listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Elaboração de indicadores de patentes sobre nanotecnologia aplicada ao agronegócio(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Ramos, Renan Carvalho; Faria, Leandro Innocentini Lopes de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6249236942175363The theme of technological innovation has gained increasing prominence in this capitalist, globalized and competitive scenario from the beginning of the XXI century. The development of technological indicators from patent documents is essential for decision-making more rational and sustainable about technology management. This study aimed to develop patents indicators in nanotechnology applied to agribusiness. For this, they were collected, processed and treated the bibliographic information of patent documents relating to the subjectnanotechnology applied to agribusiness contained in the database Derwent Innovations Index (DII) in the period 2000 to 2009. The bibliometric analysis was used as the method with the support of the Vantage Point software. The results were: 1] patent indicators that indicate which companies and leading institutions in patenting in this area, in particular the application of sensors and devices, and pesticides 2] indicators on technology trends in the sector and; 3] Indicators on the geographical distribution of nanotechnology applied to agribusiness. It is concluded that these results can contribute to decision-making more rational and sustainable in the context of innovation policy of the country.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Atividade ST-DP em crianças típicas e com paralisia cerebral de 5 a 12 anos de idade(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Santos, Adriana Neves dos; Rocha, Nelci Adriana Cicuto Ferreira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2035754554780009; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5007550890728426Background:The isokinetic dynamometer has been considered the gold standard evaluation to measure muscle performance. However, the reliability for passive mode forchildren has not beenreported yet. The purpose was to evaluate the reliability of isokinetic dynamometer in passive mode for children. Methods:Thirteen children (six girls, seven boys), aged 5 to 12 years(age: 9+2years), were evaluated using a Biodex III dynamometer. Each participant was tested twice at an interval of 1 week andperformed five consecutive cycles of knee extension and flexion. The test was performed at 60°/s in the concentric passive mode. The measured variables were average peak torque, averagetotal work, average powerand average time to peak torque. Reliabilities were determined using intraclasscorrelation coefficient(ICC), the standard error of measurement (SEM and SEM%), the coefficient of variation (CV) and Bland-Altman analysis.Findings:It was found good reliability for average peak torque, total work and power, with ICC values greater than 0.86;SEM and SEM% values ranging from 1.54to 407.1and from 5.7% to 8.1%; and CV lower than 15.However, average time to peak torque was not reliable since ICC was 0.16, SEM 0.16, SEM% 35,5% and CV 35. Interpretation:The findings indicate that isokinetic evaluation in passive mode for children without disabilities was reliable for average peak torque, work and power; thereforeit should be considered in rehabilitation protocols. However, a learning process seems to influence variables related to time of contraction, such as average time to peak torque.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Influência da manobra postural ativa e do diabetes mellitus tipo 2 na variabilidade da frequência cardíaca de homens de meia idade(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Moura, Silvia Cristina Garcia de; Catai, Aparecida Maria; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5801652590531684; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1044361149989467OBJECTIVE Evaluate the heart rate variability (HRV) of individuals with Type 2 diabetes, in the supine and in response to active postural maneuver from the supine to orthostatic position, by means of linear and non linear analysis and correlate these data. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Sixteen men with type 2 diabetes (DM) and sixteen control subjects (CG), age-range from 40 to 65 year were studied. The R-R intervals were recorded with a Polar RS800CX for 10 minutes in supine and 10 minutes in the orthostatic position. We assessed HRV using spectral (LFnu, HFnu and LF/HF), symbolic (0V%, 1V%, 2LV% and 2ULV%) analysis, Shannon (SE) and conditional entropy (complexity Index - CI and Normalized Complexity Index- NCI). RESULTS The DM presented higher sympathetic modulation (LFnu) in the supine position than the CG. In active postural maneuver for the variables LFnu and HFnu, DM showed no significant responses. Irrespective of position DM presented lower complexity than CG for SE. The same did not occur with conditional entropy, however, in both groups a reduction in values of entropies was observed with postural change. The reduction in complexity observed by SE was related to an increase in sympathetic modulation (0V%). CONCLUSION Our study showed that DM had higher sympathetic modulation in the supine position, which may be related to less complexity of HRV in this population. In addition, DM did not present the expected response of the autonomic nervous system to active postural maneuver for the variables LFnu and HFnu.