To do this, be able to to indicate the exact moment when a given phenomenon changes its pattern of behavior is a very nice feature. This work goes deeper into the theme of detecting change points in series temporal through the use of the SNHT (Standard Normal Homogeneity Test), which consists of a statistical test proposed specifically for this purpose. Some basic statistical concepts and the test in are only explained in detail. The example of the test is performed by applying it to data about the number of drivers killed or seriously injured in traffic accidents in Great Britain. Brittany between the years 1969 - 1984. An experiment, from series of simulated moving averages, will be carried out for that it is possible to get a good sense of the power of the test and its performance. It is analysis will be done through the analysis of Type II Error rates obtained by SNHT. And to complete the study completely, the SNHT will be applied to data referring to the number of new cases of Covid-19 in the city of São Paulo, in an attempt to understand Covid-19's pandemic behavior during its first year.Item type:Item, Utilização de aprendizagem de máquina para classificação de e-mails em categorias relevantes(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-20) ;Silva, Bruno Ferreira ;Levada, Alexandre Luis Magalhães ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3341441596395463https://lattes.cnpq.br/0410389187604892One of the main technology tools currently used to exchange information is the email service. However, managing the high volume of information received is one of the major challenges encountered in using this service in public and private institutions. Automated text classification has been considered an essential method to handle a high of textual information that people have to deal with on a daily basis. Problem solving by electronic and automatic means is increasingly common due to the reduction of manual work and costs. With that in mind, companies that receive support requests via email have been trying to reduce service time by using machine learning algorithms to sort texts sent via email. This study aims to identify the ability of machine learning algorithms to correctly determine categories, using a previously labeled database. The results were calculated as means and standard deviations of the most used metrics in machine learning, as well as the execution time of the four algorithms used. The results showed themselves to be satisfactory and well functional.Item type:Item, Modelo de Séries Temporais Autorregressivo Periódico - PAR(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-20) ;Cavalaro, Natália Leite ;Moura, Maria Sílvia de Assis ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9410151859448447https://lattes.cnpq.br/0280180212825579This work presents the study of a type of time series model, called of periodic autoregressive model, which emerged from the researches of Thomas and Fiering (1962), according to Hipel and McLeod (1994). Its use is mainly in series temporals that present a periodic behavior in the mean, variance and function of autocorrelation. Application examples will also be displayed, in which the time series presents the ideal characteristics of using the PAR model, and how to do the procedure of choice, study, suitability and prediction of this type of model, in addition to being carried out a comparison with the seasonal time series model.Item type:Item, A representação decimal fracionária de números reais: aspectos teóricos e históricos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Abreu, Lia Oliveira de ;Sampaio, João Carlos Vieira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8286887389013685https://lattes.cnpq.br/3090683031903553In this work we carry out a study on the history and concepts of development of the decimal representation of real numbers, which probably started with works by Simon Stevin in La Theinde (The tenth) in 1585 (STEVIN, 1997), having been perfected by John Napier in his treatise on logarithms, Mirifici logarithmorum canonis description (1614). We describe briefly the historical progress of the development of the object of study, also approaching mathematical aspects about the representation of real, rational and irrational numbers.Item type:Item, Acinetobacter baumannii: por que novos antibióticos são necessários ?(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Rios, Ana Luisa Villa ;Nunes, Francis de Morais Franco ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1974857490729279 ;Camargo, Ilana Lopes Baratella da Cunhahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/4104096171600845Acinetobacter baumannii, an opportunistic gram-negative coccobacillus bacterium belonging to the genus Acinetobacter, has gained worldwide importance as a public health problem. This bacterium has an extraordinary ability to remain in the environment for long periods, and to acquire and regulate resistance mechanisms, causing several healthcare-related infections, such as ventilator-associated pneumonia and bacteremia. For a long time, beta-lactam antibiotics were used to treat infections caused by this bacteria. However, isolates that had resistance mechanisms, such as the production of enzymes that alter or inactivate the drug, were emerging and spreading across the globe due to the excess and misuse of antimicrobials. As of the 1990s, the first carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii isolates appeared, limiting the options available for the treatment of infections caused by this bacterium and increasing mortality rates. The World Health Organization classified as critical the