    “O brasileiro não lê”: mídia e discursos sobre a leitura

    This Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC) was developed under the supervision of professor Luzmara Curcino, and it is registered with the Reading Studies Laboratory (LIRE-CNPq/UFSCar), in line with the common objective of the group's research, this is, to analyze discourses about reading in circulation in our society. More specifically, this TCC is linked to the general research projects “Proud readers, ashamed readers: emotions in discourses about reading”, coordinated by professor Luzmara Curcino, with support from FAPESP (2020/03615-0 Regular Research Project), and “Pride, shame and other affects: an analysis of emotions in discourses about reading” (CNPq - 305682/2022-9 - Productivity grant - PQ2). With this research, our objective is to analyze a specific set of statements about reading, those in which there is a depreciatory reference to the brazilian people as readers, which to some extent refers to shameful forms of allusion to this practice, whether in the form of the shame that one shares for being part of this people who do not read, or in the form of the shame of others for this people who do not read. It is the contribution to this discussion that LIRE's research has been carried out about the essentialization widely reproduced among us about our representation as non-readers, as an uneducated people, poorly literate, who have little interest in reading, that we seek to accomplish by analyzing a sample of statements. The data analyzed here came from the collection that we organized with the digital archive of the newspaper "O Globo", over the period from 2000 to 2010, based on the keywords: reading, book, reader, Brazil and brazilian people. Our data collection and analysis were based on principles and concepts of discourse analysis, such as “discursive formation”, “discursive memory” and “statement”, seeking to infer from what was said, how this saying was materialized in these statements and the consensual representations that we share about brazilians in their relationship with reading. To this end, we relied on studies in this discursive perspective that take reading as a theme, such as those carried out by the brazilian researchers Abreu (2001), Curcino (2016, 2020) among others, and in light of the Cultural History of reading according to Roger Chartier. Through our analysis, we were able to verify that the statements present in the research corpus reiterate, through various consensual and hierarchical representations of reading, the brazilian people as non-readers.

    This study aims to identify which aspects of the Financial Literacy model were contemplated in the digital materials used and in the Financial Education classes taught in high school in the São Paulo state public school system. The research is qualitative in nature, and the study analyzed 13 classes conducted with 2nd and 3rd year high school students in a public school in Sorocaba-SP. The classes adopted the "from less to more" approach, divided into three phases: "least," addressing debt and default; "zero," focusing on balance and financial planning; and "most," exploring investments. The data were analyzed using the Financial Literacy model, which provides a basis for interpreting the classes, the digital materials, and the students' work. The results indicate that all aspects of Financial Literacy were covered throughout the classes, but highlighted the need for adjustments to the digital materials, greater integration and better use of digital technologies, and improvement of the pedagogical approach of the "from least to most" route. It is concluded that the classes contributed to the mobilization of the elements of Financial Literacy, but also that there is a need for improvements to enhance this mobilization.

    In the context of mental health care practices, supported by the psychosocial model, Brazilian occupational therapists play a crucial role in promoting collaborative and interdisciplinary practices. Given the continuous evolution of the profession, it is important to investigate the various facets of practice and how they shape the professional core in the field of mental health. The field is understood as a dynamic and collaborative space, and the core as the integration of specific knowledge that defines the profession. Thus, it becomes feasible to advance the discussion on its contours. General Objective: To understand the specific practice of occupational therapy in mental health from the perspective of occupational therapists working in facilities that make up the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS). Method: This is a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and exploratory-descriptive study, using a convenience sample of 53 occupational therapists working in the Brazilian RAPS. The professionals answered a semi-structured questionnaire with closed and open-ended questions, enabling a sociodemographic overview of the participants and insight into how these professionals interpret and develop their practices in their daily work. Analysis and Results: The qualitative data, obtained from the open-ended questions, were examined using the IRaMuTeQ software, allowing classification into five categories: 1. Articulation of Occupational Therapy with the Field; 2. Foundations of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health; 3. Demands and Objectives of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health; 4. Technical Core of Occupational Therapy; 5. Delineation of the Professional Core. The results show that the discussions within the Brazilian mental health field by occupational therapists have been based on conceptions from the theoretical and methodological frameworks referred to as common clinical practice and collective health. Regarding specific theoretical and methodological aspects, a variety of perspectives on the contours and boundaries of the professional core of occupational therapy in the field of mental health is identified. Conclusion: The construction and strengthening of the professional core of occupational therapy in the field of mental health necessarily involve constant negotiation. There is an emerging need to foster critical thinking that guides the profession beyond rigid dichotomies. Instead of opting for unrestricted adherence or inflexible separation, a dynamic balance is proposed, where the specificity of occupational therapy is upheld by occupational therapists, while its practice expands through dialogue with other areas of knowledge.

