Item type:Item, A articulação da nova direita brasileira em busca de hegemonia: um estudo do caráter educativo do Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-06) ;Silva, Milena Alessandra da ;Rothen, José Carlos ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1942510389127549 ;https://orcid.org/0009-0002-3736-7650https://lattes.cnpq.br/8325535275895706This study is the result of a central question that is summarized below: How does the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL) articulate itself to promote a political and educational character in favor of building consensus? To achieve this, we rely on a theoretical framework covered by the concept of Hegemony, through Gramsci (1989; 2017), we reflect on the developments of the term New Right, through Casimiro (2018), Gallego (2018; 2019) and Rocha (2018; 2019). Considering the objective of the study to analyze the content disseminated on the official page of Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL) on Instagram, between 2019 and 2020, they seek to promote an educational practice and basic training aligned with the consensus of the new rights. We adopted a methodological rigor offered by the concept of Cyberactivism (Maia, 2016; Resende, 2019; Ferreira, 2017) and used a systematization of content analysis discussed by Bardin (2011) and Reiff (2022) to determine the 12 publications on the MBLivre page. This path followed an analytical investigation that highlights the MBL as militant leaders of the New Right who operate under educational mechanisms in the networks, promoting the construction of a consensus aligned with the bourgeois class. Item type:Item, Caracterização de aspectos físicos, uso e cobertura do solo e diagnóstico ambiental na bacia hidrográfica do rio Apiaí-Guaçu, município de Buri-SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-08) ;Santos, Lucas José Cruz dos ;Toledo, André Marcondes Andrade ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1920147531988000https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3084-199XThe removal or alteration of native vegetation areas causes severe environmental impacts, potentially resulting in biodiversity loss, changes in the hydrological cycle, and soil degradation. This modification of native cover is intrinsically linked to Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) and Conservation Units (UC). Given the scarcity of studies in the Apiaí-Guaçu River region, this study aims to characterize land use and cover, as well as physical, biotic, and climatic aspects, in addition to conducting an environmental and socio-economic diagnosis of the Apiaí-Guaçu River basin. The study also aims to characterize land use and occupation, as well as areas of environmental restriction, focusing on the municipality of Buri/SP, through geoprocessing techniques. The graphical elements produced, combined with analysis and quantification tools, provided significant results for understanding and evaluating the region's dynamics. The average Human Development Index (HDI) for the area is 0.693. Land use and land cover between 1985 and 2022 underwent significant changes, with a notable increase in areas of soy, sugarcane, perennial crops, and urban areas, while forest cover showed a reduction. Regarding the Permanent Preservation Areas in the municipality of Buri, it was observed that approximately 26.07% of these areas are used for agriculture (20.6 km²) and non-vegetated areas (3.58 km²). The results obtained in this study contributed to a better understanding of the area in question and can assist in future decision-making, guiding management and conservation strategies.Item type:Item, Dorian Gray deve morrer: uma leitura de O retrato de Dorian Gray sob as lentes da tantopolítica e da monstruosidade(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-09) ;Vollet, Bruna ;Laks, Daniel Marinho ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9531610287211600https://lattes.cnpq.br/2020091824443379The aim of this work is to propose an interpretation of the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (1891) through the lenses of the concept of thanatopolitics by Roberto Esposito (2010) and of the seven theses of monster by Jeffrey Jerome, accepting degenerate body and monster as interchangeable terms. To this end, we examine whether the narrative text distinguishes community from the degenerate body, enabling the consideration of the character Dorian Gray as a camouflaged monster. Esposito (2010), in his book Bíos, discusses the concept of thanatopolitics in conjunction with the semantics of biology, medicine, and related fields, exploring how the core of sovereign power is directed toward maintaining the health of the social body. This involves the creation of mechanisms to eliminate parts that could infect and compromise it. The cycle of life comprises four stages: regeneration, degeneration, eugenics, and genocide, all aimed at protecting health and saving the degenerate body. Furthermore, this body becomes a non-human, an other, living on the margins of society and beyond moral and legal influences, rendering it susceptible to violence imposed by sovereign power. Cohen (1996), on the other hand, explores the monster as a representation of society and