urgent need to develop new antibiotics to treat infections caused by carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii. Currently, there are few treatment options on the market or under development for A. baumannii infections, such as polymyxins, tigecycline, eravacycline and cefiderocol; and there are only ten possible drugs in the 2021 antibiotic pipeline. Given the limited treatment option and reduced pipeline, and given the urgency of meeting the current and future needs of patients, it is necessary to prevent the emergence and spread of resistant microorganisms, and encourage and invest in a more robust pipeline to overcome the emergence of bacterial resistance so that there are antibiotics on the market that are effective against infections.Item type:Item, Ensino de ciências da natureza e recursos didáticos para estudantes com deficiência e com transtorno do espectro autista: um estudo bibliográfico(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Leite, Giulia Vecchia Mello de Castro ;Dainez, Débora ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4671868444231806https://lattes.cnpq.br/6687654016115088This bibliographic research discusses a review of scientific works in the field of teaching Natural Sciences on the production of didactic-pedagogical resources in the context of inclusive education. The analysis aimed to highlight the diversity, creation, and use of resources in the teaching and learning process of students linked to special education in basic education. The results showed a higher frequency of studies on making resources for students with visual impairment recurrently tactile-visual models for high school. Among the Natural Sciences, there were more publications in the areas of Biological and Chemical Sciences. In the end, it should be noted that, despite being the public of special education with the highest number of enrollments in schools, the amount of research on the theme focused on intellectual disability, as well as on the autism spectrum disorder, is still scarce.Item type:Item, Análise do potencial biotecnológico do sisal: uma revisão(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Generoso, Gabriel Brito ;Duarte, Iolanda Cristina Silveira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2626035341263254https://lattes.cnpq.br/8511514410391582Sisal (Agave sisalana) is a plant originated from Central America, cultivated in a major part of brazilian semiarid, especially in Bahia region. Its main utilization consists in the defibrament of its leaves for use in the textile industry, in the production of strings, carpets and mats. Only 4% of the plant is utilized in the defibrament, generating a great amount of waste that is discarded in the environment. That waste, however, has very important industrial applications that goes far beyond the textile industry. The sisal waste is a producer of biosurfactants, among it more than twenty exclusive saponins, that are used in several diverse industries. The sisal waste is capable of eliminating disease-vectors mosquito larvae, agriculture plagues nematodes larvae that attacks important agricultural crops and has action against goat, sheep and chicken parasites. It is also a feedstock for biogases bioreactors and an important producer of celullosic ethanol, has a great antimicrobial activity against pathogens microorganisms, it’s a source of inulin and d-Mannitol, two important sugars in the production of diet food, among other uses. The biotechnological potential analysis of this waste proves that there is no reason for that waste to be discarded in the environment, when it can be used industrially. This paper encourages industries to look for more ecological and less expensive alternatives in its productions, economically encouraging the sisal production in brazilian territories, devastated by poverty and human subsistence, as well as stimulating the search for new uses to these products.Item type:Item, O currículo oculto no ensino de ciências: uma análise crítica da Base Nacional Comum Curricular(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Bimbatti, Bianca Rita ;Silva, Antonio Fernando Gouvêa da ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9621931288117213https://lattes.cnpq.br/6192118814923360Historically, school has been used as an important space for social control and maintenance of classes, relying on the curriculum as an important tool for the production and reproduction of values, behaviors and meanings aligned with the interests of the capitalist social and economic organization model. With the neoliberal politics’ advancement, a National Curriculum Common Core (BNCC) is being imposed on schools as an important element for the development of a more just, democratic and quality education. However, the BNCC reveals itself as another instrument in service of the capitalist financial market. In this work, the BNCC was analyzed from a critical perspective, in order to highlight the presence of the hidden curriculum in the proposals of the BNCC for the Natural Sciences’ area, and to understand how such hidden curricular practices contribute to the maintenance of the current productive system. From a documental analysis guided by the qualitative research method, Paulo Freire's pedagogical and epistemological contributions to overcome the hidden curriculum were used for the development of this work, using three parameters: historical-dialectical materialism, dialogue and concrete reality. Throughout this work, it was possible to highlight the role of BNCC in legitimizing an instrumental and decontextualized science teaching, contributing to the normalization of social contradictions