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A noite também educa : compreensões e significados atribuídos por prostitutas à prática da prostituição(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Sousa, Fabiana Rodrigues de; Oliveira, Maria Waldenez de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3404769527869004; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8905398833724166This research aimed to understand how prostitutes are educated in the practice of prostitution. This research is developed with the aim of transforming absences in presence, that is, seeking to understand the experiences of this social group that historically has been impelled to invisibility by the hegemonic order. For to think of education through experience and understand the prostitute in the movement of its existence, we use the theoretical contributions of popular education and phenomenology that strengthened the understanding that the process of educating themselves not only through effective intellection, but it is also true of perception and sensitivity. The phenomenon has been focused on the research is process of educating themselves on the night by women engaged in prostitution in nightclubs in São Carlos / SP. To grasp this phenomenon we used the following instruments: the field approach, coexistence, conversations with prostitutes, observation and field notes. The analysis of research is result of dialogue and coexistence with prostitutes and unveiled that through the availability, distrust and resistance, these women develop different educacional processes, such to facing adversity, weaving bonds of cooperation and solidarity, dealing with diversity, breaking gender conventions, make choices and implement actions to meet their needs, to get fancy, among others. There is much to learn with the prostitutes, but for this it is necessary to surround the phenomenon of prostitution and strip off of stereotypes. Only then can we realize that educating yourself in the night appears as praxis to transform reality, to reveal the prostitutes on the move in search to be more. Refuting the position of the victim these women create and experience new ways of being / living / work and reinvent the world, so the story.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Educação no campo : escola do assentamento Monte Alegre(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Gobato, Ana Tatiana Staine Cardoso; Bezerra Neto, Luiz; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4809080593333472; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9750595361523417This research has as its main aim a rural school in Araraquara, São Paulo. Since 2002, this city has a program named Rural School Program that covers three public schools: one in a county named Bueno de Andrada, another one in a rural settlement named Bela Vista and the last one in settlement, the Monte Alegre . The field research happened in the last school, at Monte Alegre . This program keeps working, once it was covered in the Municipal Plan of Education for the decade 2004-2013. When we entered into the Rural Primary School Maria de Lourdes da Silva Prado, we had the aim to discover if the education offered there is a real rural education or if is just an education in the rural area. For this, we ve realized some interviews, with the coordinator, teachers and workers. We ve tried to discover if for these people the education in this school is different or not of the one that is offered in the urban schools. We also tried to understand what this group think about rural education and how some of them believe that this should happen. We ve used some questionnaires with the students, to see if they think there s a difference between the rural school, where they study, and the school in the city, and also about the advantages and disadvantages that these students see in a rural school. What we realized is that even the Rural School Program keeps operating, it s not working as it should, since that in these ten years there re lots of changes in its elaboration. A lot of these changes are inside the municipal education secretary and others are inside the rural schools.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise de demandas decorrentes da educação inclusiva e das possibilidades de atuação do psicólogo escolar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Matos, Selma Norberto; Mendes, Enicéia Gonçalves; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9721621509409225With the implementation of public policies on school inclusion, the number of students with Special Educational Needs increases in the ordinary classrooms. This fact helps to compose a scene in the schools that have displayed the limitations and contradictions of our educational system. Educational actors and authors are challenged to make available and build knowledge capable of responding to the demands of the daily school related to the coexistence and learning in the diversity. Whereas this process of school inclusion is new in the schools and the psychology has a field of knowledge and performance that specifically itself devote to work in the school institution, it is asked: What do the context emerge the teachers demands resulting from the school inclusion? What are those demands and which can they be answered by the School Psychologist? Which contributions can the School Psychologist offer in the perspective of creating inclusive schools? The aims of the study were: to analyze the immediate context where the teachers demands emerge referring to school inclusion; to identify demands of teachers resulting from the school inclusion; to identify demands which can be answered by the School Psychologist; to point out perspectives to performance of psychologist along with the teachers in view the school inclusion. The research is based on a qualitative approach of investigative kind. The participants were: six students with Special Educational Needs and their teachers. The technique of participant observation, field diary, semi-structured interview, and questionnaire were used to the collection data. The results indicate that there are achievements and contradictions in the reality of the schools that are inclusive, advances and limitations resulting from Municipal policy and that the model of performance of the team of special education in the context analyzed can be reconsidered or enlarged. Before this fact, the teachers show demands in the field of action from Public Policy, from the Training, and from demands towards the Psychologist. The psychologist s contributions are going to be essential to answer or remean both the demands towards him, and to help facing the challenges put by inclusion policy and by the constant formation of the teachers, specially that formation which comprises: the critical evaluation of official purpose; the development of social skills, including the collaborative work along with parents and keepers; the construction of critical conceptions about the differences; the building of the collective practices of engagement to prejudices and discriminative attitudes; the study of theories of learning and development emphasizing the mediative possibilities of the teachers in this process. To answer those demands and support the s schooling of the students with Special Educational Needs it is necessary that the psychologist knows the policy and the subjects of special education in order to qualify their formative interventions and their pattern of action can be the collaborative consultation.