culture, emphasizing its role as a tool for maintaining order and morality through the embodiment of what is different and must be feared. The monster embodies the latent fears of a given society, which may be political, sexual, racial, religious, gender-based, or otherwise. Our interpretation identifies Dorian as the degenerate body whose infection operates at a blood level, thus hidden from the community and free from condemnation. This concealment allows him to consolidate his position as a monster through this granted camouflage. His immoral and heinous actions, however, expose the monster until his inevitable downfall, as the existence of the degenerate body is unsustainable within this community. We conclude that the novel enables such interpretation and promotes strategies for the logic of thanatopolitics to unfold, promoting Dorian's salvation, as it is, the only possible outcome.Item type:Item, Designing sustainable soil conditioners: nanocomposite-based thermoplastic starch for enhanced soil health and crop performance(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-11) ;Rodrigues, Jéssica de Souza ;Freitas, Amanda de Sousa Martinez de ;Vieira, Henrique ;Emidio, Livia SouzaAmaro, StefannyThe growing demand for sustainable solutions in agriculture, driven by global population growth and increasing soil degradation, has intensified the search for sustainable soil conditioners. This study investigated the impact of adding nanoclay (NC) and nano lignin (NL) to thermoplastic starch (TPS) on its physical, chemical, and thermal properties, its effectiveness as a soil conditioner, and its resistance to UV-C degradation. TPS nanocomposites were prepared with varying NC (3 %, 5 %, 7 %) and NL (0.3 %, 0.5 %, 0.7 %) proportions and characterized by FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis), and DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry). Swelling tests, phosphate buffer solubility, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and UV-C degradation resistance were evaluated. Results indicated that incorporating 7 % NC (TPS/NC7%) significantly improved TPS’s CEC and swelling properties. Conversely, adding 0.3 % NL (TPS/NC7%/NL0.3 %) improved photodegradation resistance and thermal stability. The TPS/NC7%/NL0.3 % nanocomposites also demonstrated superior water retention in soil, efficient absorption and controlled release of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK) fertilizer, significant reduction in the leaching of NH4+, H2PO4 , and K+ ions, and antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, highlighting their biodegradability and potential as soil conditioners to promote agricultural sustainability. Additionally, tests conducted on cherry tomatoes confirmed the effectiveness of these nanocomposites under real cultivation conditions, with improved seedling development when using the TPS/NC7%/NL0.3 % soil conditioner.Item type:Item, Efeito alelopático do extrato etanólico de Esenbeckia leiocarpa Engl. sobre a germinação e o desenvolvimento de plântulas de picão-preto (Bidens pilosa L.), amendoim-bravo (Euphorbia heterophylla L.) e capim-amargoso (Digitaria insularis (L.) Fedde).(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-13) ;Barbosa, Lucas ;Monquero, Patricia Andrea ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2766526793830455 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9123-1861https://lattes.cnpq.br/3027445638580407The improper use of herbicides poses risks to both the environment and human health, in addition to contributing to the selection of tolerant weed species or resistant biotypes. In this context, allelopathy emerges as a promising alternative for weed management. In Brazil, Esenbeckia leiocarpa (commonly known as “guarantã”) is a native species with underexplored allelopathic potential. Aiming to identify alternatives to herbicide use, this study evaluated the allelopathic potential of the ethanolic extract of E. leiocarpa at different concentrations on the germination and development of Bidens pilosa, Euphorbia heterophylla, and Digitaria insularis. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design (CRD), in a 5 × 3 factorial arrangement, with five extract concentrations (0%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%, and 20%) and three weed species, with four replications. Evaluations included germination percentage (G%), root length reduction (mm), and signs of phytotoxicity in the tested weed species. A concentration of 2.5% already caused a significant reduction in the germination of all evaluated species. E. heterophylla showed slightly greater tolerance at lower concentrations; however, germination was completely inhibited for all species at concentrations equal to or above 10%. In the growth bioassays, root length of the seedlings was reduced by approximately 50% from the 5% concentration. Regarding phytotoxicity, concentrations of 10% or higher induced more than 80% phytotoxicity in all species, indicating severe toxicity. Among the tested species, D. insularis was particularly more sensitive, suggesting a higher susceptibility to the extract. The results indicate that the weed species responded differently to the E. leiocarpa leaf extract, which contains allelochemicals capable of interfering