and adaptation of the students to the current reality.Item type:Item, Emergência de nomeação de letras a partir do emparelhamento auditivo-visual em crianças com Síndrome de Down e Autismo via ensino remoto(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Chizzolini, Gabriela Cabral ;Postalli, Lidia Maria Marson ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2748282330028870https://lattes.cnpq.br/7003805018524625Reading and writing are understood as important behaviors for human development, thus studies have sought ways to help students with difficulties in these learning processes. Considering the relevance and generalization of data from systematic replication to other environments and context, the importance of evaluating teaching procedures in the remote context, imposed by the current moment of the Covid-19 pandemic, for children targeted by special education, is observed. Therefore, the present study aimed to replicate the study by Hayashi et al. (2013) and to assess the emergence of letter naming from the teaching of auditory-visual pairing with children with Down syndrome and autism, in the context of remote learning, in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Four students, of both genders, aged six to eleven years, three of them with a diagnosis of Down syndrome and one participant with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, participated in the research. The activities were carried out through video conferences on Zoom platform, in which the researcher shared the tasks with the participants on their computers. A design of multiple probes between sets of letters was used. The alphabet letters were separated into eight sets of three letters and one set of two letters. Data collection was conducted individually with each participant, consisting of familiarization (pre-naming and matching to sample training) and application of teaching and probe procedure. The naming evaluation was conducted before starting each new set of letters. The capital letter was presented in the center of the computer screen and, simultaneously, on the first three trials the software presented the instruction “What letter is that?”. In the teaching condition, each trial presented the spoken letter (letter name) simultaneously with the printed letters of the set in the center of the computer screen, next to each other. The established criterion was a 100% correct responses in a block of trials. The results showed that the four participants showed an increase in correct letter naming after the teaching sessions for most of the letter sets. The four mothers rated the teaching program, the researcher's skills and also the items related to time as satisfactory and/or totally satisfactory (duration of appointments, frequency of appointments and duration of the entire procedure). In the evaluation of the participants, the four participants indicated 100% “cool” for the questions about what they thought of the researcher and about carrying out computer activities with the researcher. The data suggest that teaching letter identification may foster letter naming. Future studies should improve the procedure for conducting in a remote context.Item type:Item, Mídias sociais e eleição presidencial 2018: uma análise da dinâmica do WhatsApp na campanha eleitoral no Brasil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Sampaio, Bruna Pessoa ;Casalecchi, Gabriel Avila ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9759794253878555https://lattes.cnpq.br/6201308799954740The thesis analyzes the main images shared among WhatsApp public groups during the campaign for the 2018 presidential elections in Brazil. The main objective was to verify the characteristics of the content covered in each image, thus understanding the main themes shared in the messaging application. WhatsApp was chosen because it was a crucial tool for the dissemination of campaign material, whether in video, image, text or audio. In addition to being the main digital platform used among voters to receive and share political content. To understand this phenomenon, at first, a review of classical communication theories such as Agenda-setting and Framing was carried out, in order to investigate the direction of contemporary communication theories. Consequently, the theoretical structure follows the evolutionary trajectory of the insertion of campaigns in the online environment and discusses the rise in the spread of disinformation in new social media. Subsequently, the research methodology was built from content analysis performed on 80 images, collected in the database created by WhatsApp Monitor. The corpus represents the images that were most shared from October 3rd to 27th, 2018, which corresponds to the election period between the first and second rounds, totaling four weeks. The results of the analyzes allow us to point out that there was a strategy of content development and themes to be discussed between the weeks, orchestrating a growth among the negative contents during the last weeks of the campaign, mainly, the attacks on the Partido dos Trabalhadores.Item type:Item, Armazenagem de hidrogênio em cavacos de magnésio produzidos por meio de usinagem criogênica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Déo, Filipe Ferrari Galan ;Antonialli, Armando Ítalo Sette ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4367459395417045https://lattes.cnpq.br/4944980919316450Hydrogen is a clean and low cost fuel, and its storage on solid state shows out to be a possibility for large scale application. Magnesium is considered a good material for hydrogen storage due to some interesting features of