Item type:Item, A liberdade em Aristóteles(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-05) ;Normando, Afonso Gabriel Gadelha ;Lopes, Marisa da Silva ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5427042421727621https://lattes.cnpq.br/8589062845458512Several scholars have entertained the notion of freedom in Aristotle according to their respective aims and methods. Although their research may overlap in some aspects, they are significantly far from reaching any dialogue for discussion. Far from seeking a solution to this problem, the present study aims to analyze and consider the most common aspects of the freedoms in Aristotle and, thus, elaborate on its own specificity. It is primarily intended to investigate the Aristotelian concept of freedom and its relation to reason. Freedom firstly appears in the relations of the members of a household: The free should be governed as free people and the slave should be governed despotically. It is later found that what qualities underline these differences are some aspects of the human soul: The man has a complete deliberative faculty; the woman has it, but it is without authority; the child also has it, but it is incomplete; and the slave does not have it at all. If the freeman is the one who should rule for he has the faculty of deliberation, then, in order to define him, it is necessary to analyze the elements of the soul which make him the ideal ruler. The rational soul allows the freeman to calculate and to have a sense of time. Moreover, he is the only one who is able to deliberate, to decide and to have rational desires. His natural capacities allow him to act in a contingent world not as a slave, but as a freeman: Reason is his guide, not chance. Similarly, in politics, the true Aristotelian freeman should not act as he likes, as it is commonly done in extreme democracies, he should rather act according to the law. La langue pure comme devenir du présent: un peuple dans la langue, un peuple qui manquait et qui est déjà là.Item type:Item, Utopias virtuais: um estudo sobre o vaporwave e o ciberespaço geográfico(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Pereira, Synclair Antonio Vieira ;Lana, Rita de Cássia ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1816504631940006https://lattes.cnpq.br/3973353251484647The internet, a network communication model created primarily for military purposes in the 1960s, has become the primary means of communication of the early 21st century, revolutionizing the way we relate to each other and the world. These relationships, sometimes conflicting, reflect the conflicts of the physical-material space. Given the need to broaden the geographic view of cyberspace, and in this sense, the research carried out made use of vaporwave, an electronic and experimental musical genre that emerged and popularized on the internet in the mid-2010s as a case study, in an attempt to understand the new contemporary spatial flows. Adopting as a theoretical basis for the investigation the theories developed by Milton Santos, especially the Theory of Urban Economic Circuits, it was possible to understand the applicability and limitations of the use of the theory in the face of new spatial configurations of the globalized world. At the end of this research, it can be pointed out that the particularities of cyberspace demand a new perspective of analysis capable of embracing its accelerated flows, configuring, therefore, as a field full of questions to be addressed by geographic science in dialogue with other fields of knowledge.Item type:Item, Gestão de TIC no processo de compras públicas: análise da efetividade e dos entraves do sistema SAGUI suprimentos da UFSCar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Ferreira, Fábio Zuccolotto ;Martínez, Marta Pagán ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7522593438014023https://lattes.cnpq.br/9747983347929739The general objective of this work was to evaluate the effectiveness and the obstacles of the System SAGUI Suprimentos of UFSCar, from public procurement processes in the form of price registration. This case study, based on descriptive, exploratory, bibliographic, documentary and qualitative research, analyzed two information systems used at the aforementioned University, one implemented in 2018 and the other in 2021. Direct observation was carried out with field notes in the sector responsible for the IS at the São Carlos Campus from some dimensions and variables considered references by the literature focused on the evaluation of systems implemented in public organizations, such as: ease of use, productivity and time. The study showed that UFSCar's SAGUI Suprimentos system has brought effectiveness to the bidding processes, due to the ease of use, with the new system interface that more clearly presents the images and technical specifications of the products, resembling the well-known "e-commerce"; the productivity dimension, with more concise reports, based on pre-programmed information, which facilitate the grouping of similar items as well as the quantities demanded; by the time dimension, having considerably reduced the duration of the bidding process, despite the constant increase in bureaucracy. The obstacles are more related to the human factor (error) and the unaccompanied demands of users, which are therefore some challenges of the system for greater efficiency and effectiveness in public procurement processes, in addition to the training of users and internal staff.Item type:Item, Blockade and antiblockade effects with near-ground state neutral atoms(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Attie, Jorge Antonio Gonçalves ;Santos, André Cidrim ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8538873580371877 ;Bachelard, Romain Pierre Marcelhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/4344589799192534In this work we study the photon blockade and antiblockade effects in a system of neutral atoms with a two-level structure, in the limit where induced dipole-dipole interactions mediated by light are relevant. Such system is an interesting alternative to cold gases platforms with Rydberg atoms, with applications in quantum optics and quantum information protocols. For an ensemble of few atoms driven by a laser field, we monitor the photon statistics and the population dynamics of the excited states, identifying the regime of parameters under which blockade or antiblockade is achieved. Furthermore we study the correlations, non-classicality and entanglement of the emitted photons through the photon-photon correlations function and the Cauchy-Schwarz and Bell’s inequalities, with the aim of obtaining a source of pairs of photons strongly correlated and entangled.Item type:Item, Os ladrilhos da escrita memorial em Infância de Graciliano Ramos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Jesus, Ana Paula Ricci de ;Pinto, Débora Cristina Morato ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1311151012002541https://lattes.cnpq.br/5828075629859110The aim of this work is to present an interpretation of the work Infância by Graciliano Ramos under the memorialist perspective, specifically concerning to a certain aesthetic of the memory in the book. For the composition of this analysis, we seek to highlight the writing of the self of the narrative, both for the recognition of the characteristics of autofiction as a literally genre, and the configuration of a testimonial writing and singular meaning for elaborating childhood’s traumas mediated by violence. To relate these different perceptions, we also develop the hypothesis of impressionism techniques drawing the necessary lines and giving colors and sensations to the author’s memory fragments, in a non-linear portrait, just like fundamental principles of reminiscence. Finally, the last part of the dissertation tries to reveal these elements from excerpts from the book Infância itself.Item type:Item, Polimorfismo como estratégia de proteção contra predação por aves: estudo experimental com lagartas artificiais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Zandomenegui, Nathália Costa Silva ;Piratelli, Augusto João ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4747322084219058https://lattes.cnpq.br/4094852688305666Predation can be considered one of the strongest interactions between individuals in ecological communities, as the predator increases its fitness and controls the population of its prey. Many species spend part of their lives avoiding predators and a good way to avoid them is through phenotypic variations. Polymorphism is known as a protection strategy against predation, resulting in an increase in the individual survival rate in polymorphic populations, by hindering the formation of the search image by the predator. The aim of this study was to test the protective effect of polymorphism in artificial caterpillars against predation by birds. Our hypothesis was that polymorphism influences the predation rate of artificial caterpillars by birds, and our prediction was that polymorphic populations would be less predated when compared to monomorphic populations. 1280 artificial caterpillars were made, mimicking lepidopteran larvae, in four different color patterns: green, black, red and orange. These caterpillars were grouped into 32 monomorphic and 32 tetramorphic populations, each population containing 20 individuals arranged in leaf substrate at eight different points in forest fragments in the municipality of Analândia/SP. Complementarily, a qualitative survey of bird species that occur in the study area was carried out to verify possible predators of artificial caterpillars. Contrary to prediction, polymorphic populations suffered more predation when compared to monomorphic populations. Other than that, green monomorphic populations were not predated. It is believed that the general low rate of predation of caterpillars by birds due to the low species richness of insectivorous birds, the lack of behavioral responses by artificial prey and the success of the camouflage strategy by green individuals have contributed to this result. .Item type:Item, Educação Física escolar e praxiologia motriz: aproximações iniciais a partir de uma proposta de formação continuada(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Zaghi, Flavio Henrique Lara da Silveira ;Alves, Fernando Donizete ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3812723309905378 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9354-7851https://lattes.cnpq.br/5100595421268220The present study sought to establish some important and necessary themes for school physical education, they are: physical education, sport, game, school, teacher training and motor praxiology. From the 1980s onwards, school physical education went through moments of great uncertainty and crises, providing some reflections, studies and research that contributed to the paradigmatic change experienced in this historical period. The great split consisted in overcoming the biological and sports conception of physical fitness that permeated the area. In this wake, physical education gained pedagogical contours arising mainly from critical theories of education. Therefore, as a curricular component, physical education began to appear in official documents produced at the national level. The most recent guiding document is the National Curricular Common Base. In this document, one of the concepts that underpins the Sport thematic unit is “internal organization”. We understand that, in general terms, this concept comes, to a certain extent, from the theory nicknamed by French professor Pierre Parlebas, the