    With the pandemic and the suspension of face-to-face activities, education needed to adapt to the new reality, so each educational institution sought ways to continue with their academic activities. Therefore, the objective of the research is to investigate the challenges faced by deaf teachers in emergency remote teaching at a public university and to identify the educational practices adopted during this period. The research was based on a qualitative exploratory method, commonly used for little explored areas and involves a bibliographic survey, interviews and a case study. As a data collection instrument, an online questionnaire was applied, with 26 mixed questions (open and closed) translated into Libras. Seven deaf professors aged between 30 and 51 years old participated in the study, all working in higher education. The collected data were distributed in three axes of analysis (a) Institutional support and work relations; (b) Challenges encountered during remote teaching, (c) Strategies used to overcome the challenges. The results indicate that the participants faced numerous challenges in their performance during the pandemic, not only imposed by the linguistic difference, but when considering aspects of social isolation, face-to-face interactions, so necessary for the deaf, became even more important. scarce, making teaching more complex. The unpreparedness to work remotely was imminent and added to the difficulty of accessing training contents, which are normally developed for hearing teachers and not for deaf teachers, as well as digital platforms and tools. Despite the challenges encountered, the teachers spared no effort to find teaching strategies that best suited their needs, in the quest to ensure the continuity of teaching. The study leads us to reflect on the quality of accessibility in virtual learning environments, and the level of access that deaf teachers have in terms of guidance and training by educational institutions.

    Brazil as a country among the 4 largest consumers of cosmetic products in the world, and the growth of this sector generates the need for improvement and development of cosmetics, among which the capillaries and for this, it is necessary to know the product through technical analysis. This work aims to expose and understand the main analytical methods aimed at oxidative hair coloring that will be able to characterize and qualify the product, both for the final consumer and for its knowledge and improvement. Among the analyses, we have the organoleptic ones, which include the appearance, odor and color tests, which aim to observe the behavior of the sample making use of the human senses, they are essential because these factors are the ones mainly observed by the color users, so they dictate the product functionality. In addition to these, we have the physical-chemical tests which are able to provide technical data on the sample, such as pH, viscosity, density, among others, which are important for regulation and quality control of the cosmetic. Therefore, there is a need for analytical tests that allow greater technical knowledge about the product, taking into account that hair is a complex matrix and it is necessary to have a foundation about the compositions that will be applied on it.

    The present final paper, linked to the research project conducted by Prof. Dr. Luzmara Curcino, entitled “Proud readers, ashamed readers: emotions in discourses about reading” (FAPESP 2020-03615-0), had as main goal to raise and constitute a specific corpus of statements about reading, obtained from comments, called 'reviews', carried out by users of the Skoob digital platform, analyzing certain discourses about reading and certain representations of readers, in particular those related to the expression of 'shame' about the reading of Paulo Coelho's works, national author known for having his works delegitimized as literary texts, very successful among the wider public, but facing a discourse of refusal, criticism and distance from “ideal readers”. We analyzed all the reviews available on the social network, referring to each of the author's works, and we selected those that presented greater regularity in what they enunciated and in the way they enunciated this 'shame' related to the reading. With this purpose, we observed specific linguistic structures, the lexicon used in the syntactic structures, as well as the themes brought into light, all of these as direct or indirect forms of expression of this emotion of 'shame'. For the analysis, we relied on the principles of French Discourse Analysis, as well as on studies developed by researchers from the Laboratory of Reading Studies (LIRE) - CNPq/UFSCar, dedicated to the analysis of discourses about reading and about the brazilian reader.