    Cataract is one of the leading causes of vision loss worldwide, and early detection plays a key role in timely medical intervention. In this context, neural networks have stood out as powerful tools for analyzing complex images and extracting relevant information for accurate diagnoses. The objective of this work is to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of compact neural networks in the automatic detection of cataracts in eye images using deep learning, in a scenario with a limited database, both in terms of the number of images and their resolutions. It is initially carried out a literature review of existing techniques and approaches used in the area. The themes and concepts used to carry out the study are also reviewed. The process includes building appropriate neural network architectures, preprocessing medical fundus images to improve data quality, balancing the database, implementing deep learning algorithms for model training, and then evaluating performance using metrics such as accuracy, sensitivity, and loss. The results obtained demonstrate that models based on ResNet architectures, both in their traditional versions and hybrid versions with Vision Transformers (ViT), presented high performance (above 93%) in cataract detection. On the other hand, compact models such as the Compact Convolutional Transformer (CCT) and the Compact Vision Transformer (CVT) faced difficulties in generalizing to multiple classes, suggesting that compact transformers.

    This study evaluates the quality of electrical energy in low-voltage installations through the analysis of smart meters, with an emphasis on voltage imbalances and low power factor. The research considers ANEEL regulations, the technological evolution of meters, and their effectiveness in detecting anomalies. Data collection was performed using the JE05 WATT METER (BIN Technology) smart meter in a two-phase configuration, monitoring parameters such as RMS voltage, frequency, active and reactive power, and power factor over seven days, with subsequent analysis conducted in MATLAB software. The results demonstrate the superiority of smart meters in identifying critical failures, such as voltages outside regulatory standards and low power factor.

    This thesis investigates how the position of women in the contemporary context is addressed by Celeste Ng in her novel Little Fires Everywhere (2017) and how this narrative is revisited in its homonymous adaptation in miniseries format (2020). Celeste Ng employs a plot centered on family conflicts to explore themes such as gender and social roles. The aim is to give women a voice, emphasizing the contrasts between her female characters. Based on this book, the production company Hello Sunshine created a miniseries (with Celeste Ng’s collaboration in writing the script), incorporating additional issues such as racism and sexuality. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how female characters are reimagined in this television adaptation. To achieve this, the study draws on cultural studies, focusing on key aspects of the contemporary world: the representation of minorities in connection with the oppression of women, patriarchal society from a postmodern perspective, and the dissonances of language as a means of highlighting the various ways in which women are compelled to remain silent. Ultimately, the thesis is grounded in the aesthetic construction of works from a female perspective, fostering the formation of identity and the construction of otherness for the reader/viewer.

    When investigating the participation of black women in Brazilian politics, even after the creation of the Quota Law, n. 9.504/97, it appears that they are still underrepresented, which presents itself as a problem. Several elements seem to contribute to this situation. However, the form of organization of political parties, with an oligarchic and bureaucratized structure, is directly connected to this underrepresentation, since party associations are the main routes of access to the legislative and the executive branches of the Brazilian government. Thus, it is a challenge to modify this scenario in intra-party politics, which justifies the research developed. In this context, the main objective of the investigation is to ascertain how political parties in Brazil have promoted or constrained the access of black women to institutional politics. This is a qualitative and quantitative research, which analyzes data on the presence of black women in senior management positions of Brazilian political parties in 2016, 2020 and 2024, with data from the STI/TSE. Through documentary research, the statutes of the twenty-nine political parties registered with the Superior Electoral Court in 2024 are also examined, plus two more incorporated parties, between August and November of that year, as well as their internal regulations and websites, to ascertain the existence of sectors and secretariats that deal with gender and ethnic-racial issues in these parties. This is relevant to understand the level of commitment of political parties on promoting the inclusion of black women. The bibliographic research was based on references that discuss the presence of black women in politics, political parties, structural racism, intersectionality and political violence of gender and race. Through this analysis, a situational diagnosis was made, resulting in the confirmation of the hypothesis that the oligarchic character of political parties contributes to gender and race inequality within party associations and is reflected in politics. In view of this context and the insufficiency of quotas to account for the increase in political participation of black women, we propose that, within the political parties, the intersectional analytical tool is used to elaborate public policies that seek to mitigate the problem of this underrepresentation.