Theory of Motive Action. In this sense, the research problem is based on what are the initial implications of a continuing education course for physical education teachers, guided by the theoretical bases of motor praxiology, for the ways of thinking about the teaching of sport and games at school? In the search to answer the research problem question, we arrived at the objective that is to reveal the evidence of praxeological elements constructed by teachers of Physical Education participating in a continuing education. In this way, a continuing education course was proposed, based on the members of the knowledge base, specifically content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge, as well as the relationship of knowledge related to the experience of teachers. We understand, therefore, that the continuing education of teachers must overcome the hegemonic model of technical-instrumental rationality, seeking a horizontal relationship between the effective participants of the training. The methodology used was based on qualitative research, which allows the researcher to establish a close relationship between the researcher and the subjects, as well as with the environment/research field. We also used, in this study, the approach of the pedagogical intervention research, which proposes investigations that contemplate the planning actions and the implementation of pedagogical interventions. Eight physical education teachers from the public network of a city in the interior of the state of São Paulo participated in this study. With the means of obtaining data, eight training meetings were held over three months. Another route used was the semi-structured interviews with the teachers participating in the course. Data collection took place through the transcription of training meetings and in-depth interviews. Data analysis was supported by the content analysis technique that allows categorizing and classifying findings into categories. After transcribing the reports and analyzing the data, we arrived at three main categories, namely: the first one dealt with the elements relevant to the training course, the second block of analysis was based on the concepts studied in the training course and, finally, the third block comprehended the relationship between what and how to teach in school physical education through praxeological concepts. In general terms, the continuing education course provided the exchange of experiences that were fundamental for the construction of knowledge. Participants also indicated difficulty in understanding the concepts of the theory studied, however they reported that the deepening of many concepts allowed an awareness and rationalization of pedagogical practice. In general terms, it is noticeable that the praxiological elements contributed significantly to the process of planning, systematizing and teaching sports.Item type:Item, Avaliação da presença de microplásticos no trato grastrointestinal do peixe-rei (Atherinella brasiliensis) em praias da região de Ubatuba, SP, Brasil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Nogueira, Esteban Jorcin ;Fernandes, Erminio ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2770392631554400 ;Mattox, George Mendes Taliaferrohttps://lattes.cnpq.br/4453900943293186The beaches of the municipality of Ubatuba are known for their diverse fauna. One of the most abundant species of the ichthyofauna in the region is the beach silverside (Atherinella brasiliensis), object of this study. We studied the degree of contamination by microplastics through the analysis of the gastrointestinal tract of A. brasiliensis specimens. Comparative analyses were made in two beaches with different hydrodynamics. The beaches chosen for this study are Perequê-Açú and Barra da Seca, the former being divided into two sampling areas: one calmer and another more energetic. Each beach was sampled twice, one during winter and the other during summer. The collected fish were measured, their gastrointestinal content was extracted, and the microplastics, if present, were classified according to colour, shape, size, and quantity. Simultaneously, measurements of environmental parameters and collection of water and sediment samples were made to correlate the presence of microplastic in the water and sediment, as well as to determine the influence of abiotic factors such as water temperature and salinity and sediment granulometry. The degree of contamination in the individuals was observed and considered high (~40% of the individuals analysed), with the predominant synthetic polymers being blue and transparent of the fiber type. There was a higher consumption of microplastics in the summer at Barra-Seca (45%) and in the winter at Perequê Calma (50%), and a similarity of microplastics in the water samples in both periods. The variation of microplastics in the water and in the gastrointestinal tract of fish was similar, which demonstrates the importance of including data of the biotic environment, as well as the physical environment (water and sediment) in studies such as this.Item type:Item, Modelagem de fração cura com a distribuição Gompertz(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Oliveira, André Paulino de ;Dias, Teresa Cristina Martins ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0187724276640668https://lattes.cnpq.br/4518027924623926Survival Analysis is a broad and crucial field of Statistical Science. Survival models are useful for estimating the reliability function, describe data properties and more. Considering medical studies, the aim is studying the time until an event occurs, like the death of a patient. However, there can be situations in which the subject will not experience the event. In this study, we explore two parametric models for modelling the cure rate, the mixture