    This study analyzes how digital social networks, focusing on YouTube, influence the migration experience of Brazilians in London, serving as a pedagogical space for migrants and potential aspirants. Using a netnographic approach and qualitative content analysis, channels such as Nathalia Lambranzi, Livrestrada, Guri in London, Vida na Inglaterra, Na Vibe, Realidade Inglesa-Londres, Alvaro Azevedo, Enjoy Londres, Everton Eduardo-Vida de Imigrante UK, Situação do Imigrante, Nova Utopia, Destino Inglaterra, DK Vlogs, and Uai Londres were studied, as well as interactions that shape narratives (video comments), offering emotional support, practical information, experience sharing, cultural insights, and the creation of support networks. The research reveals how these platforms facilitate migrants' transition and adaptation, promoting the construction of hybrid identities, professional opportunities, social connections, and spaces of belonging. Furthermore, it discusses the contradictions within migration narratives, which fluctuate between romanticization and lived reality, influencing expectations, daily challenges, and future perspectives.

    The presence of potentially toxic elements in cosmetics, especially in eye shadows, is an increasing concern due to the health risks associated with these elements. Metals such as cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), and lead (Pb), which are often used in metallic pigments, can exceed safety limits, causing irritation, dermatitis, and, in cases of prolonged exposure, systemic toxicity. Strict regulation of raw materials and manufacturing processes is crucial to ensure consumer safety. Studies on the composition of cosmetics are essential to improve regulations and mitigate health risks. In this context, this study aimed to quantify Cd, Cr, Ni, and Pb in samples of eye shadows from different brands and shades, as well as to discuss the potential health effects on users. The samples were subjected to microwave-assisted digestion and then quantified by Microwave Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (MP-AES). The results indicated that while Cd, Ni, and Pb were below the detection limits, Cr was found in concentrations above the limit set by ANVISA (1 ppm) in all samples, particularly in more intense shades like brown and wine. The findings may be associated with quality control failures in manufacturing and high light concerns about contamination, considering the health risks. Therefore, it is recommended to implement more effective quality control measures and strengthen regulation.

    This study aims to analyze my experience as an Occupational Therapy student in a mental health promotion group within the community, coordinated by an Occupational Therapist. Based on the principles of Popular Education and Psychosocial Care, the project “Território do Cuidar”, immersed in the social dynamics of oppressions, suffering, and possibilities, seeks to enable the production of life, meaning, and sociability through collective construction and the valorization of popular knowledge. The objective was to understand how the experience as an extensionist contributed to my education, using the experience report to describe and reflect on the practices experienced. It was observed that the approach to the community and territory revealed the potential of the collective, in which, through welcoming, belonging, sharing, lovingness and affection, it is possible to generate transformation and promote mutual and shared care that overflows into the daily lives of the participants. It is concluded that the experience in “Território do Cuidar” allowed me to be affected by the practices experienced, generating transformations, guiding my education and professional practice, and expanding my understanding through the diverse practices of Occupational Therapy. This experience reaffirms the importance of the university’s approach and joint construction with the territory, in order to promote a practice that is increasingly contextualized and transformative.

    This study analyzes national productions on Popular Education in Health (EPS) in the context of childhood, highlighting the potentials and challenges of this practice in Brazil. Based on the principles of Paulo Freire, EPS aims to promote a humanized, dialogical, and participatory approach to healthcare. The objective was to identify and analyze scientific articles on the application of EPS with children, seeking care practices and the development of inclusive public policies. The methodology adopted was a narrative literature review, selecting open-access articles published in the last 20 years, through searches in Scielo, BVS, and the CAPES Periodicals Portal. The research identified a lack of studies focused on children, particularly at the intersection with EPS. The results indicate that EPS practices for childhood are still underexplored, with more emphasis on adult and social vulnerability contexts. Furthermore, the studies highlight the need for robust institutional and political support for the implementation of these practices. The final considerations emphasize the importance of strengthening EPS public policies, aiming for the integration of various sectors and the creation of care spaces that respect children's uniqueness and rights, with a focus on expanding research on the topic.