    Among the various processes of sheet metal formability, the folding stands out for its simplicity and replicability, being considered a of the most recurrent operations in metal sheets. In addition, mathematical models were developed providing the understanding of the variables of this process. Thus, the present study sought to explain and calculate equations found in the literature related to some bending parameters, clarifying their influences on the magnitude of the bending force, the recovery elasticity and the force generated at the support points, which can have negative effects such as localized deformation, markings and cracks. The chosen parameters were divided into groups, as follows: related to material properties (limit of yield, tensile strength and elastic modulus), the dimensions of the sheet (thickness, length and width) and to the matrix (U-shaped, L-shaped, V-shaped and their channel opening widths). To help the interpretation of negative effects and numerical results, the mechanical properties (included in the studied property range) of eight types of hot-rolled steel sheets (low carbon, microalloyed and stainless steel) commonly processed by bending were used. It was verified that the magnitude of the maximum bending force reached comes from the higher mechanical properties of the materials, due to the increase in the dimensions of the plate, by the use of a V-shaped matrix with the smallest possible channel opening width. It was shown a greater magnitude of the force generated in the support points of the plate, when added they can reach twice the bending force. The springback was demonstrated by the internal radius of the bend after this phenomenon, presenting small variations that were studied. In view of the above, all the results were discussed and solutions to the problems encountered in this process were proposed.

    The emergence and growth of new social concepts leads the industries to make a series of changes to adapt with new user profiles, safety requirements, and environmental awareness. The use of fossil fuels is increasingly seen as a threat to the environment because it is a non-renewable energy source and also because of the emission of pollutants through the burning of these fuels. With this, the market for electric vehicles is growing, seen as the best alternative to replace internal combustion-powered vehicles. Recent developments in electric vehicles have allowed them to reach a level of performance, comfort, and safety that enables them to compete with traditional vehicles. The biggest difficulty for electric vehicle manufacturers is related to autonomy and energy efficiency. Therefore, several studies are directed towards increasing the autonomy of these vehicles, aiming at an increase in the efficiency of the electric motors and components, and weight reduction of structural components. Aluminum alloys are increasingly being chosen for the production of structural elements, due to their low density and good mechanical and corrosion properties. The 6000 series alloys are often used in chassis and bodywork. In view of this, this work proposes a comparison of 6000 series alloys, under T4 and T6 heat treatment conditions, by means of thermodynamic (using Thermo-Calc® software) and property simulations (using Granta/Edupack) in order to select the best alloys taking into account application properties, processability, and environmental impact. In this comparison it was observed that, in general, the T6-heat treated alloys present better results in terms of mechanical properties, but, on the other hand, they have more impact on the environment. As such, the 6010-T6 alloy was classified as the best in terms of performance, the 6061-T4 alloy the best in terms of processability, and the 6009-T4 alloy presented the lowest environmental impact. Taking a more general view, the 6111-T4 alloy was highlighted as the alloy showing the best performance/processability/ environmental impact balance.

    Quasicrystalline phase former aluminum-based alloys have been drawing attention due to their characteristics of composite material, with a ductile matrix with quasicrystalline reinforcement of high hardness, showing mechanical strength at high temperatures. These composites are promissory mainly to the automobilist, aerospace industry and applications that require a thermal and electrical barrier, anti-corrosion and non-stick. Such characteristics are only possible due to the presence of quasicrystals phases (QC), which have an intermediate structure between the amorphous and crystalline. For the case of metastable QC-forming aluminum alloys, high cooling rates are needed so that QC phases can be formed. A process that allows the formation of metastable QC phases is gas atomization, however, this process turns to restrict the straight application since it produces a powder material. Therefore, it is necessary an additional process step to obtain a bulk geometry. In this context, the present work proposed to produce samples of the quasicrystalline phase former Al95Fe2Cr2T1 alloy, through Hot Uniaxial Pressure (HUP) of powder; a study doesn’t exist in the literature so far, with parameters of temperature (350, 400 and 450 °C) and pressure (1 and 1.5 GPa). Characterize its microstructure and mechanical properties and, finally, compare the reported results for the same alloy that was processed by Selective Laser Melting (SLM). The characterization of the produced samples by HUP included the quantification of voids, analyses of X-ray diffraction (DRX), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), microhardness Vickers, compressive mechanical tests, and fracture surfaces analysis. The minimum porosity of the samples was 0,3%. The DRX and DSC results have shown that QC phases suffer decomposition, mainly with the increase of the compaction process temperature. SEM reinforced the DRX and DSC results, showing the presence of spherical regular phases that decompose into irregular rosette-shaped phases, mainly when the temperature is increased. The optimized sample (450 °C and 1,5 GPa), obtained a compressive stress of 577 MPa, compressive strain of 30% and hardness of 130 HV. Through comparison of the results, the SLM process reported in the literature, demonstrated to be a more promising route to Al95Fe2Cr2Ti1 alloy, once it obtained samples with less porosity (0,05%), higher QC phase stability, which has shown to be significantly more refined, resulting in compressive strength of 792 ± 38 MPa at room temperature with 37 ± 8% of compressive strain and a microhardness of 180 HV.

