These models propose new approaches and solutions for describing and sharing serial publication data. Therefore, this research aims to investigate and present the modeling of serials using the PRESSoo and IFLA LRM models, starting from the contextualization of the description of these resources in a Linked Data environment. To this end, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out, seeking to identify how the models are being discussed in the scientific literature, presenting their approaches, using as reference the documents of the respective models published by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). The applied study sought to integrate the exhaustive and granular modeling of serial publications by PRESSoo, which constitutes a specific model within the scope of continuous resources, and IFLA LRM, which constitutes a general model with a high level of abstraction of the bibliographic universe, from the extension mechanisms of this model. It was identified that PRESSoo has a granular and exhaustive modeling of serial publications with classes and properties that cover the entire scope of descriptive elements of these resources, while IFLA LRM, as a model that treats the bibliographic universe in general guidelines , has a modeling with greater emphasis on the entity structure. It is concluded that both models provide a satisfactory and elementary conceptual structure for the description of serial publications in a Linked Data environment, as well as solutions to the complex problems of these resources and a complete shared understanding of this domain, thus constituting as solutions for mapping and interoperability of other vocabularies. Item type:Item, TiNbCr multi-principal element alloy degradation behavior in harsh environments(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-04) ;Dainezi, Isabela ;Rovere, Carlos Alberto Della ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8141224513975606 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1534-0561https://lattes.cnpq.br/7267531467047267The new properties exhibited by multi-principal element (MPE) alloys demonstrate promising results that have relevance across various applications, particularly in strategic industries. A challenging aspect in the field of materials for harsh service environments involves designing alloys that are resistant to oxidation and sulfidation at high temperatures, especially those composed of refractory elements. While oxygen is abundant in the atmosphere, sulfur stands out as one of the most common corrosive contaminants in high-temperature industrial settings, including fuel and feedstocks. The primary objective of this study was to develop and characterize the microstructure, as well as investigate the oxidation and sulfidation behavior of the TiNbCr MPE alloy in both as-cast and hot-isostatically pressed (HIPed) conditions in air, oxygen, and a reducing H2S and H2 gas mixture at temperatures between 600 and 1100°C, with exposures up to 100 hours. The oxidation and sulfidation behavior of the TiNbCr MPE alloy was compared with that of the commercial Haynes 188. The results indicate that the MPE alloy exhibits significantly superior sulfidation resistance compared to the Haynes 188, exhibiting a parabolic behavior with slow kinetics attributed to the formation of a NbS2 inner layer facilitated by the addition of Cr. Notably, no formation of liquid products occurred, as observed in the case of Haynes 188. However, the oxidation behavior is linear, characterized by the formation of a non-protective scale, characterized as a stratified porous layer. Furthermore, in oxidation tests, it is observed a drop in the kinetics with an increasing at temperature-testing due to the formation of Cr2O3 layers.Item type:Item, Influência do método de secagem nas características físico-químicas de hidróxidos duplos lamelares e sua utilização como material adsorvente(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-04) ;Silva Neto, Luiz Daniel da ;Meili, Lucas ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3802018064427795 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0307-8204Freire, José TeixeiraLayered Double Hydroxides (LDH) are natural or synthetic materials nanostructured in two dimensions that feature positively charged layers with interspersed anions to balance charge and structure. Being recognized as promising materials for various applications, a complete exploration of their possible attractive properties and their synthesis process is essential. However, drying, a necessary step in the process, is still little studied. This work aimed to evaluate the influence of the drying method on the physicochemical characteristics in the synthesis of MgAl–CO3/LDH and its use as an adsorbent material. LDH synthesis was carried out using the coprecipitation method, maintaining a Mg/Al ratio of 2:1, and dried in an oven, freeze dryer and atomizer. The oven drying experiments were carried out at temperatures of 60 °C, 70 °C, 80 °C and 90 °C. For freeze-drying, the samples were frozen at a temperature of -50 °C