    The possible environmental contamination by heavy metals (HMs), such as cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and chromium (Cr), has become recurrent due to the increase in anthropogenic activities when these do not meet the correct technical recommendations. Thus, in order to minimize the damage caused by irregular activities, phytoremediation emerges as an efficient and cost-effective technique in which plants are used for environmental decontamination. In this context, the aquatic macrophytes Pontederia crassipes (Mart.) Solms (arrowhead water hyacinth), Pistia stratiotes L. (water lettuce), and Salvinia auriculata Aubl. (giant salvinia) stand out, as they have remediation potential for inorganic organic pollutants present in water bodies. The dairy industry is present throughout the national territory, and when this industrial sector does not properly manage its waste before discharging it into water bodies, severe cases of contamination occur. Therefore, we tested the hypothesis that aquatic macrophytes have phytoremediation potential as a biotechnological tool in the tertiary treatment of dairy effluents contaminated with pollutants. Our objective was to evaluate the phytoremediation efficiency of macrophytes in water bodies contaminated by heavy metals. We adopted a completely randomized experimental design, consisting of the species P. crassipes, P. stratiotes, and S. auriculata cultivated in dairy effluents containing heavy metals (Cd and Pb). To achieve this, we conducted analyses of physicochemical parameters, total dry matter mass (DMM) to indicate good plant adaptation, and analyzed the concentrations of toxic elements in plant tissues to understand HM accumulation. The collected data were subjected to Tukey and Friedman tests, and after data processing, we created time series graphs for the analyzed variables. The literature reports the existence of a family of protein transporters called 'ZIP', which is involved in the transport of Fe, Zn, Mn, and Cd. Other proteins and transporters stand out and show affinities with divalent ions. We speculate that the transport of potentially toxic elements (PTE) occurs through high- to low-affinity systems (HATS and LATS, respectively). The PTE concentrations were not detrimental to the vegetative growth of the macrophytes, and we highlight their ability to "polish" the physicochemical parameters of the effluent, demonstrating the efficiency of these plants in adjusting the effluent quality before its discharge into water bodies. Therefore, we accept our initial hypothesis that aquatic macrophytes have phytoremediation potential as a biotechnological tool in water bodies contaminated with pollutants.

    Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) holds significant economic importance in Brazil; however, a wide range of diseases, pests, and physiological disorders can affect its production. Therefore, this study aims to develop a software application for the diagnosis of diseases, pests, and physiological disorders in tomato crops, based on symptoms and signs that are easily identifiable by producers. A database was created in MySQL, containing signs, symptoms, and management recommendations. The interface and diagnostic logic were developed in Java, allowing the producer to select the observed symptoms. The application operates interactively, enabling the producer to gradually select the symptoms observed in their plants. Based on this information, the system analyzes and provides an accurate diagnosis, along with recommendations for appropriate management. The efficiency and functionality of the application were evaluated through usability and integrity tests. Since Test 1, the software showed satisfactory usability performance, with 100% approval regarding its intuitive interface and response speed. The main challenge was related to agronomic information. In Test 2, diagnostic accuracy increased from 5% to 95%, and agreement with management suggestions rose from 5% to 80%, with a significant decrease in errors. The application received 100% recommendation. Despite not achieving 100% accuracy, the errors were occasional, with some problems being difficult to diagnose due to symptoms similar to other issues. The evolution of the application increased its accuracy, speed, and usability, making it more reliable and recommended. Thus, it can be concluded that the application has great potential to assist in the identification and management of phytosanitary problems, with possibilities for expansion to other crops and integration with machine learning to further enhance diagnostic accuracy.