    In this work, we seek to obtain information about certain types of Weingarten surfaces, approaching this problem through nonlinear partial differential equations. We study particular cases of translation surfaces in the product spaces H2xR and H3 and Helical surfaces in S2xR that verify the property of being a Weingarten Surface. In addition, we also investigate translation surfaces in the Euclidean space E3 that are particular cases of Weingarten Flow Solitons.

    People in situations of social disadvantage have historically been marginalized by society. This reality means that many of them have in common the deprivation of basic rights, such as the right to work. Despite the efforts of international regulatory bodies regarding people's access to decent work, the scenario of inequality established at the national level driven by the rise of the neoliberal agenda means that people are inserted into work processes based on exploitation and the deprivation of rights. In the field of mental health, in particular, there is a history of rights violations; people with mental health problems were viewed from the stigma of incapacity and, as a result, were excluded from the world of work. Although remnants of this reality are still present in the social imagination, some Brazilian experiences have materialized as successful practices for social inclusion through the work of these people, most of which have occurred from the perspective of the solidarity economy. In the context of the northern region of Brazil, there are few studies that address the experience of practices of social inclusion through the work of mental health users. The research found indicates that the scenario in which such activities, identified as income generation, occur is within the scope of Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS). Considering the history of strengthening solidarity economy actions, it is believed that there is a possibility of establishing initial partnerships. In view of this, this study aimed to map the current reality of Solidarity Economic Enterprises (EES) and the experiences of income generation in the field of mental health, alcohol and other drugs, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB). Seven EES linked to the Rede de Cooperatives Mãos Solidárias (RECOMSOL) and a productive workshop linked to a CAPS AD participated in the study. The cartography method was used, based on the clues of the cartographic method that discusses the four steps of attention of the cartographer-researcher. In this study, they sought to present the paths taken from the initial contact, notes in the field diary, interviews to fill out the forms and implications mobilized in the body of the cartographer-researcher. The first and second parts highlight aspects related to the territory and its implications for the enterprises linked to RECOMSOL and the production workshop. The third part presents data on the profile of the participants, their links with the solidarity economy and mental health, and their forms of marketing and organization. Finally, part four highlights aspects related to possible connections between the solidarity economy network and the production workshop, based on reflections found in the field. Based on the results presented, reflections are presented on social inclusion through work in the context of the Amazon region of Pará, with a view to possible connections through the solidarity economy. It is argued that, as in other regions of the country, the solidarity economy is a powerful instrument for emancipatory actions in the field of mental health. It is expected that more studies will be developed to help us think about processes of social inclusion through work, in the field of mental health, aligned with the reality of the metropolitan region of Belém and Pará. Considering the specificities of being-doing-thinking social inclusion through work of people who use alcohol or other drugs, or not, based on a commitment based on ethical-political action, seeking to guarantee rights, decent work and dignity in life.

    Avaliação de um procedimento de ensino multissensorial de leitura aplicado por profissionais com crianças com autismo

    Given the challenges related to teaching reading to children with autism using conventional methods, the use of differentiated tools is essential. This study aimed to analyze the benefit of the multisensory teaching procedure applied by professionals who accompany autistic children in school and clinical settings was sufficient to ensure learning to read monosyllabic words composed of three letters (consonant + vowel + vowel). Six students aged between five and six years with autism participated in this study, as well as six professionals who already carry out monitoring in the clinical context or in the functional resource room. The teaching procedure was organized in three phases: vowel discrimination, vowel combination, consonant discrimination, with the reading of monosyllabic words as the generalization. In addition, the generalization of learning through disyllabic words was evaluated. 85 synchronous meetings were established once a week with professionals, as well as asynchronous monitoring of the activities and videos sent by the professionals. Two assessments were applied to identify the children's reading input repertoire, followed by baseline and teaching of target behaviors that were defined based on the analysis of the results. A single-subject design was used with six participants. P1 had a single-subject analysis, being his own control. P2 and P3 were evaluated in a multiple baseline between participants. P4, P5, P6 interrupted the procedure in phase 2, due to the end of the school year. In general, in the pre-test the number of correct answers varied between 3.5% and 4%, compared to the post-test of 7% and 24% correct answers. The number of sessions was on average 32. The professionals' applications were analyzed through synchronous and asynchronous interactions with guidance on evidence-based strategies. The social validity responses indicated that the procedure was considered viable for the literacy process, recognizing the intervention as a systematized and solid teaching strategy, based on the principles of Behavior Analysis.

