Resumo
This study addresses Citizen Science and the co-production of knowledge, its dilemmas and tensions in the face of the growing Open Science movement, on the one hand, and, on the other, the demands for data and knowledge protection, intertwined with epistemologies, methods, ethics, and interdisciplinary praxis. Its objective is to partially understand the theoretical-conceptual scope of Citizen Science and theories of the ethical and legal aspects of the co-production of science and its implications involving Indigenous researchers and their original knowledge. The study method is based on bibliographic and documentary research, of an exploratory nature with a qualitative approach. An opinion survey was also conducted with Indigenous students from UFSCar (Federal University of São Carlos) using an online questionnaire to collect these students' perceptions regarding the topic. As a result, the study presents the paths that have been envisioned for the construction of an interdisciplinary epistemological approach. It also presents an overview of how indigenous students have perceived issues related to open science and citizen science, as well as the issue of knowledge co-production and legislation on the protection of indigenous data and knowledge. It concludes that the study presents promising indications regarding citizen science and knowledge co-production as possibilities for achieving greater success in the critical perception of reality, through the involvement of different social actors, the adoption of more inclusive investigative methods, and thus contributing to the construction of critical and reflective dialogues that enhance sustainable social development.
