experiences of a deaf man chosen to report his trajectory, to highlight the key factors in the strengthening of his language, identity and socio-cultural historical process. Thus, the goal of the work, by drawing possible parallels, was to perform an exercise of approximations and departures from the studies on appropriation of Portuguese as a second language by indigenous people and deaf people, adding to the literature of Deaf Studies more specifically and, more broadly, to discussions on bilingual / bicultural education in the country.