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A comunidade científica da UFSCar e a comunicação da ciência: um estudo sobre o significado dos eventos científicos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Guimarães, Vera Aparecida Lui; Hayashi, Maria Cristina Piumbato Innocentini; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8818035436308120The theme of this research is scientific communication - especially that of scientific events - considered from the perspective of a scientific community in particular. The theoretical framework is anchored in social studies of science, assuming the assumptions of the sociology of science - in particular the views of "academic science" and "post-academic science" on the scientific community - and scientific communication coming from the Information Science. The research question can be expressed in the following question: what is the meaning that events take science to the scientific community UFSCar according to the different areas and contexts of production and post-academic science academic? This question led to the following hypothesis: the areas of knowledge have different communication patterns of knowledge and these are determined by the specific fields of scientific and production contexts of science. The research aimed to understand the meaning of the scientific community UFSCar attaches to scientific events in different contexts of production of science and specific objectives: a) describe the profile of the scientific community UFSCar composed of researchers from different fields of knowledge; b) analyze the vision of researchers about the meaning of scientific events. From the methodological point of view, this is an exploratory - descriptive study with explanatory features. The approach of the problem is quantitative and qualitative. The target population for the survey consisted of 324 rechearchers, selected from a stratified random sample of an initial universe of 906 UFSCar s teachers until July 2010. The instruments of data collection were the questionnaire online and scriptLattes computational tool used to collect the scientific production of the participants. The empirical data of the survey were categorized and analyzed under the lights of Sociology of Science and Information Science. Because this was an exploratory study, statistical analysis consisted of descriptive study with use of numerical tables and averages. Indicators of scientific production (2008-2010) were subjected to scientometric and bibliometric analysis. The research concludes with a set of results that demonstrate specific features of different areas of knowledge of UFSCar compared the patterns of scientific communication - in particular scientific events, and also highlights specific features of the scientific modes of knowledge production "academic" and "post-academic science".listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O método de máxima Lq-verossimilhança em modelos com erros de medição(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Cavalieri, Jacqueline; Andrade Filho, Mario de Castro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6518161034709249; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4356917080257702In this work we consider a new estimator proposed by Ferrari & Yang (2010), called the maximum Lq-likelihood estimator (MLqE), to estimate the parameters of the measurement error models, in particular, the structural model. The new estimator extends the classical maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and its based on the minimization, by means of the Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence, of the discrepancy between a distribuiton in a family and one that modifies the true distribution by the degree of distortion q. Depending on the choice of q, the transformed distribution can diminish or emphasize the role of extreme observations, unlike the ML method that equally weights each observation. For small and moderate sample sizes, the MLqE can trade bias for precision, causing a reduction of the mean square error (MSE). The structural model has the characteristic of non-identifiability. For this reason, we must make assumptions on the parameters to overcome the non-identifiability. We perform a analytical study and a simulation study to compare MLqE and MLE. To gauge performance of the estimators, we compute measures of overall performance, bias, standard deviation, standard error, MSE, probability of coverage and length of confidence intervals.