and dried at temperatures of 30 °C, 40 °C, and 50 °C. The experiments for spray drying evaluated the drying temperature and concentration of the feed paste, in addition to discussing a statistical approach to obtain the volumetric heat transfer coefficient through an experimental design. The results obtained for drying kinetics and rate, effective diffusivity and Biot number indicate that external conditions control LDH drying. MgAl-CO3/LDH microspheres were obtained by atomization in all conditions studied, presenting a smooth surface and no holes. XRD results showed that changes in the drying process produced LDHs with variation in basal spacing, lattice parameter c and average crystallite size. The FTIR analysis presented the three characteristic types of chemical bonds in LDH, identifying the functional groups and the intercalated anion. The SEM showed different morphologies for the HDL obtained, with the oven-dried HDLs presenting distinct, defined and angled shapes of varying sizes, the freeze-dried ones presenting a rough and inhomogeneous surface, and the atomized ones in a spherical format, showing a difference in the size of the microspheres with the drying parameter. Preliminary adsorption tests were carried out, and LDH efficiently removed some pollutants. Given the results obtained, the materials produced showed physical-chemical and structural differences with the variation in the drying stage, directly influencing the adsorption process.Item type:Item, Pagamentos por serviços ecossistêmicos visando à manutenção dos recursos hídricos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-04) ;Rigonato, Mariana Beraldi ;Mello, Kaline de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1974531968891537 ;Valente, Roberta Avernahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/1582627535733911Changes in land use-land cover by human activities affect hydrological processes and the supply of water ecosystem services. Forests are positively associated with water quality and Brazilian legislation through the Native Vegetation Protection Law (NVPL) (Law no . 12.651/2012) established command and control instruments, such as Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA) and Legal Reserve (LR) to avoid deforestation. However, the areas established by the NVPL are insufficient to avoid diffuse pollution and the deterioration of water bodies. In this context, Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES), an economic incentive instrument, can be an alternative tool for protecting water resources. Therefore, our main objective is to understand how PES programs can be an instrument to enhance the supply of water environmental services in agricultural watersheds. The study was developed in the Sarapuí river basin, SP, using 2019 orbital images from the Sentinel-2ª satellite, with a spatial resolution of 10m, to identify soil use and cover. We carried out water collections every two months in 6 watersheds during 2022 and compared the water quality parameters with collections in 2013/14. We use statistical tests to identify the relationship between land use-land cover with parameters at the scale of the watersheds and PPAs and changes in land use-land cover. We compared the protection of priority areas for conservation to maintain water resources with areas legally protected by the LPVN. In addition to the legal protection scenario (30m PPA), a 100m PPA scenario was simulated to compare the protection of priority areas by the legal scenario and a more conservative scenario. Finally, we used data available from the “Biota-Fapesp Florestal Code” project to identify the deficit of native vegetation on rural properties and also to characterize properties according to size. We identified that all anthropogenic uses in watersheds negatively impact water quality (pasture, agriculture, and urban) and that forest cover is the most positively associated with water quality. Most of the variation in water quality was explained at the watershed scale, which emphasizes the importance of adopting conservation strategies in the watershed as a whole and not only in PPAs. Furthermore, almost 70% of the highest priority areas for PES are outside the limits of PPAs, and there are few deficits in LR and PPAs, which demonstrates that there are no additional conservation incentives on the part of the NPVL. A 100m PPA would increase the protection of these areas by 150%. Therefore, PPAs can be an instrument to finance the conservation and forest restoration of priority areas, especially those not included in the LPVN, to expand the adoption of better agricultural practices and basic sanitation to minimize the impacts of anthropogenic uses on water quality.Item type:Item, História da ciência no ensino de física: uma proposta de sequência de ensino investigativo e seu desdobramento no contexto do currículo paulista(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-04) ;Oliveira, Nathália Andrade Candido de ;Furlan, Elaine Gomes Matheus ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3179865576965852 ;Carvalho Neto, João