model and the defective model. The times to event are assumed to follow the Gompertz distribution. Both frequentist and Bayesian approaches are considered for the estimation problem. To exemplify the discussed theory, applications in real data are discussed.Item type:Item, Influência das etiquetas eletrônicas de tecnologia RFID na análise comportamental de abelhas sem ferrão Melipona quadrifasciata (Lepeletier, 1836) contaminadas com imidacloprido(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Barbosa, Barbara Silva ;Decio, Pamela ;Toppa, Rogério Hartunghttps://lattes.cnpq.br/0673898572494729In order to elucidate questions about the potential of technological monitoring of native bees, the influence of electronic RFID technology tags was analyzed in relation to the behavior of stingless bees of the species Melipona quadrifasciata exposed to neonicotinoid imidacloprid, in a laboratory approach. The concentration of imidacloprid used in the bioassays after fixing the tags was selected according to the concentrations identified in the nectar of plants pollinated by the species (10 ppb; Sigma-Aldrich, CAS Number: 138261-41-3, purity > 99%). Recording of the individuals was carried out in locomotion arenas with vertical positioning, for the evaluation of the flight activity and the mobility of the bees, together with the purpose of analyzing the behavior in the presence of a superior light stimulus and an attractive food. With the help of EthoVision XT software, data integration and automation of behavioral experiments with bees were observed, and the results obtained during the experiment showed that electronic tags did not interfere with food consumption patterns and bees survival during the period of 48 hours of exposure. However, data from behavioral analysis showed that electronic tags have an influence on mobility in groups associated with the pesticide imidacloprid, which may indicate a relationship between the stress caused by the weight of the tags and the possible effects of the sublethal dose of neonicotinoid. Due to the sensitive nature of this technology, it is not yet possible to provide specific details on how the tags can be improved, but it is hoped that the data collected through this study will contribute to the optimization and understanding of RFID technology for future behavioral research.Item type:Item, Análise de parâmetros ecológicos sob influência da remoção da biomassa aérea de Hedychium coronarium J. KÖNIG (ZINGIBERACEAE) e enriquecimento do solo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Mattos, Lilian Aparecida Arantes de ;Xavier, Rafael de Oliveira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0431645383441703 ;Matos, Dalva Maria da Silvahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/4728734263109138Plants with clonal growth are characterized by the vegetative production of numerous descendant individuals, called ramets, which can cover extensive natural areas, becoming independent and interconnected through internodes in rhizomes, leading to the formation of large and long-lasting clonal systems (Price and Marshall 1999). The maintenance of these systems is facilitated by the ability of clonal species for physiological integration (i.e., the ability to share resources such as water, carbohydrates and mineral nutrients between interconnected ramets) (Campoy, 2017). The plant Hedychium coronarium J. König (Zingiberaceae) is a rhizomatous macrophyte native to Asia widely distributed in Brazil, mainly in riparian areas and in ombrophilous forests. The management of this species requires specific control strategies, as this species tolerates different abiotic conditions in wetlands and presents an efficient clonal growth, resulting in large aboveground biomass production. Therefore, the objective of this work was to investigate the influence of successive mechanical cuts and soil enrichment with nitrogen (N) over time on yield patterns, starch storage in the rhizomes and growth of H. coronarium. We found a negative effect of aboveground biomass removal on biomass production, showing that aboveground biomass removal can contribute to the control of the species over time, regardless of soil enrichment with N. We also observed a compensation mechanism and decrease in reserves of starch in the rhizome and in the growth of the ramets along the mechanical cuts, showing that the reduction of the energy reserve of the plant can be a management strategy for this plant.Item type:Item, INFLUÊNCIA DAS ETIQUETAS ELETRÔNICAS DE RFID NA CAPACIDADE DE REPELÊNCIA DE Melipona quadrifasciata (Apidae: Meliponini) AO IMIDACLOPRIDO(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-06) ;Castor, Rebeca Emanuelle da Silva ;Tadei, Rafaela ;Toppa, Rogério Hartunghttps://lattes.cnpq.br/0673898572494729Due to the importance of Brazilian stingless bees for pollination of native flora and the growing concern about the decline in pollinator populations triggered by environmental changes and the presence of pesticides, the number of studies involving these insects has increased. Therefore, to support conservation, the use of technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification tags (RFID) has been using as tools for environmental monitoring. For the purpose of evaluate the influence of electronic tags on bee behavior, the present study aimed to analyze behavioral parameters of locomotion and food resource choice between feeders with and without the neonicotinoid insecticide imidacloprid. To obtain the behavioral data, worker bees of M. quadrifasciata were individually placed in filming arenas for 10 minutes with availability of food contaminated with high and low concentration of the insecticide imidacloprid, 10 ppm and 10 ppb respectively, in addition to pure food and solvent control (Ntotal = 251 bees). It was