    This work presents the heterodyne detection technique for light electric fields, a photodetection method capable of measuring both the amplitude and phase of an electromagnetic field. Applied to the context of light-matter interaction, the study of this photodetection technique allows the complete characterization of the electric field of light coherently transmitted by a cloud of cold atoms. Thus, after presenting the Beer-Lambert Law, which governs the behavior of light intensity coherently transmitted by atomic samples, and the principles behind the heterodyne detection technique, the construction of the experimental setup is detailed, explaining the particularities of the optical and electronic circuits, as well the digital demodulation carried out in Python language in order to treat the experimental data. Finally, as the main results of this work, a system calibration stage is carried out, capable of detecting light powers in the order of picoWatts. Furthermore, with digital demodulation, phase acquisition occurs with satisfactory precision. Finally, with the aim of investigating transmission through atomic samples, the system was used to capture the amplitude of the signal transmitted by a liquid sample.

    The paper entitled The Importance of Play in Literacy Development in Early Childhood Education investigates how playful practices are presented for the development of initial reading and writing skills in Early Childhood Education children. A bibliographic and qualitative research study analyzes the relationship between playing and learning. For this purpose, a bibliographic survey was carried out, from October to November 2024, in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD). From this survey, postgraduate works related to the proposed theme were selected and, still using official documents such as the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), the National Curricular Guidelines for Early Childhood Education (DCNEI) and the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA). The results indicate that playing is a central pedagogical tool, promoting not only cognitive and motor development, but also social, emotional and linguistic development. Singing games, storytelling, pretend play and activities involving sounds and rhymes are strategies that stimulate phonological awareness, creativity and interest in the world of literacy. In addition, the role of play in the development of children's autonomy, critical thinking and ability to express themselves is highlighted. However, the study also highlights challenges, such as the lack of teacher training to plan intentional playful activities and the pressure for early academic results, which can hinder the effective use of play in literacy. The research reinforces the need for public policies that value playfulness as a pedagogical strategy and guarantee the ongoing training of educators. It is concluded that playfulness is essential for meaningful and inclusive literacy, respecting the rhythm and particularities of each child. Playfulness should be understood as a right and a necessary practice in the daily routine of Early Childhood Education, promoting comprehensive development and preparing children for the challenges of Elementary School and life in society.

    The growing demand for convenience foods and the need for sustainable solutions for the use of fruits and vegetables have boosted the sauce market by enabling the use of perishable raw materials and adding value to the product. This study aimed to develop and characterize sauces based on guava and beetroot, exploring the potential of these ingredients, known for their high nutritional value and for contributing to sustainability by minimizing the waste of fresh food. The study consisted of developing sauces with different formulations, using varied combinations of tomato, guava and beetroot pulp. Physicochemical analyses were performed, including pH, soluble solids content, titratable acidity, water activity, color and viscosity. The guava sauce stood out for its high acidity, while the beetroot sauce presented intense color and high viscosity. In addition to the technical aspects, the study highlighted the positive impact on reducing waste and valuing local ingredients, promoting a sustainable approach to the development of new products. The use of agricultural surpluses and the transformation of perishable fruits and vegetables into sauces with a longer shelf life contribute to mitigating losses throughout the production chain, aligning with food safety and market innovation guidelines. It is concluded that the sauces developed not only meet the practicality and health expectations of modern consumers, but also represent a significant opportunity for the expansion of the sustainable food market in Brazil.

    The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the production and use of disposable face masks made of non-woven fabric. Although essential for health control, their improper disposal has caused significant environmental impacts, such as the increase in microplastics in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. This study reviews all the environmental impacts caused by the improper disposal of masks and, consequently, the challenges for recycling. This study provides a review of the complete composition of the mask, indicating that it is a material composed of different polymers, namely polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene and polyurethane, and the presence of a metal found in the moldable region of the nose. Therefore, with the complex and variable composition of the mask, attempts to recycle it result in an immiscible and incompatible blend, which makes the process even more difficult. Therefore, the solution to this problem may be the redesign and production with a single component, polypropylene. This study concludes that, to mitigate environmental impacts, it is essential to integrate more efficient recycling strategies and processes, thus reducing pollution caused by the improper disposal of disposable masks.