Teles dehttps://lattes.cnpq.br/8622059450756991The central theme of this research is the study of the History of Science in the Teaching of Physics, specifically focusing on optics. From this perspective, we discuss and analyze the curriculum guidelines of the state of São Paulo, aiming to observe their implications for teaching. Consequently, the main objective of the dissertation is to study the History of Science in Physics Education, and as a result, it proposes an Investigative Teaching Sequence (ITS) for the topic of optics. This ITS aims to highlight its developments in relation to the São Paulo Curriculum guidelines, as well as to enhance understanding of aspects related to the Nature of Science. This qualitative research primarily analyzes the Investigative Teaching Sequence in two aspects: its feasibility within the São Paulo Curriculum and the assumptions and conceptual understanding concerning the Nature of Science. Among the findings, we can highlight that the proposed ITS aligns well with the Skills, Competencies, and knowledge objects stated by the São Paulo Curriculum. Furthermore, the ITS adopts a didactic approach that focuses on investigative teaching and develops the History of Science for the Teaching of Optics both coherently and thoroughly. These aspects were identified as gaps in the existing literature and in the São Paulo Curriculum itself. It is important to note that the curriculum, as it is currently structured, tends to diminish the disciplinary specificity and reduce the class time allocated to the physics curriculum component. This could result in less autonomous teaching and restrict students' access to certain content. Moreover, the developed ITS aligns with a proper understanding of the aspects related to the Nature of Science, aiming to minimize distorted views on the subject. In conclusion, the research seeks to contribute to the teaching profession, particularly for professionals working within the São Paulo State Department of Education. It also aims to enhance the provision of quality basic education by promoting aspects of teaching and learning in physics, based on the discussions presented here.Item type:Item, Perspectivas gramaticais em livros didáticos de português como língua estrangeira: um recorte documental temporal(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-05) ;Barbizan, Eduardo Alves de Deus ;Augusto-Navarro, Eliane Hercules ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5716027350340906https://lattes.cnpq.br/1212224184353244Considering the relevant increase of teaching and learning Portuguese as a Foreign Language in Brazil and abroad (FURTOSO, 2015; IZAKI GÓMEZ, 2018; GRANATO, 2022; CHAMORRO, 2022), along with the fact that the role of grammar in pedagogical activities generally appears isolated from the discursive flows (BATSTONE, 1994; LARSEN-FREEMAN, 2003; SPADA & LIGHTBOWN, 2008), this doctoral dissertation analyzes how grammar teaching activities are presented in three Portuguese as Foreign Language textbooks published over three decades and with a gap of fifteen years between each of them. More specifically, through documentary research, we have analyzed the perspective of the activities that focus on teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language grammar, based on Batstone's (1994) proposals of grammar as product, process, and skill, to understand the movement in pedagogical activities over the years. The focus on grammar is due to the observation in the classroom practices that learners value its study. We have identified tenuous changes in the types of pedagogical activity proposals that focus on grammar, but with the potential for activities that feature greater contextualization and learners' active involvement in the process of understanding relationships between form, meaning achieved, and Portuguese as a Foreign Language grammar use.Item type:Item, Redução de vogais postônicas mediais na variedade de São Carlos (SP)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-05) ;Rodrigues, Tiago Pereira ;Arantes, Pablo ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9358415148282183https://lattes.cnpq.br/1529903522182452In this doctoral research, we focus on non-final post-stressed vowels, which occur in antepenultimate stress words. Our main goal is to investigate, in the light of Articulatory Phonology, the evident presence and the apparent absence of these vowels. The evident presence of non-final post-stressed vowels is when there are evident visual cues of these vowels in the oscillogram and in the spectrogram. The apparent absence of non-final post-stressed vowels is when there are not evident visual cues of these vowels in the oscillogram and in the spectrogram. We understand both phenomena of evident presence and apparent absence as two faces of a reduction continuum of non-final post-stressed vowels. Our data were collected from two experiments applied to native speakers from the Paulista town of São Carlos. The experiments required oral word production. They allowed us to analyze the hypothesis that the apparent absence