primarily with germination and early development. Therefore, E. leiocarpa shows promise as a bioherbicide for pre-emergence applications against the studied weed species.Item type:Item, Juntas híbridas TPU/AA6061-T6 moldadas por injeção com alta resistência interfacial via tratamentos de superfície baseados em silano(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-13) ;Vasconcelos, Rayana Larissa ;Canevarolo Júnior, Sebastião Vicente ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4153664441338178 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7959-1872Canto, Leonardo BrescianiThe fabrication of polymer-metal hybrid structures with high mechanical performance is related to the constituent materials of such structure, as well as the surface treatments applied to promote polymer-metal adhesion. In this work, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and 6061-T6 aluminum alloy hybrid joints with high interfacial strength were developed by injection overmolding, with metal inserts treated consecutively by abrasion, oxidation and silanization, using different solution concentrations and pH, and a post-molding heat treatment. Metal inserts treated with 2% v/v and pH 10 presented a more hydrophilic surface compared to untreated metal inserts, which contributed to the subsequent polymer-metal adhesion. Analysis of the hybrid joints cross-section indicated the formation of an aluminum oxide layer and a partial TPU infiltration into microcavities on the metal surface. In shear testing, the hybrid joints showed an asymptotic mechanical behavior, in which the force increased continuously up to approximately 3 mm of displacement and, from that point on, remained nearly constant until failure. This suggests that, up to 3 mm of displacement, the measured force is equivalent to the interfacial strength of the hybrid joints. From 3 mm, the TPU intrinsic mechanical strength began to show a more considerable influence on the mechanical behavior of the hybrid joints, since as the material reached its yield point. From 3 mm until the moment of failure, the measured force became a function of the plastic deformation of the TPU. Therefore, the interfacial strength of the hybrid joints was greater than the intrinsic mechanical strength of the TPU, proving the efficiency of the surface treatments applied in the adhesion and performance of the TPU/AA6061-T6 hybrid joints.Item type:Item, Mercado livre de energia: avanços legislativos e impactos na transição energética brasileira(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-13) ;Coimbra, Gabriela Oliveira ;Tiezzi, Rafael de Oliveira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7979063304544915https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8682-7807The free energy market in Brazil has been consolidating as a strategic mechanism to promote competitiveness and sustainability in the energy sector. With regulatory flexibility and incentives for the use of renewable sources, the Free Contracting Environment (ACL) has played a fundamental role in the sector’s modernization. This study analyzes the historical and regulatory evolution of the ACL, highlighting milestones such as Law No. 9.074/1995 and the recent Ordinances 514/2018 and 50/2022, which expanded consumer access to the free market. The research, qualitative and exploratory in nature, is based on a bibliographic review to understand the benefits and challenges of the ACL in the energy transition. Among the main benefits are cost reduction, freedom to choose suppliers, and encouragement of clean energy sources such as solar and wind. However, challenges such as the need for infrastructure investments, access regulation, and the intermittency of renewable sources still pose obstacles to market expansion. The analysis indicates that the full opening of the ACL, as proposed in bills like PL 414/2021, could democratize access to sustainable energy and increase sector competitiveness. However, this transition requires regulatory adjustments, rebalancing of sectoral charges, and measures to ensure security and stability in the electrical system. Finally, the study presents recommendations for strengthening the ACL, including regulatory improvements, consumer training, and incentives for distributed generation, aiming for a more efficient, accessible, and sustainable energy market.Item type:Item, Cultura de segurança do paciente entre enfermeiros em um contexto hospitalar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-14) ;Reis, Flávio César Braga ;Souto , Bernardino Geraldo Alves ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7264826508407685 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4083-3050https://lattes.cnpq.br/754515730171801Studies show that 10% of those receiving hospital care are subject to at least one adverse event related to this care. One of the strategies to reduce these events is to develop a qualified patient safety culture among multidisciplinary teams in health institutions. This quantitative, cross-sectional, observational study analyzed the patient safety culture among nurses in a hospital, with an emphasis on the aspects that hinder or favor this safety in the studied location. Seventy-two nurses were interviewed in a philanthropic hospital in the