Urban mobility has been becoming increasingly important for the operation of cities, currently the greatest expressions of the human organization of life in society. As is related to the access to the various opportunities offered and daily activities in the urban environment, the growing interest in its planning has been consolidating, while its importance and complexity is beginning to be understood. In Brazil, urban mobility planning is the object of Urban Mobility Plans, mandatory for all municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants and that also have to elaborate Master Plans. In this context, the city of Araraquara, in the interior of São Paulo, in the process of its Urban Mobility Plan review, had several studies capable of diagnosing the conditions of transport, travels and mobility in its territory. In order to continue these papers, this research aims to apply spatial analysis and spatial statistics techniques to identify and understand patterns related to population travels. Using a Geographic Information System (GIS), a statistical computing environment and a spatial data analysis software, the data collected in the Origin-Destination Survey (O/D) conducted between 2020 and 2021 were used. The analyzes seek to complement previous papers, considering the spatial aspects of income, age, gender, reasons for travel and level of education related to travels using different modes of transportation. The results indicate that the significant distributions of each variable are similar to the distributions of trips as a whole, mostly around the central region and its surroundings, which proves to be a solid urban nucleus. Other secondary and emerging centers are identified in peripheral regions, mainly using alternative modes to the car. In fact, the analyzes can contribute to obtaining additional subsidies for public policies and urban mobility planning in Araraquara.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-07-29) Nascimento, Gleicy Lopes; Rodrigues, Tatiane Cosentino; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8361431964064731; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4402-2805; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3143604340056359; https://orcid.org/0009-0006-4436-9442
Although women dominate the management of public education in the municipality of Guarulhos, the representation of Black women in decision-making and leadership roles remains disproportionately low. Furthermore, there is a lack of research addressing the barriers these women face in accessing such positions. The intersection of gender, race, and class plays a crucial role in shaping the life trajectories of Black women, particularly in relation to their access to the labor market. This exploratory, qualitative study aims to map the presence of Black women in leadership roles within the school management system in Guarulhos. The second phase of the research, which builds upon the mapping, involves interviews designed to explore their personal trajectories, as well as their political and pedagogical actions within these management spaces. The central hypothesis of this study is that Black women view education as a platform for struggle, empowerment, and resistance, thereby reimagining the role of school management.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-07-29) Ribeiro, Elen Pessoa de Queiroz; Amarante Júnior, Ozelito Possidônio de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7857430001310706; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9604-9463; Oliveira, Celso Maran de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9911833172043700; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6442-3614; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1314612121213589; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9220-4251
Citizen Lawsuits and Public Civil Actions, validate participatory democracy and, therefore, allows the achievement of environmental justice. Control made by the population should not only guarantee the protection of fundamental rights brought by the 1988 Federal Constitution, but, also, allow the will of the community to be respected. It reflects the Social State, whose freedoms granted to citizens allow the formation of critical thinking that transcends the individual. In this sense, the present research aimed to answer the following question: are Citizen Lawsuits and Public Civil Actions effective legal instruments that allow individuals, in the exercise of citizenship, to successfully protect the environment? To answer this question, data regarding Citizen Lawsuits and Public Civil Actions, in the state of São Paulo, in the period from 2015 to 2022, was collected in the National Register of Collective Actions of the National Council of Justice. The information found was analyzed according to the concepts of efficiency, effectiveness, according to the principle 10 of the Rio de Janeiro Declaration about Environment and Development and Sustainable Development Goal number 16 (SDG 16), which brings popular participation, access to justice and access information as essential elements to occur environmental protection by society. This research aimed to understand how these constitutional instruments were used: who were the protagonists in their use and how their treatment is carried out, once they have entered judiciary system. The data found showed that, in addition to the low number of Public Civil Actions, which were filed by associations, Popular Action also proved to be an underused instrument. The absence of popular participation is not the only factor that would explain these results: the conduction of the legal process itself also proved to be a limiting factor that discourages the use of these instruments.

Unrestricted access to research data in digital repositories represents one of the pillars of Open Science. In this context, the proper assignment of thematic metadata during the archiving of such data is crucial, as it facilitates their retrieval and reuse. To ensure the effectiveness of this process, digital repositories, especially those that allow self-archiving practices, must provide scientific authors with documents containing clear guidelines for the assignment of descriptor terms and keywords to deposited data. Based on this premise, the following question arises: How do the guidelines of research data repositories linked to Brazil, Spain, and Portugal guide scientific authors in assigning keywords during the self-archiving process?. The main objective of this study is to analyze the guiding criteria present in the guidelines for the indexing of research data in digital repositories associated with these three nations, aiming to contribute to the formalization of more structured and transparent indexing procedures. The research adopts an applied, qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, with bibliographic and documental data collection. The research universe consisted of digital repositories identified in the re3data directory. The analysis of documents from 21 (twenty-one) repositories qualified for investigation revealed that none of these self-archiving systems provides a formal document specifically titled "Indexing Policy" that addresses the thematic content representation of research data. Although such a document was not made available, it could serve as a basis for the development of complementary materials, such as Indexing Manuals, Self-Archiving Guides, and Instructions for Assigning Keywords. To meet the research objective, 15 (fifteen) guiding criteria for the assignment of keywords were identified and analyzed, defined based on the theoretical framework of the study and observations from the analyzed documents. It was found that the guidelines of the examined repositories do not comprehensively address all the essential aspects of effective keyword assignment by scientific authors. The instructions provided are often superficial and lack depth and relevance, with documents that do not present sufficiently structured and clear procedures. The study concludes that improving the quality of guiding documents for indexing, especially in self-archiving practices, should be a priority for the institutions responsible for managing these repositories. The criteria presented in this research can serve as a foundation for creating more efficient and robust documents capable of more accurately guiding scientific authors in the thematic representation of their research data.

This work presents a methodology for calculating the lifecycle of mechanical shafts using the SN (Stress-Number) diagram, with a focus on implementing effective predictive maintenance. Traditionally, industrial maintenance was reactive, addressing failures only after their occurrence, which resulted in high costs and unexpected downtimes. Predictive maintenance, however, allows for the prediction of fatigue failures based on statistical analyses and past performance, facilitating timely interventions and extending the lifespan of components. The developed methodology involves the collection of geometric and material data of the shafts, application of loads, and performing stress and strength calculations. Using the SN diagram, the system predicts the durability of the shafts and stores this information in a continuously updated database. This database allows for accurate and predictive analysis of the components' condition, aiding in the identification of critical points and in planning maintenance interventions before catastrophic fatigue failures occur. The developed system not only contributes to the reduction of operational costs but also improves the efficiency and safety of industrial operations. By implementing a robust solution for the predictive maintenance of mechanical shafts, this work establishes a solid foundation for future research and advancements in the field of industrial maintenance.

The control of diseases caused by highly contagious microorganisms is a current global challenge, where mass vaccination has shown a positive impact but faces limitations in terms of development and availability. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for rapid interventions, such as lockdowns and mask usage, highlighted the importance of effective decontamination strategies. Recent studies indicate that metal nanoparticles and transition metal oxides can be a promising solution, with physicochemical properties that enable the effective elimination of pathogens. However, to ensure better applicability, the use of biopolymer chitosan is of extreme interest, as it presents biocompatibility and antimicrobial activity. Therefore, this work aims to present synthesis methods related to nanoparticles, the mechanisms associated with biocidal action, as well as the possible applications of these as surface coatings, food packaging, among others.