    Collagen, the main structural protein of the extracellular matrix in vertebrates, accounts for over 25% of total human body proteins. Its molecular organization into triple-helical polypeptide chains provides mechanical strength, biochemical stability, and the ability to stimulate cell proliferation. Due to these properties, collagen has strategic applications in biomedical, tissue engineering, food, and pharmaceutical industries. Traditionally sourced from bovine and porcine tissues, its extraction faces sanitary challenges and religious restrictions, driving the search for sustainable alternatives. In this context, aquatic-derived collagen emerges as a promising option, not only due to its abundance and low zoonotic risk but also because it utilizes aquaculture byproducts—which contain 50–70% collagen—adding economic value and reducing import dependency. Acid solubilization is widely employed for extraction as it preserves the protein’s native structure. However, pure collagen exhibits limitations in mechanical properties, requiring modifications such as crosslinking to expand its biomedical use. This study investigated riboflavin (vitamin B₂)-mediated photocrosslinking, a method that uses blue LED light to form hydrogels with poorly explored physicochemical properties. Collagen was extracted from tilapia skin (Oreochromis niloticus) and characterized by sodium dodecyl sulfate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and ¹³C nuclear magnetic resonance (¹³C NMR). Hydrogels were then synthesized with riboflavin (0.1% and 1.0%) and irradiated for 5, 10, 20 and 30 minutes. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed higher thermal stability in hydrogels with prolonged crosslinking times, while swelling assays indicated lower water absorption and higher crosslinking density at increased riboflavin concentrations and longer light exposure. The denaturation temperature of crosslinked collagen (45°C) exceeded that of native collagen (37°C), and cytotoxicity tests confirmed its biocompatibility. These results demonstrate that photocrosslinked tilapia-derived collagen exhibits suitable properties for tissue engineering applications, positioning it as a viable and sustainable alternative to conventional collagens.

    Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by motor performance below expectations, affecting approximately 5% to 8% of school-age children. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), as well as current care guidelines for DCD, propose a comprehensive description of the functional profile of individuals. This thesis was developed considering gaps in the understanding of biopsychosocial components relevant to the health of children with this condition and comprises three scientific studies, as described below. Study 1 – Objective: To conduct a scoping review of the literature exploring the main characteristics and determinants of participation in children with DCD. Methods: The MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies published between 2001 and 2021 that evaluated participation and/or related constructs in children with DCD aged 5 to 17 years. Studies were selected by two independent researchers. Data were extracted using standardized forms and synthesized by consensus. Study quality was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Results: A total of 2,444 studies were identified, and 14 met the inclusion criteria—all from high-income countries. The studies involved children with a mean age of 9.7 years and used appropriate diagnostic criteria and validated instruments to assess participation. Children with DCD demonstrated reduced participation levels compared to typically developing peers, especially in physical and social activities, with lower involvement in sports teams, leisure activities, and reduced parental satisfaction. Conclusion: While there is consistent evidence of reduced participation in children with DCD, knowledge gaps remain regarding participation within family and school environments. Research is needed to identify contextual determinants of participation to guide effective interventions. Study 2 – Objective: To compare the functional profile of children at risk of (r-DCD) or with probable DCD (p-DCD) and those with typical neurodevelopment (TND), based on the biopsychosocial model. Methods: This analytical cross-sectional study was conducted in a municipality in southern Brazil, following STROBE recommendations. Children were classified into TND, r-DCD, and p-DCD groups based on MABC-2 results. Assessment tools covered the four ICF domains: body functions (MABC-2, 6-Minute Walk Test), activities (DCDQ-Brazil, IPAQ-SF), participation (PEM-CY), and contextual factors (SDQ-Portuguese; PEM-CY environmental scales). Statistical analysis included the Kruskal–Wallis test and Dunn’s post-hoc test (α=0.05). Results: The sample included 208 children (mean age 8.25 ± 1.28 years; 94 girls), with TND (n=158), r-DCD (n=25), and p-DCD (n=25). As expected, the p-DCD group had significantly lower motor scores. In the participation domain, p-DCD children reported lower community involvement than r-DCD children (p=0.016). No significant differences were observed in other ICF components. Conclusion: The main impact of DCD was identified in the ICF participation domain. This study broadens understanding of the functioning of children with DCD and emphasizes the need for future research on determinants of functioning in this population. Study 3 – Primary Objective: To compare the motor performance of children from the five Brazilian regions. Secondary Objective: To explore associations between sociodemographic variables and motor performance. Methods: This multicenter cross-sectional study included 967 children (6–10 years old) from public schools in five Brazilian regions: South (n=208), Northeast (n=92), Southeast (n=232), Midwest (n=243), and North (n=192). Motor performance was assessed using MABC-2. Sociodemographic data were collected via caregiver questionnaire. Regional comparisons were made using the Kruskal Wallis test. Correlations between MABC-2 scores and family income, maternal and paternal education were analyzed using Spearman’s ρ (α=0.05). Results: Regional differences in motor performance were observed. Children from the Northeast and Midwest had lower scores in manual dexterity. The North region showed higher aiming and catching scores, while the Northeast had the lowest. In the balance domain, children from the Northeast outperformed others. No significant correlations were found between MABC-2 scores and family income or parental education. Conclusion: The significant variations in motor performance of children from different regions of Brazil suggest a possible effect of environmental variables. However, sociodemographic factors were not significant for performance. It is speculated that they possibly influence other determinants of this performance in a complex way. Thus, it is recommended that future research investigate other environmental factors that may have an impact on motor performance. Taken together, the results of this thesis provide information on little- discussed components of the functioning of children with DCD, highlighting the need to monitor involvement in relevant community activities. Furthermore, paths are pointed out for future studies to identify contextual targets to be considered when evaluating and proposing interventions aimed at children with this condition.