of non-final post-stressed vowels tends to be favored by the non-visualization of target words spelling (in this case, the target words are antepenultimate stress words). As regards results, we verified that: (i) in the corpus of this research, the evident presence of non-final post-stressed vowels predominates over the apparent absence of these vowels; (ii) the hypothesis mentioned earlier was not confirmed; (iii) the preceding consonant context and the constriction degree of tongue body gestures involved in the articulation of non-final post-stressed vowels were suggested as the main factor groups that tend to influence the apparent absence of these vowels; (iv) the following consonant context seems to have relevance on this phenomenon; (v) the increase in the duration of preceding consonants tends to influence the duration of the vowels more than the increase in the duration of following consonants; (vi) there is relation between the duration of the vowels and their weakening (we understand weakening as a reduction phenomenon that can be manifested by periodicity loss and an increase in the irregularity of voicing in terms of duration and amplitude of glottal pulses; and (vii) weakening associated to durational decrease tends to be greater for non-final post-stressed vowels than for stressed vowels. Furthermore, we identified, through acoustic analyses, some evidences that can favor the hypothesis that cases of apparent absence of non-final post-stressed vowels can be interpreted as realizations of these vowels totally covered by gestures of adjacent consonants. We compared certain results we obtained for the apparent absence of non-final post-stressed vowels with results obtained by Lima (2008), Ramos (2009) and Silva (2006). These authors investigated what they understand as deletion of non-final post-stressed vowels. From the comparisons, we observed both convergences and divergences between our research and the respective researches by Lima (2008), Ramos (2009) and Silva (2006). Finally, we discussed the concepts of apparent absence, deletion and resyllabification. In doing so, we argued that: (i) apparent absence, contrary to what can be understood as deletion (whether according to traditional theories such as Structuralist Phonology, generative phonologies and Variationist Sociolinguistics or according to Articulatory Phonology), seems not to trigger resyllabification; and (ii) the apparent absence of non-final post-stressed vowels seems not to be influenced by the possibility of violating phonotactic constraints of Portuguese as a function of the hypothesis of what is understood by deletion of non-final post-stressed vowels according to Articulatory Phonology (when no articulatory gestures referring to a non-final post-stressed vowel are activated during speech production).Item type:Item, Judicialização e ativismo judicial na mídia - os efeitos da COVID-19 na imagem pública do Judiciário brasileiro(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-05) ;Ribeiro, Desirée Ferreira Marques ;Oliveira, Fabiana Luci de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9487149052862292 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2324-0106https://lattes.cnpq.br/4448458537304001The research focuses on the public image of the Brazilian Judiciary and aims to analyze its potential influence by historical-contextual factors, as depicted in journalistic portrayals of its performance. The primary objective is to comprehend how the media portrayed the Brazilian Judiciary using the terms "judicialization" and "judicial activism," and to assess whether and how this portrayal was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study encompasses three specific objectives: 1) to comprehend the concepts associated with the terms "judicialization" and "judicial activism" in the twelve months preceding and following the onset of the pandemic; 2) identify the value attributed to these expressions and assess their influence on the public image of the Judiciary; and 3) analyze the thematic framework of news coverage both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research adopts a documentary approach, employing systematic content analysis and thematic framing techniques on news articles published in the Folha de S. Paulo and Globo newspapers from March 20, 2019, to March 20, 2021. The theoretical foundation guiding the analysis revolves around the concept of legitimacy in terms of public support, emphasizing adherence to the values underlying the institution's existence and the decisions it makes. The key finding suggests that the pandemic positively impacted the public image of the Brazilian Judiciary, alleviating persistent criticisms directed at the institution.Item type:Item, Governança no setor público: uma análise nas universidades federais da região Centro-Oeste do Brasil à luz das dimensões e princípios internacionais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-05) ;Silveira, Vanessa Cristina dos Anjos ;Albuquerque, Andrei Aparecido de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9667573506903226https://lattes.cnpq.br/1817933529254519Although