    Oil is a source of fuel that has enabled one of the greatest cultural and economic transformations since the period of the first industrial revolution. However, it is also one of the biggest environmental problems, in addition to being frequently impacted by political issues. Its relevance increases in the interwar period during the 20th century, with the growth and increase in automobile productivity. In this context, Materials Engineering has the challenge of being what it proposes: a means to an end in other Engineering schools. The application of advanced high strength and low density steels therefore becomes a necessity. However, the area lacks in-depth studies so that it can be used on a large scale. To serve as a basis, the present work focused on the existing literature, counting on reading approximately 25 articles and book chapters. In addition, based on one of them, three Fe-25Mn-(3-8)-Al-C alloys were selected for evaluation of the formed phases and density, both as a function of temperature using the thermodynamic software Thermocalc®.

    Although late, structural masonry gained ground in the construction processes used in Brazil, mainly due to its high level of rationalization and greater speed of execution when compared to the traditional construction system (reinforced concrete and sealing masonry). However, to guarantee the advantages of this process, it is necessary that the means of execution get improved, in order to achieve the greatest possible efficiency. In addition, it is essential that there is a correct technological control of the procedures and materials used to ensure the safety of structural masonry buildings. However, it is seen that in many constructions these requirements are not correctly followed, often because they are seen as onerous or irrelevant, especially when applied to small buildings. Thus, this work aims to identify the main methods of execution and control of structural masonry works for one-story houses and to assess (through standardized forms) whether the actions taken by construction companies in the interior of the state of São Paulo follow the instructions of the updated Brazilian standard NBR 16868-2/2020. Using the case study methodology, the level of service of companies of different sizes to the demands of current technical standards was verified and the forms of management of companies linked to the execution and control of works were analyzed. In the end, it was noticed that companies with more market experience tend to meet the execution criteria better. Construction companies that undergo audit processes are more concerned with control procedures through laboratory tests. In general, the potential of structural masonry is still not fully achieved by the builders of single-story houses.

    Avaliação dos efeitos da microadição de NbB na solidificação da liga de alumínio 2017

    The 2017 alloy, based on the Al-Cu system, is widely applied in the manufacture of structural parts in the aeronautical and automobile industries. In this work, the modification of this alloy through the addition of Nb and B was studied, which was done through the use of an Al-5%pNb-1%pB master alloy. Samples of alloy 2017 and alloy 2017 + NbB with thicknesses of 3 mm and 4 mm were produced by the centrifugal casting technique, thus providing high cooling rates. Mean grain sizes and interdendritic spacings were measured for the alloys with and without addition of Nb-B inoculant and with 3 mm and 4 mm thick. Vickers hardness tests were also performed for each of the samples, thus relating the microstructural conditions of grain size and interdendritic spacing of each sample with its mechanical properties. The results show that the samples without the addition of NbB presented a microstructure composed predominantly of columnar grains, while the samples with the addition of NbB presented a microstructure composed largely of equiaxed grains, with a reduction in the average grain size of more than 2 times. The variation in the thickness of the samples did not appear to have an effect on the average grain size. It was observed that the addition of the inoculant Nb-B did not seem to cause a variation in the interdendritic spacing for the samples with the same thickness, however the increase in the thickness of the samples caused a small reduction in the interdendritic spacing. In turn, the results of the Vickers hardness tests indicate that the introduction of the inoculant NbB caused an increase in the mechanical properties due to its grain refining effect.