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Efeito do exercício resistido na cartilagem articular de modelo animal de osteoartrite(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Vasilceac, Fernando Augusto; Rosa, Stela Márcia Mattiello Gonçalves; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1406279816228350; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1220838672192063The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a strength exercise protocol on articular cartilage in animal model of osteoarthritis (OA). Thirty-six rats were divided in 6 groups: Control (C, n = 6), Osteoarthritis (OA, n = 6), Sham (S, n = 6), Control with exercise (E n = 6), Osteoarthritis with exercise (OAE, n = 6) and Sham with exercise (SE, n = 6). The animal model of osteoarthritis was anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) in rats. After 2 weeks of ACLT, groups E, OAE and SE started the strength exercise protocol, three times a week for 8 weeks. We used the Mankin Histologic Grading System, measured the density of chondrocytes, the density of collagen fibers and the expression of collagen type II, chondroitin sulfate and fibronectin. The groups subjected to strength exercise protocol, OAE and SE, had lower values for the Mankin score, chondrocyte density and fibronectin expression and higher values for collagen fibers density, type II collagen expression and chondroitin sulfate expression when compared with OA and S, respectively. Group E was different from group C only in chondrocyte density and fibronectin expression. Therefore, strength exercise changes the content and expression of different articular cartilage constituent, having influence on our animal model of osteoarthritis and provides benefits to the cartilaginous tissue.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A atualidade do conceito indústria cultural : reflexão sobre a educação danificada(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Loibel, Tadeu Cândido Coelho; Zuin, Antônio Álvaro Soares; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5543562307373287; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2954175570744015In this dissertation is presented a discussion about semi-formação (semiformation) from the idea formulated by Theodor Adorno "education by hardness . For this is discussed the actuality of Cultural industry concept, also of Adorno, since the semi-formação (semi-formation) is the expression of this in education, with the contribution of Max Horkheimer, based on the analysis of some criticisms from commentators who are against the vality of the Cultural Industry.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Cinética do consumo de oxigênio e da frequência cardíaca, índice BODE e a influência de dois programas de treinamento físico em pacientes com doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Pessoa, Bruna Varanda; Jamami, Maurício; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8526424235753903The thesis consisted of three studies described below. The study I, entitled: Oxygen uptake and heart rate on-kinetics in patients with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): comparison between cycle ergometry and elliptical equipment aimed to evaluate and compare the kinetics of both oxygen consumption (VO2) and heart rate (HR) in constant work-rate tests on a cycle ergometer (CCT) and on an elliptical machine (ECT) in COPD patients and healthy individuals. Eighteen male COPD patients between 55 and 78 years old with moderate to very severe obstruction (COPD group) and 18 apparently healthy males (control group: CG) were evaluated; the subjects were paired by age and submitted to the following tests on alternate days: 1) symptom-limited incremental cycle ergometer test (IT); 2) CCT and 3) ECT, both at 70% of the maximum intensity obtained in the IT. Expired gases were collected in all tests, and the kinetics of VO2 and HR were analyzed. The COPD group presented significantly higher tau (τ) and mean response time (MRT) for VO2 on the CCT than the CG (p<0.05); however, there was no significant difference on the ECT. Regarding the different tests, the COPD group had a significantly higher τ and MRT on the CCT than the ECT; on the other hand, no differences between the tests were observed in the CG. We conclude that VO2 kinetics are slowed in COPD; however, this depends on the ergometer used for testing. The faster kinetics found on the ECT for the COPD group may be related to the effects of the body position or to higher recruitment of muscle fibers, as well as to the greater ventilatory and chronotropic stress observed in this test. Following, the study II, entitled: BODE index, body composition, peripheral muscle strength and oxygen uptake and heart rate kinetics on a cycle ergometer and on elliptical equipment in COPD patients: there is relationship between them? aimed to determine if there is a relationship between oxygen consumption (VO2) and heart rate (HR) on-kinetics in constant work-rate exercise test on cycle ergometer (CCT) and on elliptical equipment (ECT) with the BODE index and their isolated variables, muscle mass (MM), lean body mass index (LBMI) and with peripheral muscle strength (PMS) represented by one-repetition maximum strength test (1RM) in patients with COPD. Fourteen men patients with moderate to very severe COPD (COPD group), between 55 and 78 years, were submitted to the following tests on alternate days: 1) six-minute walking test (6MWT); 2) IT; 3) CCT and 4) ECT at 70% of the maximum intensity obtained in CPT; 5) 1RM test and 6) body composition evaluation. Expired gases were collected in CPT, CCT and ECT, and response of the VO2 and HR on-kinetics were analyzed. The BODE index was calculated. The BODE index was calculated. The Pearson correlation coefficient (p<0.05) presented a moderate positive relationship between BODE index and τ and MRT of VO2 and HR (r=0.55 and r=0.63; r=0.66 and r = 0.74, respectively); and negative correlation between τVO2 and MRT-VO2 with FEV1 (r=-0.69; r=-0.68), DW- 6MWT (r=-0,.62; r=-0.65) and DW-6MWT %predict (r=-0.64; r=-0.70). Still, significant negative correlations were observed between the τ-HR and MRT-HR with DW-6MWT (r=- 0,.81; r=-0.82) and DW-6MWT %predict (r=-0.83; r=-0.65). Significant correlations between the TRM and τ of VO2 and of HR with MM, LBMI and PMS; and correlations with oxygen consumption (VO2) and heart rate (HR) on-kinetics in ECT were not observed. In general, our data show that patients with moderate to very severe COPD have slowed VO2 kinetics in the CCT compared the ECT. Furthermore, the VO2 and HR on-kinetics in CCT has a moderate correlation with the classification of COPD severity assessed by the BODE index, FEV1 and DW-6MWT, showing that COPD severity, airflow limitation and exercise capacity are reflected by the slowing of the on-kinetics in COPD