Abstract

Dyes are materials that are part of everyday life in modern society. They are present in food, clothing, fabrics in general and the medical area. However, its use has generated environmental and health impacts human. This work aims to carry out a bibliographical review of respect for the classification, chemical properties and reaction mechanisms of synthetic dyes with different substrates. It will also address how these substances interact with visible radiation through chromophore groups and the influence of the conjugation of double bonds. With this knowledge in hand, it will be possible to understand how some of the current methods used to discolor these materials, such as enzymatic, through laccases, via Fenton and adsorption (through MOFs), given the risks caused by their disposal undue.
