Resumo

The present final paper, linked to the research project conducted by Prof. Dr. Luzmara Curcino, entitled “Proud readers, ashamed readers: emotions in discourses about reading” (FAPESP 2020-03615-0), had as main goal to raise and constitute a specific corpus of statements about reading, obtained from comments, called 'reviews', carried out by users of the Skoob digital platform, analyzing certain discourses about reading and certain representations of readers, in particular those related to the expression of 'shame' about the reading of Paulo Coelho's works, national author known for having his works delegitimized as literary texts, very successful among the wider public, but facing a discourse of refusal, criticism and distance from “ideal readers”. We analyzed all the reviews available on the social network, referring to each of the author's works, and we selected those that presented greater regularity in what they enunciated and in the way they enunciated this 'shame' related to the reading. With this purpose, we observed specific linguistic structures, the lexicon used in the syntactic structures, as well as the themes brought into light, all of these as direct or indirect forms of expression of this emotion of 'shame'. For the analysis, we relied on the principles of French Discourse Analysis, as well as on studies developed by researchers from the Laboratory of Reading Studies (LIRE) - CNPq/UFSCar, dedicated to the analysis of discourses about reading and about the brazilian reader.