magnesium hydride, and several studies were held to enhance its capacity for hydrogen absorption and desorption. Cryogenic machining is considered as an possible alternative to develop kinetics on this material, also responsible for enhancing properties of the machined parts and helping machining process. This degree final project aims to analyze the effect of cryogenic machining over hydrogen storage on magnesium chips. Shaping operation was used regarding an orthogonal cutting in order to facilitate the process analysis and chip formation, using both pure magnesium and AZ31 commercial alloy, both on dry and cryogenic conditions. Chips obtained were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction in order to evaluate crystallographic texture and morphology. Deformation factor, shear angle, strain and strain rate were calculated and compared between specimens. Finally, two cycles of hydrogenation in each sample in order to obtain absorption and desorption curves, which were also compared. Results show that, although chips from the same material presented equal crystallographic texture and morphology, also the same calculated parameters, absorption and desorption kinetics were better when cryogenic machining was employed for the AZ31 magnesium alloy. It is believed that machining strain on low temperatures may be responsible for grain refinement on the chip, which ensures better hydrogen kinetics. Finally, it is possible that this research area may be promising, as new analysis might be developed in order to employ hydrogen as a clean fuel in large scale.Item type:Item, Fertirrigação: técnicas e práticas de manejo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Gramasco, Giovanni Amadeu Parente ;Souza, Claudinei Fonseca ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4858219292242433https://lattes.cnpq.br/8208478987539947Irrigation aims to expand the cultivation of various crops in non-occasional times, that is, at different times throughout the year, resulting in better results and yields from your crop. The use of the fertigation technique has had one of the greatest impacts in the agricultural sector, resulting in a greater and better distribution of nutrients throughout the entire crop cycle. The fertigation technique has been adopted by several producers, being used in different regions of the country due to the fact that it manages to increase the efficiency of nutrient absorption by that particular crop. One of the ways to obtain an increase in crop efficiency is the use of adequate water use in crops, being altered or leading to a possible increase in crop production. The types of irrigation are key points to carry out a more efficient and sustainable management, however, of all types of irrigation systems that currently exist, micro irrigation and drip systems are the ones that achieve the highest efficiency rates for water use. Another fact that everyone knows is that fertilization and crop nutrition are two essential factors, responsible for gains in productivity and in the quality of the final product; this is because the plant's nutritional balance is a fundamental condition for the maximum expression of its genetic potential. Thus, carry out evaluations of the characteristics of the fertilizers that will be used together with the irrigation water, since the fertilizer must be suitable for the type of irrigation, plant nutrition and the like. The fertigation technique adds several advantages, such as: fertilizers have their losses reduced by leaching and volatilization, and also their application efficiency is much higher when compared to the conventional way of application. Currently, in irrigation, it is clear how much the use of automation in irrigated systems has been growing. Thus, by definition automation are techniques which are based on electronic equipment whose function is to reduce labor and ensure quick solutions.Item type:Item, Lugares sagrados Pataxó: entre mais-que-humanos, natureza e identidade cultural(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Azevedo, Gabriela Folegatti de ;Vander Velden, Felipe Ferreira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7289231173735671https://lattes.cnpq.br/6270416469595435This work aims to list the sacred places for the Pataxó, where some of their more-than-human beings live. The aim is to establish a link between nature and spirituality and how, for the perpetuation of the Pataxó spirituality, the preservation of the forest is important. In this way, several more-than-human beings, together with the forest, take care of the Pataxó, constituting their spirituality; on the other hand, the Pataxó take care of the forest, which is the home of more-than-humans. Thus, a relationship between nature and culture is revealed, in which the Pataxó culture is linked to its places – to nature –, which makes the environmental conservation of the region fundamental. Therefore, I hope to explain how the production of the Pataxó identity has a link with the more-than-human beings that inhabit the forest and take care of the Pataxó through caring for the forest.Item type:Item, Avaliação da capacidade resistente de vigas de concreto armado reforçado com fibras utilizando os procedimentos normativos da ABNT NBR 16935:2021(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Jacomini, Guilherme Martins ;Pereira, Margot Fabiana ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9324192204449423https://lattes.cnpq.br/9452581557244687Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) is a composite that has improved mechanical properties when compared to plain concrete. The addition of fibers in the cementitious