    Electromigration is a phenomenon where atoms move within a material due to the application of high electric current densities. This effect can lead to the formation of voids and atomic accumulations, resulting in failures in electronic devices. However, when controlled, electromigration can be used to modify materials at the atomic scale. In this work, we investigated the effects of electromigration on bismuth microbridges, a material of technological interest due to its properties as a topological insulator. As a first step, we performed electromigration on aluminum metal devices, demonstrating the feasibility of precisely controlling this process. The results obtained were consistent with the literature, reinforcing the reliability of the methodology we adopted. Next, we applied the protocol to bismuth, whose semiconductor characteristics imposed additional challenges in controlling electromigration. To overcome these difficulties, we tested various experimental conditions, varying electropulsing parameters, temperature, and atmosphere. Initially, we conducted electromigration at ambient conditions, adjusting the protocol to reach higher temperatures due to the influence of the Joule effect in the experiment. Subsequently, we carried out tests under low pressure and at 350 K, seeking greater control of the process. The results indicated a promising pathway to modify bismuth properties in a controlled manner, although precise control of electromigration is not yet fully established. These advances outline perspectives for future experiments, allowing for parameter optimization and a deeper understanding of the mechanisms governing electromigration in bismuth, aiming for applications in devices based on this material.

    The search for new technologies for a more sustainable future in the automotive sector has been widely discussed, driven by the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The transportation sector is one of the main contributors to these emissions, making essential to reformulate propulsion systems and transition to cleaner energy sources. To accelerate this change, several countries have implemented stricter environmental policies and regulations, encouraging the adoption of sustainable technologies. In this context, vehicle electrification and the use of biofuels emerge as viable alternatives to mitigate the environmental impacts of transportation. Brazil stands out for its potential in clean energy sources and biofuels, such as ethanol, which already plays a significant role in this transition. Given this, this study aimed to analyze the national energy transition scenario in the automotive sector, considering the feasibility of ethanol as a sustainable mobility solution. To achieve this, it employed life cycle analysis of fuels, as well as an assessment of the market and available infrastructure for biofuels and electrified vehicles. The challenges and opportunities of expanding ethanol use were also discussed, considering economic, environmental, and technological aspects. This study intended to contribute to the understanding of the role of biofuels in reducing pollution and achieving sustainability goals in Brazil's transportation sector.

    There is currently a growing demand for safety and comfort, which is reflected in our daily lives and in our surroundings. Whether it is to unlock a cell phone or enter a restricted access area, biometric readings are increasingly present in our daily lives, and the expectation is that technology will evolve to make these methods reliable, practical and non-invasive. This fits well when we enter the area of computer vision and come across facial recognition, an area that works on identifying people, whether in photos, videos or even in real time, and which has great potential in security, authentication and monitoring. However, this area also contains a series of challenges. Lighting, position, angle, accessories that can hide parts of the face and even aging can present difficulties for a facial recognition system. To overcome these obstacles, a series of promising studies have brought modern and sophisticated methods based on machine learning that have proven to be robust and efficient systems. Among these systems, there is a more classical model known as Local Binary Pattern Histograms, which uses the comparison of pixels with their edges to transform images into histograms and compare them to identify people. Another very promising method uses convolutional neural networks to analyze the most important features of a face across all its neurons and generate highly discriminative representations, as is the case with FaceNet. To evaluate these models, this study will test both in different situations and provide results showing how technology has advanced and how these recent convolutional neural network methods are proving increasingly effective in dealing with the various obstacles of facial recognition.