interior of the state of São Paulo using the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire, in the Likert scale model. The findings were described statistically, comparing the profile and responses to the questionnaires applied to professionals in critical areas with those applied to professionals in non-critical areas. Of these 72 interviews, 61 were effectively used. Nurses in critical and non-critical areas had similar professional profiles and ages. Most were under 33 years old, worked daytime in the healthcare area, had completed their undergraduate degree more than 5 years ago, and had worked at the institution for less than 5 years. The overall perception of patient safety had an unsatisfactory score in both areas. Stratifying by domains, the perception was satisfactory only in relation to Teamwork Climate and Job Satisfaction, both of which favor a safety culture. In general, a need was detected for improvements related to patient safety culture in the institution studied, especially in the domains that favor it, with emphasis on Safety Climate, Perception of Stress, Perception of Management, and Working Conditions.Item type:Item, Conservação do meio ambiente: uma análise do conteúdo em livros didáticos de ciências e dos materiais digitais do centro de mídias da educação de São Paulo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-15) ;Lima, Everton Xavier de ;Piratelli, Augusto João ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4747322084219058 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0268-4007https://lattes.cnpq.br/5106385121064949This study aims to investigate the approach to environmental conservation in textbooks for elementary school students, as well as in digital materials made available by the São Paulo Education Media Center (CMSP). The research analyzes the structure and content of the works, highlighting the presence and depth of themes related to environmental conservation, with the following criteria: 1) Approach to environmental conservation content, assessing whether the books present concepts related to conservation in a clear, precise and accessible manner; 2) Approach to the reality of the students, verifying whether the examples are relevant and reflect real and current environmental problems; 3) Interdisciplinary and contextualized approach, verifying whether the content considers knowledge from other areas and social, cultural and economic aspects; 4) Identifying whether the books and digital materials propose actions to solve the problems described; 5) Critical and reflective approach, analyzing whether the materials provide reflections on those responsible for the damage caused to the environment. The results indicate that, although some content is covered, such as burning and water conservation, the analysis reveals a lack of depth and a superficial approach, which limits the discussion to individual practices without promoting critical reflection on broader environmental issues. The study concludes that further development of content related to environmental conservation in teaching materials is necessary in order to foster more effective and critical environmental education among students.Item type:Item, Exploring ground-state and ionization potentials of the H2CO...HNO dimers(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-15) ;Souza, Gabriel Luiz Cruz de ;Peterson, Kirk Arnold ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2821352329397835 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3442700129094678https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2192-7345In this work, we performed an investigation on the structures and ionization potentials (IPs) of the H2CO...HNO dimer. The ground-state properties of six conformations were explored using the coupled cluster with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations, CCSD(T), approach with large correlation consistent basis sets. Conformation III presented the strongest hydrogen-bonding interaction (with the NH...O distance being 2.016 Å) and was assigned as the most stable among the conformations. In addition, twelve lowest-lying IPs of all the H2CO...HNO conformations were determined using the equation-of-motion ionization potential coupled-cluster with single and double excitations method (EOMIP-CCSD) combined with correlation consistent basis sets, extrapolation to the complete basis set limit, and consideration of core correlation effects. The first IP of conformation III was determined to be 10.46 eV, while the corresponding values for conformations I and II were found as being lower than the value obtained for conformation III by 0.41 eV and 0.24 eV, respectively. These differences (that were also noticed for other low-lying IPs) may be helpful for the assignments of experimental results and, thus, it is expected that the outcomes from this work may serve as motivation for other experimental and theoretical investigations involving H2CO...HNO dimers (particularly studies that rely on the quantities obtained here).Item type:Item, Mobilidade e atividade cerebral de crianças e adolescentes com paralisia cerebral(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-17) ;Sudati, Isabella Pessóta ;Rocha, Nelci Adriana Cicuto