public governance is an ally of management, seeking improvements in the provision of services with a focus on citizens and organizational performance, little research explores governance practices in higher education institutions. In this context, the present work aims to identify the level of adherence, analyzing the practices least adopted by federal universities in the Midwest region in relation to the dimensions and principles of governance recommended by international institutions, in order to propose a guide for implementing governance practices. To this end, through applied research, with an exploratory-descriptive objective following the quantitative approach, a survey was applied to five public universities in the Central-West region with the purpose of measuring the percentage of adherence to governance practices, according to two international frameworks, Good Governance in The Public Sector and Study 13. In the qualitative approach, we sought to identify the practices adopted through the analysis of institutional documents and bibliographical survey, according to the Study 13 framework. The results showed that in both frameworks, universities have a medium to high level of adherence, both in the perception of university counselors and through the application of the verification protocol. Opportunities for improvements related to practices in the behavior patterns and control dimension of the Study 13 model were also identified. As a consequence, in the end, a conclusive technical report was presented condensing the main results of this research.Item type:Item, Avaliação da solidificação e da interface de reação de juntas soldadas de ligas Sn-Bi E Sn-Bi-In em substratos de cobre e níquel(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-05) ;Leal, Jaderson Rodrigo da Silva ;Coury, Francisco Gil ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8609825406277730 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0457-2087Spinelli, José EduardoIn order to explore the potential of Sn-Bi-In alloy utilization in soldering operations, the present proposal analyzed the influence of In addition (10 wt.%) on solidification, microstructure, wettability, tensile properties, and interfacial characteristics of the Sn-40%Bi (wt.%) alloy soldered on Cu and Ni substrates. Various techniques were employed for this study, including CALPHAD, DSC, SEM, XRD, wettability tests, and tensile tests. Evaluating the solidification of the Sn-40%Bi-10%In alloy can be quite complex due to the different possible reactions during solidification. In this regard, microstructure assessment was conducted via three processing routes: graphite mold, centrifugation in copper mold, and slow cooling in a goniometer. The microstructure consisted of the following phases: β-Sn, Bi, and InBi. While faster cooling facilitated the formation of Bi+BiIn clusters, a coarse lamellar microstructure was observed under slower solidification conditions. Contact angles were measured against copper and nickel: 24.5±4.7° and 26.2±6.0°, respectively. The formation and growth of alloy/Cu and alloy/Ni reaction layers were also evaluated under different aging conditions of the as-soldered joints (100 °C, 110 °C, and 120 °C for 120 h, 240 h, and 360 h), simulating usage conditions, revealing the influence of In in reducing the reaction layer growth. In the Alloy/Cu system, a 15 days aging period promoted a 495% increase in the reaction layer, whereas for the Ni substrate, the increase was 51%. Lastly, the adhesion of the soldered alloy/Cu and alloy/Ni couples was analyzed through tensile tests. It was observed that the alloy/Ni coupled exhibited better adhesion. The average maximum force for the alloy/Ni system was 163.9 N, while for the alloy/Cu was 133.5 N.Item type:Item, O poder político como Agon - O agonismo do jogo e o antagonismo do enfrentamento(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-05) ;Silva, Natália Pereira Ribeiro da ;Silva, Marisa Lopes da ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5427042421727621 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7609-423XStival, Monica Loyola StivalThe main objective of this study is to understand and analyze political power as Agon, whose meaning refers to struggle, competition and play, enabling us to distinguish between two categories of power: as “agonism and play” and as “antagonism and confrontation”. . To clarify this distinction we resort to the perspective of two contemporary thinkers. On the one hand, Chantal Mouffe (1996) introduces a conception of combative pluralism under the influence of the Nietzschean notion of “war of the gods”, as for her it is necessary to recognize the limits of pluralism, admitting that there is no “us” without the creation of a "they". From this perspective, Mouffe's central arguments develop through the distinction between (i) “politics” (in the “agonistic” sense of dispute and game), as the set of practices and institutions through which an order is created, thus revealing a shared symbolic