patients, but it depends on the ergometer. Finally, the study III, entitled: Effect of aerobic/resisted and interval physical training on oxygen uptake and heart rate on-kinetics in patients with COPD: randomized, controlled trial evaluated and compared the effect of aerobic/resisted physical training (TFAR) and interval physical training program on elliptical equipment (TFI) of high intensity on VO2 and HR onkinetics during CCT and ECT in patients with COPD. Eighteen men patients with moderate to very severe COPD, between 55 and 80 years, randomly divided into two groups: nine of the patients had been engaged in TFAR group, and nine in TFI group, were submitted to the following tests on alternate days: 1) IT; 2) CCT, and 3) ECT both at 70% of the maximum intensity obtained in IT, and one repetition maximum test (1RM), being reevaluated after six weeks physical training. program. The TFAR group consisted of aerobic training by thirty minutes, and three sets of fifteen repetitions of resisted training in lower limbs on leg press. The TFI group realized training program on an elliptical equipment, by thirty minutes at 100% of the maximum intensity obtained in IT, separated by 1-min rest periods. The two training groups completed 6 week (3x/week) of exercise training, until completing a total of eighteen sessions. Expired gases were collected in in all tests, and response of the VO2 and HR on-kinetics were analyzed. No significant difference post-training in the TFAR group both tests (CCT and ECT) were observed; but, the TFI group displayed slower VO2 onkinetics (> τ and > MRT) in the CCT and ECT after training. In relation HR on-kinetics, no significant difference in both groups and both constant workload exercise tests post-training were observed. We conclude that the interval physical training program on elliptical equipament lead to slower VO2 kinetics the onset at high-intensity exercise (CCT and ECT) in patients with COPD. Furthermore, the TFAR program is no sufficient to provoke improvements in VO2 and HR on-kinetics in the CCT and ECT.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Discursividades da/sobre a ditadura militar em uma hemeroteca digital(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Lampoglia, Francis; Miotello, Valdemir; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9131819326282708; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5436181249956917This work aims to study the discourse functioning of the brazilian military dictatorship in the headlines and the Última Hora's journal reports, using the french discourse analysis theory, specially inscribed around Michel Pêcheux and the studies of Mikhail Bakhtin. The way the subject is positioned in relation to the military dictatorship and how this positioning is reflected in the digital newspaper libraries that stores the papers constitutes the problem of this study , which has as its theoretical pillars of the sociohistorical conditions of production of meanings and discoursive memory underlying all sayings. Therefore, this work will analyze the corpus of headlines and reports from the collection of digitized periodic Última Hora from 1964 to 1969, copies of which are available on the website of the Public Archives of the State of Sao Paulo. To make a counterpoint, also have added to the corpus of newspaper headlines and reports Folha de S. Paulo (1965), Jornal do Brasil (1964), and O Estado de S. Paulo (1973 to 1974), available in their electronic holdings. Analysing the selected clippings, we can assume how memory and archive discoursive, which are inserted in a certain socio-historical context, inscribes itself in this discoursivity and influences the production of meaning. Note that these movements of meanings in clippings includes a way to think about how language is constantly struck by history, how the senses migrate according to the position the subject occupies as the circulation of words in the headlines and reports newspapers dialogues with the senses in the different socio-historical contextslistelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Encruzilhadas da organização educacional : conceito de administração, de gestão e de gerencialismo na RBPAE(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Silva, Ana Lucia Calbaiser da; Rothen, José Carlos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1942510389127549; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5258083244883097This study aims to explain and categorize the concepts of Educational Administration, Management and Democratic Management within the Educational system presented on the Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação (RBPAE) between 1995 and 2004. Published since 1983 by the Associação Nacional de Política e Administração da Educação (ANPAE) this journal witnessed many historical moments in our society, from which two particular periods stand out: the Administrative State Reform (in the 1990s) and the reestablishment of the democracy (in the 1980s). During these two particular moments the discussion on public management received greater attention. Our study was based on the analysis of the conceptions on Educational Administration, Management and Democratic Management defended by the authors of the articles published on the magazine. This methodology enabled us to understand and categorize these conceivings. The RBPAE was used mainly by post grad researchers acting on the educational field as a means of knowledge source on educational administration, management and democratic management. The presence of these concepts on the Magazine happened because of two reasons: the number of articles and the ideas in each concept. The education management was the most studied subject during the 1980s and mid-1990s. In the late 1990s and early 2000s this trend was reversed and then the articles on educational administration outnumbered the ladder. It was analyzed under two different concepts: administration and democratic management. The ladder was less present on the studied articles. The most analyzed concept was the democratic management, which shows