Ferreira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2035754554780009 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3191-3086Campos, Ana Carolina deIn recent years, the incorporation of evidence-based practices has been strongly encouraged in the treatment of children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP). However, although mobility is a significant limitation for these individuals, interventions with this focus still lack studies that describe their effective components and mechanisms of action. This thesis aimed to contribute to this topic through three studies, synthesizing the available evidence on the effectiveness of mobility-focused interventions, as well as the relationships between neural reorganization and mobility in CP, and investigating the implementation of a mobility-focused intervention proposal. Study I summarized the neural correlates of mobility in children with CP found in the literature. The reviewed studies indicated that children with CP have increased brain activity and greater variability in cerebral reorganization during mobility activities and gross motor tasks compared to typically developing children. The review highlighted the importance of further studies investigating neural correlates during mobility activities to guide neurorehabilitation strategies aimed at supporting the implementation of effective intervention strategies for children with CP. Study II aimed to systematically review the available evidence on intensive mobility training in CP and determine the minimum effective dose to improve mobility. It was found that task-oriented training (TOT) can improve walking speed, endurance, and balance. Studies with homogeneous samples and outcomes are needed to support clinical recommendations for intensive mobility interventions and to clarify the minimum effective dose for these outcomes. Study III presented an innovative intervention proposal called Mobility Intensive Training (Mob-IT), which incorporated contemporary principles for promoting changes in mobility performance and explored mechanisms associated with change and preliminary effectiveness of the intervention in children and adolescents with CP through a single-subject design study, systematically describing the implementation of the training elements. After the intervention, clinically significant changes in mobility were observed through the TUG test, PEDI-CAT, walking speed and cadence, gross motor function, performance and satisfaction scores related to the intervention goals, which varied among individuals according to the trained goals, as well as a decrease in brain demand for task execution. To conclude, this thesis contributed a framework of evidence on mobility-focused interventions and demonstrated the mechanisms of neural reorganization and their impact on the mobility of children and adolescents with CP. Finally, it was possible to demonstrate that intensive mobility training can promote brain and biomechanical changes in mobility tasks, which facilitated understanding of the favorable intervention outcomes for each individual. Thus, the results provide elements to support the principles currently recommended for therapeutic interventions, promote their incorporation into clinical practice, and encourage ongoing research that may facilitate the implementation of evidence-based practices.Item type:Item, A formação administrativa do gestor escolar na prestação de contas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-20) ;Bitar, Fernanda Lúcia Miranda ;Reis, Denise Maria ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1224343794340576 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9172-3711https://lattes.cnpq.br/6268095350990198The training of pedagogue in Brazil licenses him/her to teach in early childhood education and in the early years of primary education, and to work in the management of basic education schools but does not always prepare him/her sufficiently for administrative and bureaucratic activities, particularly those related to financial management and accountability, of educational institutions. This work aims to understand, through bibliographical research and qualitative analysis, how the school manager, with emphasis on the school director, learns to carry out the accountability of the school unit, locating technical and political aspects of their administrative training and identifying the challenges faced in financial management. The results indicate doubts and contradictions in public policies and processes of decentralization, autonomy and management of schools, in addition to lack of specific knowledge for financial execution and accountability on the part of school managers. Thus, administrative qualification is emphasized, not only pedagogically, but also financially, ethically and politically in the initial and continuing training courses for teachers and professionals in management team of public schools, transcending the learning acquired in daily practices.Item type:Item, Relações evolutivas e história demográfica em espécies de Harttia Steindachner, 1876(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-20) ;Sassi, Francisco de Menezes Cavalcante ;Cioffi, Marcelo de Bello ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0242034365085727 