observed that M. quadrifasciata bees do not have the ability to identify and avoid contaminated food, and the presence of the electronic tag did not change the frequency of visits between contaminated and pure food. The presence of food containing imidacloprid in the shooting situations reduced the movement time of the bees but did not interfere with other locomotion parameters. However, the electronic RFID tags interfered with the locomotion of the bees, so that it reduced the average speed, turning frequency, number of visits to the exit area, distance traveled, and movement time of the individuals. Therefore, under laboratory conditions the RFID tag influenced bee locomotion, but this technology has proven useful in behavioral research, and further studies are needed to understand if the behavioral effects observed in this work occur in field and colony situationsItem type:Item, Consumo de álcool durante a faculdade: coorte de estudantes de medicina da Universidade Federal do Acre(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-07) ;Lima, Ítalo Mendes ;Souza, Raisa Peixoto de ;Gonçalves, Elielton dos Santos ;Anjos, Aldem Kelwin Oliveira dosNeto, Vitor Bruno MirandaO álcool é a substância psicoativa mais consumida no mundo, sendo uma prática comum entre os estudantes universitários, constituindo, assim, um grave problema de saúde pública. Nowadays, psychotherapy is one of the treatments recommended for this complex issue, been used different theoretical references. Between the therapeutic approaches in Brazil there is the Analytical Behavioral Therapy (ABT), based in the Radical Behaviorism with the intervention focused on the analysis of contingencies active in the analyzed individual’s or group’s context. Recent studies about the process and outcome in ABT have been emphasizing the need of more research with the mean of description of the process and outcome, aiming to amplify evidences of efficacy and efficiency. Between many discussions, it is more urgent the need to delimitate an intervention’s procedure, in group and individually, in procedures with few sessions, i. e., a ABT brief psychotherapy model. The present study aimed to describe a brief psychological support program based in ABT, planed to be developed in up to 12 individual sessions of 50 minutes, weekly. The process developed in this procedure was detailed in its different phases. The main goals of a group of sessions were outlined, the main procedures implemented described, the instruments used outlined, trying to emphasize especially the goal of the therapist in this process. Also, examples of products were inserted, from the intervention with three participants referred from the wait list of the service, offered by a public university in the state of São Paulo. For the insertion of the cases in the present study, the design was submitted and approved by the Ethics Committee for Human Research. General and initial considerations allow the discussion about some difficulties with the model, remote and face-to-face application possibilities and indicating possible paths for future research.Item type:Item, Python aplicado em planejamento fatorial em química(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-08) ;Souza, André Luiz Machado Simão de ;Pereira Filho, Edenir Rodrigueshttps://lattes.cnpq.br/3394181280355442The scope of this course conclusion work involves the application of a new tool for factorial planning for the optimization of experiments using the Python programming language, where the author adapted and compiled three routines of the free program Octave in a library named “pde.py”. They present intense production and deposition of collagen and glycoproteins in the dermis, with consequent development of a pathological scar. When carrying out a review of the literature, there is no consensus on which method is best for its management and/or treatment and there are no studies that consider the volume of lesions for the analyzed outcomes, as well as, to date, there is no in the literature, studies using photodynamic therapy (PDT) with injectable methyl aminolevulinate (M-ALA) for the treatment of atrial keloid. Objectives: To compare the keloid resection technique with epidermis and dermis preservation - Keloid Fillet Flap (KFF), with the standard surgical treatment by primary closure, using the standard treatment protocol: neoadjuvant triamcinolone infiltration + surgery + adjuvant beta therapy , proposing the neoadjuvant and adjuvant use of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with M-ALA 40% as a promising alternative to the treatment of auricular keloids. Methods: The study design, in its first part, was prospective and randomized in a single center with patients who had keloid in the auricular region. All participating patients were randomly divided into two groups: skin flap (CR) (n = 36 patients); and the KFF group (n = 37 patients). In both groups, neoadjuvant infiltration treatment with triamcinolone 20 mg/ml was performed until the end of the clinical activity of the keloid. After the surgical procedure, 10 sessions of beta-therapy were followed up with adjuvant treatment. In its second part, a pilot study was carried out, following the protocol with injection of M-ALA perilesion and intralesion, at a concentration of 40%, with saline solution at 0.9% as diluent, incubation of 90 min, followed by lighting with the LINCE® device (MMOptics, São Carlos-SP) parameterized with a wavelength of 630nm, 125mW/cm², providing 150J/cm² of energy, performing the application for 20 min. One week later, adjuvant PDT with 20% M-ALA in topical cream was performed, whether or not preceded by surgical resection of the mass. Results: The present study involved 73 patients, 37 from the KFF group and 36 from the CR group. After using scar measurement scales to