    Surface heat treatment processes via induction heating has been widely used in industries when wear resistance is needed. This process is analyzed in the present work. Some process variables define the hardness layer to be reached in the part such as the frequency used in the electromagnet coil and the steel composition. The objective of this work was to develop a simple methodology to estimate the expected profile for hardness curves of induction hardened steels processed in a similar way. The definition of process parameters will be discussed, as in the case of power density, where tabulated values are verified according to frequency and penetration depth, using these data to calculate input and output power in the coil. Using the online software “Heat Treatment Guide” and materials found in the literature, analyzes of the cooling curves, the tempering temperature, and the behavior of the hardness curves along the thickness of the pieces were performed. Thus, it was shown that the SAE 1020 steel, which would present a surface hardness after heat treatment of approximately 350 Hv, is very inefficient in the surface quenching process due to its low content of alloying elements. It was found that the process is much more efficient for SAE 1045 steel, which due to a higher concentration of alloying elements (mainly carbon) favored the formation of a hardened surface layer, with a hardness of approximately 750 Hv, presenting a more ductile core (approximately 230 Hv) than other steels. SAE 4340 steel has high hardenability, with the surface layer reaching a hardness of approximately 680 Hv. The AISI S1 and AISI O1 steels would present surface hardness of 780 Hv and 880 Hv, and their cores with hardness close to that of the SAE 4340 steel (455 Hv and 335 Hv, respectively), and the hardenability between the two is different, due to the elements of alloy present in their compositions, which result in a better ability of the steel to form the martensitic phase.

    This work's objective is to present the personal and educational trajectory of it's author, from her childhood and adolescence, highlighting the scholar and familiar contributions from this period, to her choice of studying pedagogy degree and the main knowledge considered relevant for forming as a docent that were acquired through theories and practices during the studies. There was the intention to analyze and contextualize her reports with educational theories, to highlight the lessons learned in each period. Furthermore, this work contains a dedicated section to remarks and reflections about Socioemotional Education, to make explicit the importance of the contents of the optional course "Socioemotional education for children aged 4 to 10 years old", which was highly valuable for her personal and professional training.

    Structural masonry is a constructive system very present in the Brazilian civil construction and continues to growing and updated constantly with new studies and technologies. In this work, the prism/block relationship will be approached and compared with some of the main Brazilian and foreign literature and standards, in addition to the comparison of the coefficients of variation of the units, ungrouted prism, grouted prism, mortar and grout tests. The study was based on more than 37,000 tests carried out by Brazilian construction companies and organized into 873 sets of tests in order to obtain the prism/unit ratio and the coefficients of variation for each type of test using graphs. The results obtained for the coefficients of variation indicate an average of 6.66% and 4.20% for the hollow and full prism tests respectively, and for the 95% certainty value the results were 12.58% and 9, 57%. These coefficient values show significantly lower values than the value used by the standard, 20%. The results of the prism/block ratio were related to foreign and Brazilian standards and obtained consistent general values, being slightly less conservative than the Brazilian standard for the average straight line of the sets of tests results.

    This dissertation was developed and is composed of a scientific text and a study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of the program "Projeto Parceria - Módulo 2" in remote modality. The first study consists of an integrative review of Brazilian and international literature, the objective was to identify and analyze studies the impacts of exposure to intimate partner violence on the mother-child relationship. From the analysis of the 10 articles selected, it was possible to conclude that there are possible damages caused in mother-child relationships by exposure to IPV, with lower quality of the maternal bond, weakening of maternal skills, increased punitive behavior and overprotection, increased of conflicts, parenting practices and damage mother-child relationship in general. Suggesting the need to develop studies that provide knowledge about exposure to IPV and its impacts on the mother-child relationship. Positive parenting is related to parenting practices and their effects, positive parenting practices play an important role in child development. In this context, the second study describes the process of the feasibility of parental program in the remote modality, “Positive education of your children”. For the recruitment of participants, channels such as social media were used. This program has been adapted for the digital platform. Positive changes were observed for some participants as depression, moral behavior, neglect, relaxed discipline, and physical abuse. Most participants rated the intervention as positive, good acceptance criteria, and were satisfied with the program. The intervention appears to be promising and feasible in the remote modality. Some limitations and possibilities for future research are discussed.