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4340-1464https://lattes.cnpq.br/0672256424755687This thesis explores the evolutionary, cytogenomic, and filogeographic relationships of the genus Harttia, a genus of fish widely distributed across Brazil. Due to its diversity of sex chromosome systems, including simple (XX/XY) and multiple (XX/XY1Y2 and X1X1X2X2/X1X2Y) systems found in approximately 28% of cytogenetically investigated species, Harttia stands out as one of the few natural repositories of multiple sex chromosomes, offering unique insights into chromosomal evolution. We generated novel data for six species (H. dissidens, H. duriventris, H. guianensis, H. rondoni, H. villasboas and Harttia sp. 3), integrating cytogenetic, genomic and phylogeographic methodologies. The thesis pioneered the proposal of a phylogeny for the genus using genome-wide data (DArTseq SNPs), enhancing perspectives on evolutionary relationships by characterizing the three major clades associated with different biogeographic regions: one composed of species from the Guiana Shield (Clade I), another by species from the drainages of Northern Brazil (Clade II), and the third by species from Southern and Southeastern Brazil (Clade III). Biogeographic modeling suggests that the genus’ ancestor inhabited the Amazon, Paraná, or South Atlantic coastal basins, with secondary colonization into the Tocantins-Araguaia, São Francisco, and East Atlantic basins. Cytogenetic analyses (mapping of repetitive DNAs by FISH, comparative genomic hybridization - CGH, and whole chromosome painting - WCP) revealed that half of the species studied here have distinguishable sex chromosomes, including new occurrences of the X1X2Y multiple system and the first occurrence of XX/XY in a clade II species. The chromosome number evolution modeling data and sex linked markers suggests that these systems derive from an ancestor with a 2n = 58 karyotype and XX/XY system, sharing sex-linked markers among species of clades I and III, and suggesting a turnover event in clade II. Additionally, sex-linked markers indicate that all 16 investigated species exhibit a male heterogametic sex chromosome system (eight previously known for their cytogenetic heteromorphism), suggesting the presence of simple homomorphic systems (XX/XY) in eight species (H. dissidens, H. guianensis, Harttia sp. 3, H. kronei, H. longipinna, H. loricariformis, H. gracilis, and H. fowleri). Furthermore, while the fusion of sex chromosomes with autosomes enabled the emergence of multiple sex systems in clade III, chromosome painting data show that chromosome fissions were crucial for the differentiation of sex chromosomes in clade II. Chromosomal differentiation, investigated through repetitive DNAs (satellites, microsatellites, ribosomal DNAs), suggests that geographic isolation and historical factors shaped the genetic structure and evolutionary divergence within the genus. In conclusion, this work contributes significantly to understanding the cytogenomics and demographic evolution of Harttia, establishing it as a valuable model for exploring diversification in Neotropical environments.Item type:Item, Lean em uma pequena empresa de fabricação de estruturas metálicas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-21) ;Bizetti, Alexandre Daniel ;Lage Júnior, Murís ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9666500788789379 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0216-6365https://lattes.cnpq.br/8077879662740443In a heated market context, companies must operate using economically sustainable models, to develop activities/processes that add value to customers, stakeholders, and their employees. Understanding the value flow of their services and products can be the competitive edge in the market in which they operate. Value means waste-free processes. Waste must be eliminated because the customer does not want to pay for it. In 2023, according to the SEBRAE Agency, the creation of small and medium-sized companies was 6.62% higher compared to the previous year, around 859 thousand new businesses. There is a justification for looking at this group since globally, the vast majority of businesses are under the category of small and medium-sized companies. The use of Lean Thinking is one of the most powerful tools available, creating value while eliminating waste. Using Action Research as a research method in the application of lean manufacturing, a small metal structure manufacturing company opened its doors for this work to be developed, a company that had never applied Lean in its production process. Taking important steps in its journey of continuous improvement, which involves process safety, value stream mapping, creation of key performance indicators, use of the 5S methodology, application of Just-in-time, and inventory control, the company studied and developed strategic actions to achieve results such as freeing up 20% of available physical space for storage and reducing lead time by approximately 53%.Item type:Item, Resíduos nos ecossistemas costeiros e marinhos do Brasil: uma análise dos dados do projeto Blue Keepers(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-21) ;Mistro, Priscila ;Tiezzi, Rafael de Oliveira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7979063304544915https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8682-7807Plastic