terrain, whose presence of the “adversary” is fundamental and necessary for the agon to continue; and (ii) the “political” (as antagonism, presupposing a belligerent spirit, of real combat or war), understood as constitutive of human societies and calling into question the impossibility of common ground between the antagonists. On the other hand, Michel Foucault establishes two definitions of politics: (i) one as a “game” of the different arts of governing; and (ii) the other as “confrontation”, politics as clash and/or shock. Foucault analyzes, in the course In Defense of Society (1975-1976), the paradigm of “war” as an eventual principle in the analysis of power relations. This empirical working hypothesis, called “Nietzsche's Hypothesis”, aims to understand to what extent the binary scheme of war, struggle and confrontation of forces, can be effectively identified as the foundation of social relations, at the same time a principle and driving force for the exercise of political power. This frame of reference allows a comparison between Mouffe and Foucault, verifying to what extent their political categories (agonism/antagonism and game/confrontation) come closer or further apart in their meanings, also considering the reference to Nietzsche as a common point, whether as theoretical contribution or as a working hypothesis.Item type:Item, O maternar enlutado: as memórias de uma mãe nos processos de luto e autoconhecimento(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-05) ;Mazzoni, Marcela Fabiana Rodgher ;Joaquim, Regina Helena Vitale Torkomian ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7719481657895650https://lattes.cnpq.br/8752472480250817Pregnancy includes several transformations, both physical and emotional, including changes in hormones and variations in self-esteem. Neonatal loss constitutes a challenge and is a relevant public health indicator. To promote adequate care for mothers and considering that this loss is one of the most complex daily griefs and has impacts on occupations, identity and social participation, it is necessary to study it. Thus, support groups emerge as a welcoming space and provide a better quality of life for bereaved mothers, enabling the expression of feelings and a sense of belonging. Objective: The objective was to understand the mothering experience in the processes of grief and self-knowledge, and to describe the participation of a bereaved mother in a support group for neonatal loss. Materials and Methods: This is a qualitative research, with a case study design, using semi-structured interviews to obtain personal information, the grieving process, before and after the loss and participation in a support group, and the Timeline as an instrument for recording important dates related to participation in the group. Results: Three categories emerged that addressed the impacts on daily life, routine and obstacles in the life of the bereaved mother, the lack of immediate recognition of the maternal occupational identity and the effects of participating in a support group. Conclusion: It is concluded that the mother's strategies, such as the gradual return to activities and her support network to deal with the changes of pregnancy and loss, were essential for her recovery. Furthermore, the construction and recognition of maternal identity, along with changes in daily activities, require time, reframing and support. Participation in a support group also had positive impacts on mourning, adapting to a new routine and facing everyday challenges.Item type:Item, Trajetória formativa de professores da eja que atuam com estudantes público da educação especial(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-06) ;Lira, Diego Oliveira ;Campos, Juliane Aparecida de Paula Perez ;Campos, Juliane Aparecida de Paula Perez ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3169299095370522https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0789-808XConsidering the challenges that guide teacher training, as well as the growing number of enrollments of Public Special Education (PEE) students in common Youth and Adult Education (EJA) classes, the present research had the general objective of analyzing the training trajectory of EJA teachers who work with PEE students, at the Elementary and High School levels. And the specific objectives were: b) identify how the process of continued training of EJA teachers occurs; c) identify the knowledge and demands of EJA teachers in relation to public Special Education students. Eight teachers participated in the study, five male and three female, with ages ranging between 28 and 58 years old. The participants taught at EJA in different schools located in a medium-sized municipality in the northwest region of Ceará and had at least one PAEE student in the classroom. The data collection procedure included individual interviews with a semi-structured protocol, at the teachers' workplace. The interviews were transcribed and validated by judges, with the data organized and analyzed in the form of categorical content analysis. In general terms, among EJA