Resumo
BIM is a way of conceptualizing the built environment in a holistic manner, improving all processes throughout the building lifecycle. However, the BIM modeling process is highly complex due to the large amount of information incorporated into the model. To increase efficiency and reduce errors in this process, it is common to develop routines and plugins that automate BIM modeling tasks. These automation tools, however, often do not follow standards that enable a high level of interoperability among them. Therefore, this study aims to analyze how BIM software described in the literature is developed for process automation, enabling the identification of intersections and incompatibilities, as well as the potential and limitations of implementing such software within BIM technologies. To this end, a systematic literature review was conducted, followed by a content analysis of 83 articles. The results indicate that the most interoperable software are those without a strictly defined general-purpose use, that is, those designed to address specific model-domain applications. Additionally, there is a noticeable trend in the adoption of programming languages based on their ease of use and their suitability for particular stages of the building lifecycle. Thus, it can be concluded that there is significant potential in the use of such software, and that interoperability can be enhanced through the standardization of their development processes.