define the recurrence rate, our study showed a recurrence rate of the total sample of 62%, with the KFF group presenting a rate of 76% and the RC group presenting a rate of 40% (p>0,05). In the KFF group, the mean volume of recurrent lesions was 56 cm³, versus 13.25 cm³ in those that did not recur (p<0,05). In the CR group, the mean volume was 57 cm³ in recurrent lesions and 1.6 cm³ in non-recurrent lesions (p<0,05). In the pilot project, the cases presented volumes of 0.08 cm³ and 1.87 cm³, with no recurrences in three months of follow-up. The volumes needed to maintain the proportion between the amount of M-ALA and the volume of the lesion were determined, standardizing the concentration of M-ALA at 40%, regardless of the volume of the lesion. Conclusion: Current auricular keloid treatment protocols still have high rates of recurrence, which are unacceptable because of the discomfort and aesthetic changes they can cause. There is an unequivocal relationship between the initial volume of lesions and the rate of recurrence, with lesions with volumes above 50 cm³ showing the highest rates. The pilot project developed was able to determine the best concentration of injectable M-ALA, always maintaining the proportion with the volume of the lesion, defined the incubation time after application, optimizing it in the meantime to only 90 min and allowed the visualization of the indication of treatment with PDT based on the volume of injuries, which will allow the creation of new studies already based on the pilot data.Item type:Item, Uma abordagem estatística sobre a estimação de redshifts de quasares usando dados do S-PLUS(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-08) ;Soares, Gabriela Pereira ;Nakazono, Lilianne ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8135231533828484 ;Izbicki, Rafaelhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/9991192137633896Redshift is a cosmic index used to measure distances to astronomical objects. The study of this quantity is important for the understanding of the expansion of the Universe and the current objective of the stars, according to cosmology. In this work, we are interested in estimating distances of quasars, which are luminous celestial objects known by its high redshifts, indicating that they are at great distances from Earth. The estimation of redshift can be performed via spectroscopy, but this technique has a high cost and requires a large amount of time for cosmic observation. Thus, photometric surveys have been highly valuable in this field, as they also provide relevant information for measuring redshift, despite having low resolution and less precision. The goal of this work is to improve the estimation of photometric redshifts for quasars from S-PLUS (Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey). In order to do that, we build statistical models based on the estimation of conditional densities using the FlexCoDE algorithm. In addition, we study the influence of narrowband filters (narrow bands) on the model, currently available only in S-PLUS, and compare it with the results of a previously developed neural network model, with the purpose of confirming the significance of these bands. We found from the analysis that narrow bands significantly improve the estimates of the conditional density of the photometric redshift, although this improvement is not observed in point estimators for the redshift. However, the diagnosis detected that the tested models, both from FlexCoDE and from neural networks, may be improved.Item type:Item, Razão econômica, trabalho e produção de tecnologia: uma etnografia do mercado de eventos durante a COVID-19 no Brasil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-09-09) ;Moreira, André Guilherme ;Morawska Vianna, Catarina ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2245801371286766https://lattes.cnpq.br/4510352642506090This dissertation seeks to understand the relation between economic reason, labor and technology production through the ethnography of Lúdica, an event production company that betwenn 2020 and 2021was faced with the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. With the ban of activities that generate gatherings by state and municipal authorities in March 2020 aiming to contain the increase of the coronavírus contagion rate in Brazil, Lúdica's revenues were reduced to R$ 0.00. Faced with this scenario, several tensions and contradictions emerged in the company involving discussions about work, technology, and the pandemic, which resulted in the reduction of the workforce while investing in technology. The ethnography, conducted remotely during the pandemic seeks to describe the knowledge, theories, practices, personal histories, and temporal representations that inform the world images, synchronic and diachronic, that guide the decision-making processes and actions of Lúdica's executives and employees. As I discuss throughout the dissertation, the “madness of economic reason” (DERRIDA, 1991) expressed in decisions such as that of the São Paulo State Government to relax isolation measures contrary to the orientation of epidemiologists, is the result not only of “company’s culture” or “public agencies”, but also the sociotechnical agencements, particular historical trajectories and temporal maps to which people are intertwined. These images about the world create paradoxes that propose us to reflect on how the economization of different aspects of life can lead to disastrous outcomes as happened in Brazil between 2020 and 2022. This dissertation, therefore, describes how entrepreneurs, employees, and some representatives of public power react in the face of a crisis, and how the images of the world that inform their decisions change according to the technologies and relationships to which they have access.