waste pollution is one of the main threats to marine and coastal ecosystems, compromising biodiversity, marine fauna, and human quality of life. This study combines a literature review with the analysis of primary data collected between 2021 and 2024 by the Blue Keepers project, part of the UN Global Compact - Brazil Network, using tools such as Webmapa and the National Waste Inventory. The objective is to identify and classify the waste collected in the project's sample collections, map the main escape points (hotspots) of these materials into coastal and marine ecosystems, and assess their environmental impacts. The results reveal that plastics account for the largest share of the waste found, being particularly critical in mangrove, beach, and river areas. Additionally, the research highlights the need for effective public policies and initiatives in waste management and marine pollution mitigation. The conclusion emphasizes that environmental awareness and improved waste management strategies are essential to reducing negative impacts on the oceans and promoting sustainable development aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Item type:Item, A enchente de 2024 e o governo neoliberal de Eduardo Leite: uma análise discursiva de charges brasileiras(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-21) ;Linard, João Pedro Lopes ;Mota, Ilka de Oliveira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9991950104035858 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6637-4310https://lattes.cnpq.br/5828298431627610Supported by the materialist perspective of discourse at the interface with sociological studies on neoliberalism, this research consisted of understanding the discursive representations of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, in 2024, which appeared and circulated in cartoons by Brazilian cartoonists. As specific objectives, we seek: i) Research and analyze the Production Conditions (PCs) of the speech, the floods in Rio Grande do Sul in 2024, which includes coverage of the event by the media on the internet and the functioning of neoliberalism in the economy; ii) Analyze the visual and/or verbal-visual formulation of the cartoons, referring their meanings to the CPs; iii) Discuss the relationship between the cartoons and the Brazilian bourgeois media’s hegemonic interpretation of the event; iv) Analyze how governor Eduardo Leite is represented and, finally, v) Identify the discursive and historical processes with which the cartoons are related, showing how this relationship occurs. Our analytical corpus consisted of three cartoons by each of the cartoonists, namely: Carlos Latuff, Jota Camelo and Nando Motta. We work with the hypothesis that the cartoons that make up the corpus are the materialization of political ideological positions to which the cartoonists are ideologically affiliated, contradicting the hegemonic interpretation that circulated in the Brazilian bourgeois media in the period in question, namely: what it was about of a mere climatic accident, disregarding the political and economic issues. In this interpretation, the responsibilities of public managers who have adopted an inconsequential neoliberal agenda are erased. The analysis of the cartoons showed that, while Jota Camelo focuses on the causes of the problem that generated the flood, that is, on criticizing the neoliberal political economy that produced the disaster and its effects, Carlos Latuff, in turn, focuses on the consequences of the event. On the other hand, except for one, the two other cartoons by Nando Motta are based on a discourse that takes places in the movement of meanings between denunciation and lament, resulting in the erasure of the political and economic issue that is the basis of the 'flood' event.Item type:Item, Monitoramento da biodiversidade em áreas de restauração florestal: uma abordagem integrada de sensoriamento remoto(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-21) ;Matunaga, Heloisa Satie ;Molin, Paulo Guilherme ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1529819650942373 ;https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4587-935Xhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/9947393964985724Floristic biodiversity plays a fundamental role in maintaining ecosystem services and enhancing forest resilience against environmental degradation. In the current context of environmental degradation, Remote Sensing (RS) technologies have emerged as effective alternatives for the assessment and monitoring of floristic biodiversity. Remote monitoring represents an innovative and promising methodology. This study discusses the use of RS data for spatial analysis of floristic biodiversity in forest restoration environments. The methodology is based on the use of the biodivMapR package, which utilizes satellite images and data from remote sensors. The method is capable of generating alpha and beta diversity maps to estimate floristic species diversity (alpha) and ecosystem heterogeneity (beta) in a multi-temporal manner. The results showed that this method effectively evaluates alpha and beta diversity in native vegetation environments, specifically in High Conservation Value Areas (AAVCs) owned by Suzano S.A., located on flat terrains. When forest inventory data is used to calibrate the algorithm, a correlation of 0.7 is observed. The optimal parameters for estimating biodiversity were determined to be a window size of 2 and a cluster size of 60, which served as references for measuring alpha and beta diversity in ecological restoration environments. Between 2014 and 2024, ecological restoration areas demonstrated an increase in species diversity, and the monitoring methodology (biodivMapR) proved effective in measuring gains in floristic biodiversity in these environments. However, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the package for monitoring floristic biodiversity in ecological restoration environments.Item type:Item, Inventário Portage Operacionalizado: alternativa para a identificação de uma criança precoce em creche(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-21) ;Zambom, Juliane ;Rangni, Rosemeire ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6399149504309769 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4706219071145182https://orcid.org /0009-0001-7942-2980The empowerment of individuals whose abilities stand out among their peers is required by specialists in the field of Gifted Education and it is a right guaranteed in the Brazilian educational laws. However, there are few available instruments to identify the students in the schools. The right of those students extends to all levels of education, so children of nursery school age deserve to be identified in order to develop their potential. This research aimed to understand how a special education professional or classroom teacher can identify a precocious kindergarten student in the classroom, using the Inventário Portage Operacionalizado. Thus, the general aim of the research was to verify indicators of precociousness in students of nursery school age, using the Inventário Portage Operacionalizado. The study was Descriptive and Qualitative. A one year and five months child and her teacher took part in the study. The teacherresponded collaboratively to the researcher the Portage Guide to Pre-School Education as well as to an interview. The results were: i) the child scored beyond his age range: two to three years in Socialization, Language, Motor Development, and Self-Care; three to four years in Language and Self-Care; ii) the child showed precociousness, making the instrument effective for the indication; and iii) the participating teacher is a PHD, however, she was not trained in the subject of the research and she didn’t work with precocious students or gifted in her career.Item type:Item, As práticas da Terapia Ocupacional na Atenção Primária à Saúde à luz do Método Terapia Ocupacional Dinâmica: diálogos possíveis(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-01-22) ;Luiz, Patricia Moreira Dos Santos ;Fornereto, Alana de Paiva Nogueirahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/0361502737203825This work explores the interface between the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method (MTOD) and Primary Health Care (PHC). The study highlights that both MTOD and PHC share similar objectives, such as promoting autonomy, addressing the social and territorial context, providing comprehensive and expanded care, and emphasizing people’s social participation. Objective: To understand the common aspects between the theoretical and methodological references of MTOD and PHC, as well as to systematize the theoretical convergences resulting from this association. Methodology: A cross-sectional exploratory study was conducted using a qualitative approach. The research was carried out within the Primary Health Care network of a municipality in the interior of São Paulo, with the participation of occupational therapists working in PHC in this municipality. One professional from each health region was invited to participate. Regarding research procedures, semi-structured interviews and participant observation in their work environments were conducted. Results: The data were analyzed based on the fundamentals of MTOD identified in the participants’ statements, which included: the expansion and potential construction of daily life, the target subject with needs and/or desires, health, activities, social insertion, and therapist training. The findings revealed a convergence between the practices performed by occupational therapists in PHC and the principles of MTOD. Despite challenges in establishing these associations, subtle connections were identified, including: target subject and gateway; health and comprehensiveness; social insertion and community orientation; activities and comprehensiveness; and education and longitudinality. Conclusion: This research identified commonalities between the theoretical and methodological references of MTOD and PHC. It contributed to a deeper understanding of the role of occupational therapists in this context, offering insights for professionals in different areas. Furthermore, it provided professionals who use MTOD with the opportunity to recognize the interfaces of this approach with theoretical frameworks from other disciplines. The study underscores the need for further research to deepen knowledge and address gaps in the literature.