teachers, there was a predominance of initial training in Pedagogy, but with other different degrees, such as Zootechnics; few teachers had experience in participating in continuing or in-service training on the topic of Special Education; the mix of ideas and knowledge that the participating teachers have regarding EJA and Special Education is noticeable, whether through practice or through courses or in-service training; however, there are still deficits in relation to the training of EJA teachers and the need to pay attention to the demands and practices that include Special Education public people inserted in these contexts.Item type:Item, Futebóis em movimento: sexualidades, subjetividades e tensionamentos no circuito esportivo da Champions Ligay(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-06) ;Camargo, Wagner Xavier de ;Toledo, Luiz Henrique de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5366260223109463 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5354-5923https://lattes.cnpq.br/8062918408696939The research unfolded through ethnographies at Champions LiGay, an event that promotes a circuit of sports competitions based on society football played by gay, bisexual, and transgender males. Observations, interactions, and interviews were conducted with amateur players in the Champions LiGay over six years (2018 to 2023), aiming to construct a long-term ethnography. Over this period, the institutionalization of “gay football” and its transformation into “LGBT football” were observed, accompanied by many controversies in this process. As a guiding thread, this study identified tensions among subjects regarding the themes of amateurism vs professionalism, homosexuality vs heterosexuality, and inclusion vs exclusion. Through this realization, it was observed that the notion of “multiple futebóis” is related to an apparent “peaceful coexistence” of sexual and gender diversity in an ostensibly “alternative” football context. Therefore, the empirical analysis of current actions and representations of amateur players served as a starting point to reflect on gender dissonances in this established scenario. The concept of fractals was borrowed to propose a conceptual resizing of the category “multiple futebóis”. In the end, it is concluded that professionalism prevails as a guiding element in sports practices, heterosexuality operates as a “gay prosthesis”, and the proclaimed “inclusion” is merely tolerated coexistence among groups. The research also puts into perspective the idea of political purpose, questioning the future of these ‘futebóis’.Item type:Item, Espinelização em sistemas cerâmicos complexos para aplicações refratárias(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-06) ;Sardelli, José Alvaro Previato ;Pandolfelli, Victor Carlos ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7369376873984839 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1711-9804https://lattes.cnpq.br/5793845745023895Refractory bricks containing carbon and in-situ spinelization [Alumina-Magnesia-Carbon (AMC)] are broadly used in steel secondary refining ladle metallurgy. Due to the increasing demand for cleaner steels, there is a growing interest in bricks free from carbon sources and with higher performance. Unlike current material technologies, focusing on concepts of thermal shock resistance and slag resistance, bricks with engineered microstructures, carbon-free and with in-situ or pre-spinelized spinel, emerge as an alternative to meet the current demand for performance and for the low carbon steels production. The usual formulation involves the addition of electrofused alumina sources (brown or white), magnesia sources, carbon sources (graphite, pitch, carbon black, etc.), antioxidants, and a binder, typically based on resins (phenolic or novolac). As an additional contribution to literature and technology, this study proposed in three different technological approaches: i) a comparison between the most addressed aluminate formation mechanisms in the literature (MgAl2O4), compared to ZnAl2O4 formed in-situ or pre-formed added; ii) the addition of ZnO as a mineralizing agent in the Al2O3-MgO system, aiming for the anticipation of spinelization and its impact on properties at lower temperatures; iii) understanding complex spinels systems (Al2O3-MgO-ZnO) and their potential use for refractory applications. It was observed that the distinct in-situ reaction mechanisms base on the added oxides affected the physical and thermomechanical properties of high-alumina bricks, with the Kirkendall effect displaying a significant role. When evaluating the addition of MgO and ZnO in the same system for in-situ spinelization, a positive synergy was observed between the early spinelization of ZnAl2O4 and the benefits of the presence of MgAl2O4 at high temperatures. Additionally, when adding zinc in the form of pre-formed or complex spinel, considerable improvements in properties were noted, expanding, and innovating the possibilities of using ZnO in refractory ceramics.Item type:Item, Acessibilidade informacional e