the preference of the Journal for these studies. In some of them the different ideas in each concept brought about some confusion. The educational management was presented as an activity related to the coordination of actions by means of organization, development and evaluation of the process collectively and hierarchically. The democratic management was presented by its political aspect and its main characteristics: the decentralization of power, collective decision-making, communication and technical improvements. Management was presented by the limitation of state management systems and self-regulation with the emphasis on evaluation and outcomeslistelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Avaliação do efeito do extrato etanólico bruto de Harpagophytum procumbens em camundongos infectados com Toxocara canis(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Oliveira, Sandra Regina Pereira de; Anibal, Fernanda de Freitas; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4918261968772806; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7073904078771594The Syndrome of Visceral Larva Migrans (VLMS) is a parasitic disease caused by Toxocara canis, one of the most common helminthes in dogs. In the definitive hosts are present in different morphological forms, embryonated eggs, adult males and females. However, in unusual hosts (humans and rodents), present only in stage infective larvae (L3) and do not complete their life cycle. The infection in man occurs by ingestion of embryonated eggs which release in the small intestine infective larvae (L3), which cross the intestinal mucosa and the lymphatic vessels reach the circulation port reaching the lungs and liver. Larvae can still cross the gut wall actively start a process of erratic migration through different host tissues. The main characteristics of this disease in the chronic phase are eosinofilias blood and tissue and high levels of serum IgE. The immune response of host larvae occurs during tissue migration, where the larvae release antigenic products of excretion-secretion (TES) that protect against host reactions. The TES have a fraction of the allergen responsible for stimulating production and release of eosinophils. In this context, the search for new therapeutic tools that promote less damage to individuals affected by increased systemic eosinophil becomes important. In this study, we evaluated the modulatory activity and anti-inflammatory eosinophilia Harpagophytum procumbens against using the model of experimental infection with T. VLMS kennels. Our results showed that the extract of Harpagophytum procumbens has anti-inflammatory effects in reducing eosinophil infiltration in the blood and washed from the peritoneal and bronchoalveolar at different periods analyzed. The antiinflammatory may be due to the ability of the extract Harpagophytum procumbens decrease the production of factors that favor the proliferation and activation of eosinophils (IL-5, IL-4 and IL-13) during 18, established as the peak of eosinophilia. Furthermore, our treatment decreases the expression adhesion molecules, CD11b, CD11c peak of eosinophilia during infection by T. kennels. The CD40 molecule expression by eosinophils seems to favor the survival of leukocytes, however, would require further investigations that contributed to the understanding of the mechanisms by which the extract of H. procumbens can interfere with the migration of eosinophils into the inflammatory site in this model, since this event is characterized as being complex order.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Mulheres em situação de violência doméstica: o ponto de vista dos profissionais de Unidades Básicas de Saúde(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Leite, Alessandra de Cássia; Fontanella, Bruno José Barcellos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0111581000671476; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2991421471849399The objective of this study was to understand the psychological and cultural meanings of health professionals of Primary Health Care (PHC) on the issue of women in situations of domestic violence served by them including their uncertainties and difficulties. We tried to interpret the views of these professionals, or their ideas, perceptions and concepts with which they work. The research consisted of Basic Health Units (BHU) of a municipality in the state of Sao Paulo. This is a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews, which contents were analyzed for their utterances expressed during these interviews. We tried to close the final number of participants for sampling by empirical and theoretical saturation. In other words, utterances (corresponding to the empirical data "raw") were analyzed, interview by interview, and were organized into categories formulated in accordance with the theoretical view of the researchers, the interruption of data collection occurred when the empirical data did not support anymore the formulation of new analytical categories and also no longer contributed to the deepening of the categories set out above, in the judgment of the researchers. The results are the 14 subjects that after transcribed, correspond to a corpus of 42,336 words. Respondents comprise a relatively heterogeneous group, with regard to trained professionals (nurses, nursing assistant, nurse, doctors, dentists and pharmacists). For each of the pre-made categories, which were translated into the proposed topics to the participants, were formulated analytical categories: themes or types of statements related to the problems surrounding the issue of women in violent situations (understanding of the phenomenon), emerged in these three Categories: About the violence, risk factors, gender issues. In pre-category themes or types of statements related to the first reception and care for women victims of violence were raised three categories: APS and violence against women, Dynamics of the reception and first aid, Notification. In the themes or types of statements related to other procedures to be undertaken in the APS and women in