listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Rotulagem nutricional frontal na América do Sul: uma análise comparativa das regulamentações(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-07) Barbosa, Rayssa Azuza Ichimura Gonçalves; Matos, Andreia Pereira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6155202940087696; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9502-116XNutritionally unbalanced products have contributed to the alarming increase in chronic non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular problems. In this context, front-of-pack nutrition labeling has emerged as an important regulatory strategy to inform consumers about the risks associated with excessive consumption of certain ingredients, promoting more conscious food choices. Countries such as Chile, Argentina and Brazil have adopted different approaches to implementing these labels, with emphasis on the use of clear and easy-to-read nutrition labels. The successful implementation of these regulations has the potential to generate a positive impact not only on consumer health, but also on innovation and transparency in the food industry. Therefore, front-of-pack nutrition labeling in South America is a reflection of the social and economic transformations in the region, with direct implications for public health and the business models of food companies. A comparative analysis of the different models adopted by South American countries offers a broad view of the challenges and opportunities present in this constantly evolving scenario.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise de concentração e rivalidade no mercado de aviação civil no Brasil: um cenário hipotético de duopólio(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-07) Pereira, Renan Pegas; Pitelli, Mariusa Momenti; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2810339285129049The present study aims to analyze market concentration and indications of rivalry in the Brazilian civil aviation passenger transport sector, considering a hypothetical merger scenario between Gol and Azul in the main domestic air routes. To achieve this, market share data, the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI), and the relative market share instability test were applied to the most demanded routes in Brazil between January 2021 and July 2024. Among them, the key routes analyzed include Rio de Janeiro – São Paulo (SBRJ – SBSP; Santos Dumont and Congonhas airports), São Paulo – Brasília (SBSP – SBBR; Congonhas and Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek airports), and Recife – Guarulhos (SBRF – SBGR; Recife/Guararapes International and Guarulhos airports). In the current scenario, high levels of concentration are observed. In the hypothetical merger scenario, concentration increases significantly, establishing a dominant position for the new company and practically reducing the market to a duopoly. The ADF tests indicate instability in market share participation in the hypothetical scenario, which may suggest rivalry. The results emphasize the need for a thorough and careful competitive assessment in the event of a merger or acquisition in the sector.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, “Big in Japan”: Análise das transformações, interações e encadeamentos estruturais do Japão e Estados Unidos entre 1965 e 2000(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-07) Leite, Lucas Martins; Oliveira, Maria Aparecida Silva; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3455553543736709; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7729-4068This paper proposes a comparative analysis of the economic structures of Japan and the U.S. between 1965 and 2000. Through the lens of input-output analysis, the internal policies of both countries, and their bilateral trade, the influence that industries and sectors—grouped by technology—exerted on each other across the Pacific is assessed within the context of rivalry between a dominant U.S. and a rising Japan. Using regional input-output matrices, the study explores the evolution of sectoral linkages at both domestic and interregional levels, as well as the sectors that drove each country's growth. The analysis verifies the interdependence between differentiated and scale-intensive sectors in both countries, evidenced by their high common interregional linkage indices. Structural differences shaped interregional spillovers and trade patterns in both countries. While Japan expanded its exports in differentiated and scale-intensive industries, the U.S. maintained a less prominent presence in these sectors, with a greater share of resource-intensive industries, despite measures taken to reduce these asymmetries.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Etnografia da luta infinita: assentamento e expulsão no Acampamento Capão das Antas (São Carlos, SP)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-07) Savarego, Júlia Aricó; Villela, Jorge Luiz Mattar; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8301325600502054; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1852273495891237; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6524-4415This dissertation aims to ethnograph the resistance strategies of the residents of Acampamento Capão das Antas, a rural occupation fighting for Agrarian Reform located in the municipality of São Carlos, in the east-central region of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, in response to a currently suspended land repossession process. This process, which began in November 2011 and is now moving toward the establishment of a settlement, was legally grounded in environmental legislation. According to the group of residents with whom this work is conducted, the research concerns the creation of a documentary to write the history of the camp’s struggle. The methodological projections resulting in this text weave together an ethical-philosophical commitment, but also an aesthetic one, guiding the research’s execution. Thus, it makes sense to think of methodology necessarily as ethics expressed in the aesthetics of the text, which presents itself as a documentary—a ‘storytelling of the struggle.’ The documentary is simultaneously method, object, and research goal. I aspire for the text to be entangled as part of the struggle and to have its own political agency, given the understanding and commitment to the idea of writing as a world-creating practice. But, as the title of this dissertation announces, what does it mean to finish writing an endless struggle? In a context where exhaustion and depression were the most recurring themes, I raised the following problem: How can the certainty of the unattainable be precisely what keeps people fighting? The making of ‘Anthropology in and with the Endless Struggle’ initially led me to perceive a tension—and often contradictions—that, throughout the fieldwork begun in 2018, proved to be my own. From this realization, I wove oppositions into the ethnographic writing in an attempt to echo the movement of the struggle itself, such as the interdependent relationship between eviction and settlement in the current design of public policies aimed at land redistribution. This dissertation deals with the entanglements of hope and failure that mark what is a collective project: making home through land as a connector of temporalities, people, plants, and non-humans. I argue that the land struggle of the people of Acampamento Capão das Antas is not only about obtaining legal use but also about the constant work of forging bonds with the land, memory, and one another. And these bonds can only be sustained through care—for and with the land and the people, living and dead. It is because there are ‘affective bonds’ that people choose to stay or leave, and the affect involved is not just love and hope but also its relationship with pain and failure. This movement is echoed in this ethnography as a trigger for building comparative and imaginative bridges, enhancing life and projecting other possible futures.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise não linear geométrica e física global/local de pilares de edifícios em concreto armado(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-07) Corelhano, Angelo Giovanni Bonfim; Christoforo, André Luis; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7623383075429186; Almeida Filho, Fernando Menezes de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0447825383222965; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8981771495311118In this thesis, aspects inherent to the nonlinear physical and geometric analysis of columns of bracing structures for buildings in reinforced concrete will be addressed. The paper focused on the structural analysis of the columns through the use of a computational tool capable of performing rigorous non-linear analysis, studying conventional models using the finite element method. The inertia reductions in the columns are evaluated, as well as the effects of nonlinearities in global and local analysis in an integrated way in a single model. The models were previous designed to present reinforcement rates lower than the maximum allowed by ABNT NBR 6118:2014. Models with three different relationships between columns sides and three concrete strength classes were analyzed. The results showed that the stiffness of beams and columns for global modeling is close to those proposed by ABNT NBR 6118:2014 for concrete C25 and indicates that they are lower for higher concrete classes, in addition to indicating that the relative stiffness beam/column is lower than 0.5 as given by the aforementioned standard. Local second-order effects were very small, even for the most displaceable models.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Saberes de diretores escolares: conhecimentos, experiências práticas e relacionais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-02-07) Beltrami, Valcenir Aparecido; Luiz, Maria Cecília; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7425361719028650; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5140-2753; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0380571875541361; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2289-6541The present research aims to analyze the balance of knowledge of principals who have passed public examinations, of the staff of a Municipal Department of Education (SME) of a medium-sized municipality in São Paulo, to verify how they knowledge should be constituted for the performance of their functions. The problem of the investigation was related to the issue of the filling of positions of Brazilian principals and to the understanding that there are figures of learning in theoretical, practical, and relational knowledge, according to Charlot's Relationship with knowledge (2000). This qualitative research, with an exploratory approach, conducted an empirical part with a methodology divided into two stages: the first, called Balance of Knowledge (Charlot, 2000) and, the second, Focal Group. Ten directors were invited to participate, each director represented one of the ten administrative regions of the SME. The data were analyzed and divided into three constellations/dimensions, according to the theory of Relationship with Knowledge: 1) Knowledge of the profession: validation and understanding of the functions of the principal; 2) Technical-rational knowledge: needs of the organization and of the school daily life; 3) Knowledge of coexistence: conflict situations, dialogue and active listening. It is concluded that the school principals who participated in the research constituted and constitute theoretical, practical, and relational knowledge when they validate their functions, mainly related to technical-rational doing. When they face difficulties in relational dealings, conflicts, or school violence, they use theoretical foundations that they would acquire in their training, but always valuing practical and relational activities, which are the drivers of their decisions.