matrix of concrete aims to improve the performance of the material, providing crack control and a post-cracking deformation capacity increase. Thus, the demand for this material has increased in recent decades, being more commonly applied to pavements and tunnel lining, being possible to use it in linear elements. For the use of FRC in structural members, steel fibers are mainly used because they provide better mechanical responses when required for different loads. For application in structural projects, it is necessary to use design methods that guarantee the safety and performance of the members. However, in Brazil, the current standard on the procedures that must be adopted for the use of the FRC in design, ABNT NBR 16935: 2021, was recently published and studies that apply this methodology are still rare in the literature. In this context, the present work aims to use the design procedures presented by ABNT NBR 16935: 2021, as well as a comparative study between the results of the resistant capacity of linear members obtained experimentally and by the design method. Thus, the studies conducted in this work demonstrate that the normative procedures tend to overestimate the resistant capacity of the analyzed beams, however, these values appear to be similar to those found in the literature when applying the procedures of the fib Model Code (2012). The application of the constitutive laws can demonstrate the influence on the reinforcement rate of the members as the fiber content is altered, being able to obtain a 10% reduction in the value of the longitudinal reinforcement.Item type:Item, Oferta de sementes orgânicas do setor privado no Brasil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Furquim, Lucas Tadeu ;Forti, Victor Augusto ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5742976162363922https://lattes.cnpq.br/1909373647768299Given the current concern with sustainability, the organic agriculture has shown growth in recent decades, which occurred, in many cases, through common practices and technologies in conventional agriculture, especially related to seeds. The legal flexibility of allowing the use of conventional seeds in organic crops gave way to a low offer of organic seeds in the private sector, both in numbers and in species. Thus, by consulting the catalog of companies that produce organic seeds in Brazil, together with a literature review, the offer of organic seeds was analyzed, including the location of the main companies and the diversity of species. Only four companies producing organic seeds in Brazil, located in the South and Southeast regions of Brazil, except for one point of sale located in the Midwest region. All companies are focused on the production of vegetable seeds, as it is one of the largest sectors of organic agriculture, especially regarding the acquisition of seeds. However, the sector shows potential for the exploration of other cultures, and remains incipient mainly because of the difficulties in producing these seeds and the flexibility of the law.Item type:Item, Análise de instrumentos de qualificação ambiental aplicáveis em lotes urbanos edificados: os casos da Quota Ambiental, do município de São Paulo (SP) e da qualificação Qualiverde, do município do Rio de Janeiro (RJ)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Pereira, Giovanna Vicentini ;Silva, Sandra Regina Mota ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9973870842834947https://lattes.cnpq.br/5461943442606527ABSTRACT Migration to urban areas, motivated by global growth and industrialization, culminated in an increase in the Brazilian urban population and, consequently, an increase in environmental impacts. As a form of control and mitigation, public policies for environmental regulation have begun to emerge and, more recently, incentive instruments with a view to achieving greater urban sustainability. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the potential and limitations of two instruments developed by Brazilian metropolises: the Quota Ambiental (QA) of the city of São Paulo (SP), and the Qualificação Qualiverde, of the city of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The first stage consisted of the review according to themes related to the object of study, such as urban environmental impacts and the study of Brazilian metropolises, starting with legal documents that corroborated the process of creation and consolidation of the instruments. Then, the work consisted in the analysis of the instruments in two levels, the first referring to the isolated experience and the second, in a comparative way. The comparative and correlated analysis was based on some guiding variables: 1) Emergence Context; 2) Legal Basis; 3) Applicability (Scope, Prioritized Aspects and Score and Benefits). As part of the result, it was understood that the instruments have different objectives, mainly by QA aiming at reducing impacts within the municipality and floods, while QV proposes the maintenance of energy costs and impacts on the lot itself. In addition, the simplicity and versatility of QV in face of QA was noticed, however, not having the benefits in force, it does not become attractive. Finally, the differentiation in relation to the proposal of the instruments was understood, with the QA being mandatory for buildings with more than 500 m² and the QV also considered an optional seal.Item type:Item, Proportional assist ventilation improves leg muscle reoxygenation after exercise in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-06-21) ;Silva, Audrey Borghi ;Goulart, Cássia da Luz ;Carrascosa, Cláudia R. ;Oliveira, Cristino CarneiroBerton, Danilo Cortozi