situations of violence fell into two categories: secondary and tertiary preventive measures and Prevention. Finally, the pre-category: themes or types of statements about the possible difficulties in personal and institutional care provided in APS appeared four: Social and psychosocial, educational difficulties, intrasectoral difficulties, and intersectoral difficulties. The work of discussion of these results was performed by means of a gender perspective. It can be concluded from the difficulty of PHC professionals in meeting the women in violent situations, and these difficulties begin to address the woman who is in this situation to the development / implementation of the plan of care. There is a need for intersectoral work of the network to approach these women and full inclusion in school curricula of the problem for society to constantly look for gender equality and so you can prepare your professionals to meet these women. The limits of the research were identified.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Coleoptera (Insecta) em sistemas aquáticos florestados: aspectos morfológicos, comportamentais e ecológicos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Segura, Melissa Ottoboni; Gessner, Alaíde Aparecida Fonseca; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8465752836529703; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5081348804259676The present thesis was drafted to broaden knowledge on Coleoptera, with an emphasis on the family Elmidae, in aquatic systems in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The thesis is divided in four chapters: 1) inventory of aquatic Coleoptera fauna (larvae and adults) in two mountainous regions of the Atlantic Forest in the state of São Paulo, particularly in the Serra da Mantiqueira and Serra do Mar; 2) a taxonomic key for the identification of larvae of genera of Elmidae in the state of São Paulo, with records of new occurrences and their distribution; 3) the use of mesohabitats by Elmidae larvae and adult in forest streams; and 4) checklist of the Elmidae (Coleoptera: Byrrhoidea) of Brazil. Different locations in the state of São Paulo were selected, with the sampling in the Campos do Jordão State Park intensified to achieve the objectives. The collections were performed with the aid of a Surber sampler and complementary methods were used to achieve a broader-scoped survey. The results indicate that: 1) aquatic systems in mountainous regions studied have a huge diversity of Coleoptera, which underscores the importance of preservation and conservation programs in these areas; 2) genera of Elmidae are widely distributed in different regions of the state, with the distribution of some species is restricted to certain regions; 3) the high indicator value observed for genera of Elmidae indicates a high degree of specificity to related mesohabitats and both larvae and adults of the same genus of Elmidae occupy the same mesohabitats in streams; and 4) A total of 148 species named plus 1 unnamed species of Elmidae are cited for Brazil. The results of the present study contribute knowledge on Coleoptera fauna in aquatic systems in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and can be used in biodiversity monitoring and conservation programs.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Incidência microbiana e medidas preventivas de contaminação em superfícies de um centro cirúrgico(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Bardaquim, Vanessa Augusto; Sousa, Cristina Paiva de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9002619114161319; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3726819941269306The composition and concentration of microorganisms are extremely important components to demonstrate the level of hygiene in hospital operating rooms. The information from these strategies can be developed to maintain a biologically safe hospital environment by eliminating the focus of contact and transmission, and thus preventing nosocomial infections that cause a considerable increase in length of hospitalization, morbidity and mortality and thus helping to increase hospital costs, delays the recovery of patients and higher public spending. Another factor is the association of bully resistant microorganisms in hospital infections. Given the importance of the theme of contamination NI Microbial resistance and because there are few studies in Brazil where it may be noted the degree of microbial contamination on surfaces (table medication, surgical table, marble countertops and air conditioning grilles) of an operating room of a medium-sized hospital, the present study was conducted to quantify and identify bacteria and fungi these surfaces and assess the resistance profile to some antimicrobials of bacterial isolates. Samples were collected with the aid of a swab soaked in sterile peptone water and rubbed into quadrants of 20 cm2 surface under study. Hafnia alvei was detected (2,9%), Pseudomonas spp. (4,3%), Shigella spp. (4,3%), Staphylococcus aureus (5,7%), Staphylococcus coagulase-negative (5,71%), Staphylococcus spp. (50,0%) e Bacillus spp (12,9%). All strains of S. aureus showed sensitivity and resistance to Penicillin G, Amoxicillin and Oxacilina. Given this information from contamination of the surfaces studied, presents measures to minimize these contaminants in order to provide or improve the welfare of the occupants of such environments with the implementation of practices and standards based upon current legislation, minimizing the problems that may occur with the health of both employees and users of outpatient services and hospital.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O programa de medidas socioeducativas em meio aberto: vozes e vivências de adolescentes em conflito com a lei(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Gregoracci, Liandra Maris; Onofre, Elenice Maria Cammarosano; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9391211432183878; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3478103637905750This research seeks a deepening of existing discussions with adolescents in conflict with the law and to reveal the way they signify Socio-educational Measures of Assisted Freedom and Community Service. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze and comprehend the socio-educational measures in open environment, probation and provision of community services in the perspective of adolescents in conflict with the law, in the Socio-educational Program in Open Environment (Programa de Medidas Socioeducativas em Meio Aberto), in São Carlos city, located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The qualitative study, an observant participation, intends to establish an interaction between the researcher and the research participants and it assumes that participating in the context with the collaborators is essential to understand the studied phenomenon. The field visits to the canvas painting workshop called Expressarte: Arte em Liberdade were performed weekly, in March and June 2011. By observing and taking notes of the workshops, I could understand the meaning that adolescents attribute to the Program of Socio-educational Measures. Only by taking a role in the group and participating in daily activities I could experience the context in which adolescents are part from their perspective, seeking to better understand relevant aspects of this educational experience. By using different resources such as informal conversations, participant observation and document analysis, the data collection allowed the data triangulation. From the data analysis organized in field diaries emerged some foci of analysis: socio-educational measures in an open environment, the Expressarte workshop and the professionalization, which were analyzed by the Freire, Fiori and Dussel s concepts of education. The purpose was to understand the possibilities of people educate themselves in different social practices and the meaning of the socio-educational system for adolescents in conflict with the law. The deepening of the analysis of collected data in this research will constitute the object of further studies and it will produce discussions that contribute to the process of reflection on the importance of educational measures, analyzed from the perspective of adolescents in conflict with the law.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A regioquímica das reações de Diels-Alder de N-tosil para-benzoquinona iminas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Uliana, Marciana Pierina; Brocksom, Timothy John; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7055452150201902; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5189593236727694In this work it was done a comparative study on the reactivity of a variety of dienophiles including para-benzoquinones, their mono-oximes, their N-tosyl mono-oximes and their N-tosylimines on the Diels-Alder reactions with simple dienes. The synthesis of the dienophiles was performed through chemical modifications from the corresponding phenols as represented in Scheme I. The studies of the reactivity of these dienophiles in the Diels-Alder reactions with cyclopentadiene were the first to be conducted and furnished the corresponding cycloadducts as shown in the Scheme II. The reactivity of the N-tosylimines para-benzoquinones were tested on the Diels-Alder reactions with of the dienes 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene and 2-methyl- 1,3-butadiene (isoprene) (Scheme III). Concomitant to the experimental study on the reactivity of the dienophiles, it was done a study of theoretical calculations where was obtained the differences between the energies of the HOMO orbital of the cyclopentadiene and LUMO orbitals of the dienophiles confirming their reactivity. These calculations were performed using the DFT calculation using the basis set B3LYP/6-31 + G (d,p) and furnished the energies of the transition states of the cycloadducts. It was also possible to predict which cycloaddition product would be mainly formed and to determine what are the kinetic and thermodynamic products. Tests of the biological activity of the dienophiles were conducted in collaboration with Professor Dr: Damião P. de Sousa from UFSE.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Lazer e adolescentes em privação de liberdade : um diálogo possível?(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-29) Conceição, Willian Lazaretti da; Onofre, Elenice Maria Cammarosano; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9391211432183878; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4379323190080771The present study aims for a more consistent approach of the existing debates concerning leisure and the adolescents who committed infractions and are fulfilling socio-educational measures in confinement at Fundação CASA. This is a study of qualitative nature trying to understand the educational processes derived from leisure while a social practice, that should be considered a right for everyone. Five confined youths fulfilling socio-educational measure were enrolled in this study, along all the year of 2011. Data were collected from documentary analyses, observation of participants, semi-structured interviews, and image recordings. In order to build the results, we performed a content analysis in which we could identify three major instances: a) leisure concept; b) leisure activities; c) educational processes. The leisure activities instance (b) was evaluated under three perspectives: before privation, while fulfilling confinement measure, and while fulfilling disciplinary action. The educational processes instance was analyzed under two spots: that resulting from leisure activities in deprivation of liberty, and that derived from institutionalization. Our study makes evident that the adolescents understand leisure experiences as a source of pleasure and playfulness, even when they are mandatory, and that the fulfillment of disciplinary action restricting the participation in activities appears as a possibility for reflection, since it comes associated to dialogues, assuming that dialogues subsidize every educational process, regardless the context where people are inserted.