    The quality monitoring of 3D-printed components is essential to ensure product reliability and optimize manufacturing processes. Traditional inspection methods often rely on expensive equipment, making them unfeasible for many industries. This study explores the use of accessible and low-cost technologies for defect detection in 3D-printed parts. Images of the manufactured components were captured and analyzed using analytical algorithms, with the assistance of OpenCV for edge detection and image segmentation. The analysis identified defects such as bubbles, under-extrusion, and over-extrusion. Unsupervised learning, utilizing Kmeans clustering, enabled the classification and characterization of defects based on their visual patterns and spatial distribution. The results demonstrate the potential of integrating low-cost computer vision techniques with unsupervised learning to enhance inspection in additive manufacturing.

    This work addresses energy management in smart homes, highlighting the problem of electricity waste and the need for efficient solutions for monitoring and optimizing consumption. The main objective is to develop and simulate a system based on the ESP32 and the TagoIO platform, using the MQTT protocol for real-time data transmission from sensors and actuators. The study is justified by the growing demand for energy efficiency and the accessibility of IoT and cloud computing technologies, which enable more effective control of household appliances. The methodology involves the implementation of a simulation and a prototype, where sensors collect temperature, humidity, and motion data and send the information to a dashboard in TagoIO, facilitating data visualization and analysis. The tests carried out demonstrated that the system can provide relevant information about the environment and controlled devices, allowing for a better understanding of usage patterns and contributing to more efficient and sustainable energy consumption.

    Biodegradable scaffolds manufactured via additive manufacturing are promising for bone regeneration as they mimic the natural extracellular matrix of bone, both in terms of architecture and biochemical and mechanical properties. They act as temporary templates, guiding bone tissue growth, accelerating the recovery of patients with orthopedic trauma, and reducing the need for multiple surgeries. This study investigated the surface modification of poly(lactic acid) (PLA)-β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) composite scaffolds (90:10 wt/wt%) produced by additive manufacturing, using plasma treatment, alkaline hydrolysis, and deposition of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeONPs) to stimulate bone cell growth. PLA-β-TCP filaments were obtained by extrusion and used to fabricate the scaffolds via 3D printing. The surfaces were treated with plasma or sodium hydroxide, followed by deposition of CeONPs, either synthesized or commercially acquired. The nanoparticle synthesis was monitored by UV-Vis spectroscopy, with an absorbance peak at 270 nm, indicating particles with a radius of approximately 20.5 nm. The scaffolds were evaluated for mechanical properties (uniaxial compression), surface characteristics (contact angle, Atomic Force Microscopy – AFM, Scanning Electron Microscopy – SEM), and cell viability (Alamar Blue assay). The results showed that the scaffolds exhibited elastic moduli (78-127 MPa) within the range of native human bone. Contact angle measurements revealed increased hydrophilicity after alkaline treatment and reduced hydrophilicity after CeONP addition. AFM and SEM analyses showed differences in roughness and surface morphology (presence of pores), with the NaOH and synthesized CeONP group being the roughest. In pre-osteoblastic mouse cell (MC3T3-E1) assays, the sample treated with plasma and commercial CeONPs showed the highest cell proliferation. The results highlight the positive effect of surface treatments on scaffold functionalization and the increased bioactivity of the material with CeONP deposition.

    In this work, we classify all the ruled Weingarten surfaces of class C³ immersed in the Heisenberg group Nil_3, obtaining explicit parametrizations for each case. We also classify translation surfaces of the graph type in Nil_3 which are linear-Weingarten or whose norm of the second fundamental form is constant. We also classify ruled Weingarten surfaces in the product spaces, S²×R and H²×R. In the space SL_2(R)~, we did an initial study in which we classified vertical and horizontal ruled surfaces whose one of the curvatures, either mean or gaussian, is constant. We included yet a chapter considering Bishop surfaces (or Monge surfaces) in R³, in which we classified all such surfaces of class C² satisfying some polynomial Weingarten relation.
