Resumo

The term burnout encompasses three symptoms: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal derealization. In medical students, the estimated global prevalence of burnout is 44.2%, which is considered high when compared to the student population of the corresponding age group. Therefore, as it is a prevalent disorder and related to psychiatric comorbidities and impairment of professional performance, the present course conclusion aims to study the risk factors, incidence, complications, and possible strategies for preventing burnout in Brazilian medical schools. A brief bibliographic review was carried out through the PubMed platform, based on eight articles chosen as suitable for the research. As inclusion criteria, studies published in the last five years were selected, classified as systematic reviews or meta-analyses, having as object of study only medical students, restricted to the western hemisphere. In addition, to enrich the reflection on the subject, the proposal is associated with executing a reflective memorial relating the trajectory in graduation in the medicine course of the Federal University of São Carlos, in the period from 2016 to 2022, with the object of study.