comunicacional em editais de ingresso da Educação Superior: um estudo de caso(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-06) ;Braseliano, Luana Alves de Abreu ;Cabral, Leonardo Santos Amâncio ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5306031040506357 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3520-3687https://lattes.cnpq.br/8341642245610493Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are important social historical-cultural spaces, for development, through their teaching, research, extension, management and coexistence activities. However, people with disabilities have found it difficult to access the information that guarantees the materialization of their formal rights to enter, stay and graduate from this level of education. Against this backdrop, the general aim of this research was to identify and analyze, from an accessibility perspective, the communication and information elements that make up undergraduate admission notices. Specifically, the aim was to: (a) identify the main variables that cross-cut the drafting and/or revision of formal documents with a communicational and informational accessibility approach; (b) understand students' perspectives in relation to higher education admission instruments; (c) analyze the facilitating and hindering communicational, informational and technological aspects present in digital assets related to undergraduate admission notices; (d) propose structural, informational, linguistic and technological guidelines for preparing accessible notices. This is a predominantly qualitative case study. Data was collected at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), both online and in person. The research included the participation of three subjects linked to UFSCar: a disabled undergraduate student, a civil servant responsible for drafting, reviewing and disseminating the public notice and a disabled civil servant involved in the entrance exam boards. The data was processed based on its content and analyzed using the theoretical approach of Institutional Analysis. The results indicate aspects that facilitate and hinder in culture, administration, in the content of the information and in the communication structure of the admissions notice. They are scientifically relevant because they methodologically and theoretically systematize ways of analyzing and improving documents; academically relevant because they enable feedback on a cooperative approach to resolving institutional issues; and socially relevant because they materialize rights proving the population with more access, accessibility and accessibilization.Item type:Item, Desenvolvimento microestrutural, resistências mecânica e à corrosão de ligas Mg-Si e Mg-Si-Zn para aplicações biomédicas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-03-06) ;Gouveia, Guilherme Lisboa de ;Koga, Guilherme Yuuki ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0933095081175012 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0792-1139Spinelli, José EduardoThe absorbable alloys, especially those based on Mg, have stood out in biomedical applications due to the possibility of eliminating the need for implant removal surgeries. In the scope of this PhD study, Mg-0.6%Si, Mg-1.3%Si, Mg-1.7%Si, Mg-0.6%Si-2%Zn, and Mg-0.6%Si-3%Zn alloys were examined using the directional solidification technique. This technique allowed for a wide range of cooling rates, enabling a comprehensive evaluation of microstructural characteristics and tensile mechanical properties. Additionally, the corrosion behavior of two microstructural conditions (𝜆2 of 11 and 41 μm) of the Mg-0.6%Si-2%Zn alloy in SBF (simulated body fluid) for 7 days was analyzed. In general terms, microstructures composed of Mg-rich dendrites and eutectic microconstituent (Mg+Mg2Si) were observed in Mg-0.6%Si, Mg-0.6%Si-2%Zn, and Mg-0.6%Si-3%Zn alloys. In ternary alloys, structures composed of the eutectic microconstituent Mg+MgZn were also identified for low cooling rates (below 0.48°C/s for the 2%Zn alloy and 0.44°C/s for the 3%Zn alloy). In the case of the Mg-1.3%Si alloy, predominantly a eutectic cellular microstructure (Mg+Mg2Si) was observed, while the Mg-1.7%Si alloy exhibited a typical structure of hypereutectic alloys in the Mg-Si system. The Mg-0.6%Si alloy showed a higher tensile strength limit compared to the Mg-1.7%Si alloy, due to the increase in the Mg2Si fraction with increasing Si, an effective phase in stress concentration. On the other hand, the Mg-1.3%Si alloy, composed of the eutectic microconstituent, revealed a clear dependence between tensile strength limit and cell spacing, being the worst among the three binary alloys. In the case of ternary alloys, the higher the Zn content, the higher the mechanical strength. Corrosion analysis allowed evaluating the electrochemical characteristics throughout the transient regime and the apparent stabilization during the immersion period. The results obtained in the analysis of the Mg-0.6%Si-2%Zn alloy indicate that the electrochemical response is little influenced by dendritic spacing.
