listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Trincas em sedes de plugue para panelas de aço: estudo de caso em unidade industrial(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-11-22) Ribeiro, Gabriela Bugni; Pandolfelli, Victor Carlos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7369376873984839; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9194585057005525Purging blocks are important components located in the bottom of Steel Ladles. Its main objective is to protect and connect the ladle and the plug, throughout inert gas, usually argon, is injected into the liquid metal bath. Such components generally suffer with constant chemical and physical solicitation, which requires properties as high resistance to corrosion and thermal shock to be able to operate as required. Due to these solicitations, it is important that, during the production of the purging blocks, defects are minimized, such as micro cracks, which reduce their useful life and even make their use unfeasible. During the manufacture of purging blocks at the Monolithic and Pre-Molded Factory (FMPM) of RHI Magnesita located in Contagem-MG, several specimens began to present cracks after the drying stage, being discarded for not attend the required quality standard. This study aims to understand the cause and effect of the appearance of these cracks, as well as changing the calcium aluminate-based binder and the additives used in the concret production for the purging blocks, to propose a solution to this problem, avoiding the waste of raw materials and optimizing the production process of these strategic components for the steel industry.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Desenvolvimento de material didático para alunos surdos do Ensino Médio: uma abordagem da Teoria Ator-Rede(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-11-22) Schefer, Ricardo Pezzotti; Lacerda, Cristina Broglia Feitosa de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9468232016416725; Furnival, Ariadne Chloe Mary; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1291482506649810; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3441720719834089Despite laws that guarantee the presence of deaf students in the classroom through resources such as sign language and the presence of an interpreter, there are many difficulties, especially in relation to subjects with very abstract contents and with technical terms such as the case of Programming Logic. The development of specific material for this discipline can be very useful, but in times of pandemic and social distance, how would construction be possible considering the teacher and interpreter partnership? The approach adopted for the development of this study is exploratory, using qualitative and quantitative methods. In a constructivist and interdisciplinary character, this work aimed to understand the dynamics of distance construction of material for deaf high school students in Programming Logic using available and low-cost materials and technologies. The Actor-Network Theory approach is used, which is based on the idea that human and non-human actors interact linked to a social network of elements, providing an analysis that helps to understand the dynamics of those involved in the construction of the teaching material. In this way, it was possible to observe how these humans or non-humans influenced each other and allowed better choices in the development of teaching materials. In a pilot test, a course on Programming Logic was carried out for deaf students, showing that the teaching material in video classes alone is not enough for the understanding of the deaf student, requiring the mediation of the teacher and interpreter and that this partnership is fundamental for the lesson planning and execution. There is also a preference of students for practice over theory. A questionnaire submitted to expert evaluators in the education of the deaf was applied to verify possible problems in the didactic material, opinions and suggestions were obtained that made possible the improvement in a second version. In the second round of evaluation, a good improvement was achieved in the aspects of visual communication. The results suggest that most of the problems reported about didactics in the first evaluation of the material were in the way of bringing the contents of the Portuguese language to Libras and that the creation of the material can benefit when supported by imagery elements to the detriment of texts only verbal offered by the teacher. The fact that the teacher and the interpreter were not recording the scenes together was one of the difficulties observed in obtaining a more interactive result. Images should be more valued and inserted at the time of construction of the text together with the interpreter so that contents and languages are valued. The communication and interaction between teacher and interpreter needs to be more intensified in order to improve the quality of information for the deaf student. The Actor-Network Theory made it possible to present the importance of non-human actors in the creation of didactic material, such as the storyboard, as well as helping to perceive the connections that must be strengthened, such as that of the teacher and the interpreter.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo da influência da cultura organizacional nas questões ambientais da indústria metalúrgica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-11-22) Nunes, Marcos Tadeu Marcondes; Borsatto, Ricardo Serra; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5988987575101933; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6251391106947714Metallurgy was one of the first industrial processes developed by humanity, being improved according to the evolution of this species. Before, practically artisanal, today extremely industrialized and technologically updated. Inherently, its nature is a polluting industry, and can reach abiotic environments such as soil, air and water, thus impacting the balance of different food chains. The controls of its environmental impacts are mandatory and the results observed by a demanding market. Investments go beyond technological modernization, as it is verified that attention to human beings is essential in the development of an organizational culture that is conscious and committed to good environmental performance, thus naturally guaranteeing better results in performance indicators, and when associated with planning strategy, better competitive conditions in the market. Methodology: This study aims to understand from a Systematic Literature Review (SLR): i) how are the debates about the influence of organizational culture on environmental issues; ii) understand how organizational culture influences an Environmental Management System (EMS); and iii) whether the involvement of senior management is relevant in aspects related to organizational culture. The research shows an urgent need to produce knowledge in this area. Therefore, in view of this conclusion, pointing to the aridity of technical-scientific productions, which could more effectively guide this sector, the effective contribution of this dissertation is to indicate an area to be better explored and studied.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, As forças de paz ou a paz à força: etnografia de uma missão de paz da ONU no Haiti(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-11-22) Santiago, Ana Elisa; Vianna, Anna Catarina Morawska; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2245801371286766; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1504524815075995Over the past century Haiti has experienced successive international interventions in the name of peace. By alleging that Haiti’s internal instability threatens international security, the United Nations (UN) has undertaken peace operations in the country and installed administrative apparatuses to guarantee the proper functioning of democratic institutions, assessed by institutionally established criteria. This ethnographic analysis of one of the peace operations in Haiti – MINUSTAH – explores how the data production on the levels of violence builds an intervention-legitimizing consensus that mobilizes an international bureaucratic apparatus, whose role is to produce even more data in order to create what I call a “statecrafted landscape”. I carried out the field research among the documents, among the bureaucrats, among the Haitian social movements, and among the Brazilian military that participated in the mission. Empirical evidence from fieldwork among UN experts and Haitian activists suggest a mismatch between the Haiti inscribed in UN documents and the Haiti reiterated in local stories about the nation. By contrasting the production of ‘official history’ as a truth and ‘unofficial’ Haitian narratives, I will shed light on the relations of power involved in the enactment of historical facts. Field work among the military highlighted the relevance of the Brazilian Army's participation in MINUSTAH. Through combat experience acquired in Haiti, as well as the bureaucratic training required by the mission, the Armed Forces have improved their techniques for managing the territory and people, and have then reiterated their position as guardians of stability - at home and abroad - by manipulating legal resources to gain control over the population, engendering effects on internal politics and escalating a conservative and authoritarian power in Brazil.