    Diferentes formas de obtenção do geraniol

    Essential oils are a mixture of volatile and lipophilic molecules found in plants. These substances are widely used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries due to their specific properties. Thanks to their characteristic aromas, they play a historical and essential role in the fragrance and perfume market. This relevance is confirmed by the constant growth in revenue within Brazil's personal hygiene and cleaning sector. One example is geraniol, an acyclic monoterpenoid alcohol found in rose leaves, which has a light floral rose note. Among the various existing extraction methods, only steam distillation allows for satisfactory yields of geraniol. However, due to the increasing demand for essential oils, extraction exclusively from natural sources has become insufficient to meet global market needs. This, in turn, has contributed to the development of more efficient synthetic methodologies for obtaining these molecules. Thus, geraniol can be synthesized in four reaction steps from β-pinene or obtained from citral through the reduction of the aldehyde group. Additionally, geraniol can be produced through biosynthetic pathways based on the mevalonate pathway, replicating the natural process that occurs in plants.

    Polarização política e voto facultativo: determinantes da participação eleitoral no Brasil (2014-2022)

    Voter turnout is a central topic in Political Science and crucial for understanding the functioning of representative democracies. This dissertation investigates the relationship between political polarization and electoral participation in Brazil, analyzing elections from 2002 to 2022. The study hypothesizes that polarized contexts amplify the effects of ideology and partisanship on voting decisions, particularly in a hypothetical voluntary voting scenario. To test this relationship, we use data from the Brazilian Electoral Study (ESEB) and official statistics from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), examining turnout trends and voter motivations. The research mobilizes different theoretical approaches to electoral behavior, such as Rational Choice Theory, the Michigan School, and the Sociological Model, while also engaging in the debate on affective polarization. The results indicate that political polarization selectively influences electoral participation, reinforcing the mobilization of ideologically engaged voters while discouraging moderates. In a voluntary voting context, this dynamic is expected to intensify, increasing participation inequalities. This study contributes to the debate on the impact of polarization in contemporary democracies and the challenges of political participation in polarized contexts.

    Otimização de protocolos de expressão e purificação de metiltransferases de ZIKV e YFV

    This study aimed to optimize protocols for the expression and purification of methyltransferases from Zika (ZIKV) and Yellow Fever (YFV) viruses, which belong to the Flavivirus genus, which includes important pathogens associated with epidemic outbreaks and serious complications, such as microcephaly, Guillain-Barré syndrome and hemorrhagic hepatitis. These viruses have RNA genomes with a 5' cap modified by methyltransferases (MTase), ensuring greater stability and evasion of the host's immune system. To explore these proteins as potential therapeutic targets, expression tests were performed in Escherichia coli Rosetta DE3, identifying the ideal conditions as plasmid M11, ZYM 5052 medium and a temperature of 18°C for methyltransferase from the virus that causes Yellow Fever and for methyltransferase from the virus that causes Zika Fever. YFV methyltransferase purification was performed by affinity and molecular exclusion chromatography, resulting in proteins of high purity and stability in HEPES (NaOH) buffer (pH 7.5, 500 mM NaCl and 5% glycerol), which is ideal for functional preservation of the protein. However, Zika virus methyltransferase showed lower efficiency in the purification process, which negatively impacted its stability and final yield.This study provides a solid basis for expression and purification of methyltransferases for futurebiochemical and structural investigations, in addition to contributing to the advancement in thedevelopment of antiviral strategies against these flaviviruses. The next work steps include the optimization of the ZIKV methyltransferase purification protocol, biophysical, biochemical and structural characterization of the methyltransferases, using techniques such as size exclusion chromatography (SEC) with multiangle light scattering (MALS) (SEC-MALS), differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF), circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography, in addition to functional analysis of enzymatic activity.

    This study explores diasporic tourism as a practice of quilombo formation, analyzing its impact on the reaffirmation of the identity of Black people. Using a qualitative approach, with interviews conducted with Black Brazilians, we investigated how these experiences promote cultural and emotional ties with ancestry, strengthen self-acceptance, and contribute to resistance against structural racism. Diasporic tourism, as a practice of connecting with the roots and communities of the diaspora, reveals itself as a transformative strategy for mental health and the appreciation of Afro-descendant culture. The research seeks to broaden the understanding of the role of tourism in the emancipation and belonging of Black communities.
