listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Criação de filhos na diversidade: coparentalidade e perspectivas de casais homoafetivos no Brasil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Souza, Lucas Henrique Rimoldi de; Souza, Debora de Hollanda; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3640676759708745; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0485-7787; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3822002142569778; https://orcid.org/0009-0003-9162-3034Despite legal advancements, such as the recognition of the right to adoption by same-sex couples in Brazil in 2015, these families experience discrimination and their legitimacy is still subjected to controversy. Considering the limited number of studies on coparenting in this context in the country, the present study aimed to investigate parenting and coparenting experiences in same-sex parent families. A total of 43 parents from same-sex parent families participated in the survey, responding to an online questionnaire that included a sociodemographic section, the 35-item Coparenting Relationship Scale (CRS), and a five-question open-ended questionnaire on parental practices. Results indicate notably positive parental and coparental patterns. The answers to the open-ended questions suggest that participants prioritize love, affection, communication, patience, and an equal division of labor, a finding that corroborates international literature. A recurring challenge, mentioned by 17% of the participants, was prejudice and social stigmatization. The CRS scores confirmed these qualitative findings, with high scores in the positive attitude subscales (e.g., Support = 5.27; Approval = 5.31) and low scores in the negative attitude subscales (e.g., Sabotage = 0.59). The study contributes to the Brazilian literature in the field with evidence that sexual orientation does not negatively affect parenting quality. Our findings reinforce the need to demystify prejudices and support same-sex parent families, who demonstrate being capable of providing healthy environments for the development of their children.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Viver na moradia é...: a dialética entre o sofrimento ético-político e a luta por reconhecimento dos estudantes na moradia estudantil UFSCar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Ferreira, João Felipe Dias; Fioroni, Luciana Nogueira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8086810053892035; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2311-7848; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0225049672035320Mental health care is permeated by a political dimension, whose current paradigm is the psychosocial care model. Furthermore, the health-disease process must be understood in a way that is linked to the social context in which it is embedded, so that social determinants of health produce inequities of suffering in a society also determined by the neoliberal economic context of psychic management. In this context, youth develops amidst various risks of suffering, which manifests itself in specific ways in the university context. This scenario is aggravated by insecurities related to student assistance, making it necessary to investigate experiences in particular contexts of vulnerable populations, such as Student Housing. Given this, the present study aimed to investigate the dimensions and repercussions of psychic suffering among students at the UFSCar-São Carlos Student Housing. A participatory investigation was carried out, in which 25 students residing in the Residence Hall participated in a first stage of quality of life mapping, using the WHOQOL-bref instrument. In a second stage, 11 participants were distributed into 2 operational focus groups in order to identify the psychosocial determinants of suffering and impacts on life trajectories, as well as to provide support and address these issues. A generally low-to-medium quality of life was found in the Student Housing, varying according to different social and material markers. Furthermore, the Thematic Analysis of the qualitative data resulted in a complex picture of "challenges" and "confrontations" dialectically articulated in the students' life experience. This dialectic was interpreted as the coexistence of ethical-political suffering and the possibility of fighting for recognition to mitigate it. It is concluded that the articulated strengthening of institutional measures for permanence and collective strategies for resistance are necessary and possible to address mental illness in Student Housing.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, “O que você quer ser quando crescer?” Estereótipos de gênero e perspectivas profissionais de crianças(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Macêdo, Mayara da Vera Cruz; Souza, Debora de Hollanda; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3640676759708745; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0485-7787; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4853220681234736; https://orcid.org/0009-0004-8338-2688Several researchers have studied the effects of gender stereotypes on children's development and their influence on future career choices, such as encouraging boys to become engineers and girls to become teachers. The literature has shown how gender stereotypes tend to exaggerate perceptions of abilities and potential, particularly in educational and professional contexts, thereby contributing to unequal treatment and opportunities for men and women and perpetuating social inequalities. The primary objective of this study was to contribute to the discussion by investigating a potential correlation between gender stereotyping and school-aged children's preferences for their future jobs. The participants were 23 children from the 1st and 3rd grades of two public elementary schools in a city of São Paulo, Brazil. To measure gender stereotyping, the Preschool Occupations, Activities, and Traits (POAT) Scale was used. This instrument assesses how stereotypical participants are through two subscales: the Attitude Measure (AM), which assesses children's beliefs about what boys and girls can do, and the Personal Measure (PM), which assesses their self-perceptions concerning gender stereotypes. In addition, the children answered a question about their future career aspirations (“What do you want to be when you grow up?”). The results showed that most participants scored moderate levels of gender stereotyping (52.2%). An analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed no significant differences between the two age groups. However, participants scored significantly higher on the personal measure (PM) compared to the attitude measure (AM), suggesting that although children may believe that boys and girls can engage in a variety of activities, they still tend to choose gender-congruent options for themselves. Even so, among the 18 children who presented high scores on the PM subscale, only 6 of them chose jobs stereotypically associated with their gender, which may indicate a degree of flexibility in their internalized stereotypes. Despite practical limitations, such as the small and uneven sample size of this research, these findings suggest that gender stereotypes continue to influence children’s attitudes and expectations. Nonetheless, when asked broadly about their career aspirations, children may demonstrate greater flexibility, therefore pointing out the importance of more gender-neutral and inclusive educational approaches.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A experiência de mulheres mães brasileiras de jovens privados de liberdade: uma revisão sistemática da literatura(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Batista, Clara Saciloto; D'Affonseca, Sabrina Mazo; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0381029115416584The present study aimed to conduct a literature review on the experiences of women with children deprived of liberty. For this purpose, a review of national and international literature published between 2013 and 2024 was carried out. The selected abstracts were retrieved from the BIREME database. A total of 232 articles were found in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. After removing duplicates and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 9 articles remained for analysis. The results indicated a stronger tendency to focus on adolescents’ experiences, with few studies addressing the maternal perspective. The findings also revealed the presence of different forms of violence in the life trajectories of both adolescents and their mothers, in addition to socioeconomic vulnerability. The importance of adopting a broader perspective to better understand maternal experiences in this context is discussed.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Percepções parentais sobre educação sexual: continuidades e rupturas entre gerações(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Gonçalves, Clara Isabelel das Neves; Barham, Elizabeth Joan; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9868595523538592; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7270-4918; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4503588012335582; https://orcid.org/0009-0001-2838-6289For more than a century, there have been intense debates about sex education (SE) due to differences in people’s understanding of the effects of different SE strategies to achieve goals such as protection, dissemination of information, and promotion of sexual well-being.This study investigated parents’ perceptions of the sex education they received and its relationship with the educational practices they adopt with their own children, analyzing generational continuities and changes. Although academic literature recognizes the family's role in shaping sexuality, there is still a scarcity of research in Brazil that places the family system at the center of analysis - particularly regarding the intergenerational transmission of information and values related to sexuality. The study employed a quantitative-qualitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational design. A total of 64 individuals (45 mothers and 19 fathers) born between 1950 and 2000, all with at least a high school education, participated in the study. Data were collected using an online questionnaire developed by the author, composed of both closed and open-ended questions. The results indicate that many participants received insufficient guidance during their upbringing and that their families were minimally involved in their sex education. Despite this, there was a clear desire to provide their children with a different and more adequate form of sex education, although some participants reported feeling unprepared for this task. A significant association was found between having received (or not received) information in the family of origin, and the tendency to pass these ideas on to their own children (X²(1) = 16.295; p < 0.001). It was also observed that younger parents tended to use the internet more frequently as a source of information and, in some cases, had arranged consultations with healthcare professionals to address this topic with their children. However, the educational practices reported revealed a predominance of biomedical content, to the detriment of a broader approach to sexuality. The results highlight the need to develop resources to help parents engage in their children’s sexual education with greater autonomy and critical awareness, promoting an emancipatory approach to sex education grounded in citizenship and human rights. A key limitation of the study concerns the sample, which is not representative of the Brazilian population of parents. In addition to being individuals more open to discussing sexuality, most participants had high levels of education and were over 45 years old, which limits the analysis of broader historical-cultural influences. Based on these results, it would be useful to develop and evaluate materials to assist parents in reflecting on and preparing to address sex education with their children in a continuous and comprehensive manner, taking into consideration the different stages of child and adolescent developmentlistelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Dimensões subjetivas da experiência do abuso de substâncias psicoativas por usuários do centro de atenção psicossocial em álcool e outras drogas de São Carlos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Silva, Pedro de Oliveira Fernandes da; Fioroni, Luciana Nogueira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8086810053892035; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2311-7848; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2295035591592528; https://orcid.org/0009-0004-1507-2004The consumption of psychoactive substances (PAS) permeates the constitution of humanity, starting from a practice of altering the state of consciousness to a way of dealing with discomfort. In this way, a set of issues of public health order is built around these substances, due to their intoxicating potential. This made it necessary to create specialized care strategies that had adequate care techniques to meet the mental health demands of users, materialized in CAPSad and in the harm reduction model. Even so, as substance abuse is constituted by the interaction of psychosocial determinants and the unconscious structure of the relationship that the user establishes with the substance, it describes an essentially unique process that must be treated as such. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the subjective dimensions in the experience of psychoactive substance abuse by users of the CAPSad in the municipality of São Carlos. To this end, this social psychology in health research was constructed, of an empirical and qualitative-interpretative nature, which included the participation of 12 users of the CAPSad in São Carlos (24 to 61 years old, 9 men and 3 women) through the McGill Illness Narrative Interview (MINI). The participants also answered a questionnaire for the characterization of abuse, and a script was used for the analysis of data from their medical records. The research data were analyzed using thematic content analysis in the hermeneutic-dialectical approach. Key conclusions include: the experience of abuse is impacted by the user's life history and is unique through the rituals, gains, and losses of the harmful consumption of psychoactive substances; users attribute particular meanings to their own experience of abuse, its genesis, and the possibility of treatment. The production of the participants' subjectivity is traversed by agencies of guilt and shame that associate their way of existing with exclusion, loss of autonomy, and illness. Substance abuse was characterized by several psychosocial determinants of the health and illness process, pointing to the subject's vulnerability to this type of abuse, and the experience of treatment for abuse influences the production of diseased subjectivities. These conclusions indicate the need for specialized health care services such as CAPSad to prioritize, in team work planning, this dimension of singularity in the modes of substance abuse, in conjunction with the psychosocial determinants of the health and disease process. This confirms the relevance of the individualized therapeutic project (PTS) as a powerful technology for organizing mental health care, as it guarantees a comprehensive and individualized approach by encompassing aspects of care, education, and management of work in health.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Estudo comparativo sobre a utilização de barras de frp e de aço no projeto de tabuleiro de pontes rodoviárias de concreto(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Casteleti, Vitor Garcia; Almeida Filho, Fernando Menezes de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0447825383222965Slabs are a constituent part of a multi-beam concrete bridge, and in most cases, they are made using steel rebars to resist stress. However, this material may present problems in the long term, such as corrosion and loss of resistance due to pathological manifestations. Therefore, an alternative to this problem would be the use of fiberreinforced polymer bars, as they have a greater capacity than steel to resist various types of pathological manifestations in the environment. Therefore, the objective of this text was to study FRP rebars applied to road bridge decks and compare them with steel rebar, searching for existing data in the bibliography mainly abroad, where its use is already more established. For the object of study, dimensioning was carried out for 4 cases of bridge slabs, two cases with steel rebars and two with FRP rebars, where a slab span typology with multiple beams was defined and the calculations were performed following the definitions of ABNT NBR 6118:2023 and ABNT NBR 17196:2025. According to the results, it is concluded that FRP rebars can be used in bridge decks, however, further studies are still needed to better quantify the benefits of their use, especially in relation to the lifespan of the material and the maintenance costs of this type of structure.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, (Con)Viver com HIV/AIDS: sentidos e significados para uma população atendida em um serviço de saúde no interior do estado de São Paulo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Ferreira, Carolina; Fioroni, Luciana Nogueira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8086810053892035; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2311-7848; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1816864512936987; https://orcid.org/0009-0007-6776-1022The first cases of AIDS emerged in 1981, but its cause—the HIV virus—was only identified years later. Being HIV-positive meant facing stigma, prejudice, and a death perceived as inevitable. More than just a disease, AIDS was morally condemned, associated with sexuality and so-called "risk behaviors," leading to symbolic losses and both physical and psychological suffering. With the advancement of antiretroviral therapy, HIV became a chronic condition, transforming its social representation and the ways of life of people living with the virus. This is an empirical, qualitative, and interpretive study that seeks to understand the changing meanings of living with HIV/AIDS today. It explores lifestyles, strategies for coping with chronic illness, the effects of diagnosis on mental health, and the lived experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data collection took place in two stages: 1. A questionnaire including sociodemographic questions and the WHOQOL-HIV-Bref instrument (a quality of life indicator) and 2. Narrative interviews. A total of 42 people participated (n=42), mostly self-identified as white, cisgender men, heterosexual, with an average age of 44, completed secondary or higher education, and an individual income of one to two minimum wages. The WHOQOL-HIV-Bref results indicated an Intermediate or High quality of life, with the highest scores in the domain of “Spirituality/Religion and Personal Beliefs” and the lowest in “Level of Independence”. Based on the analysis of 12 interviews—with diagnoses between 2004 and 2019, undetectable viral loads, and Intermediate or High quality of life—the following thematic categories and corresponding meaning cores were identified: 1. Self-understanding and (co)living with HIV/AIDS today; 2. Diagnosis and clinical trajectory; 3. Coping strategies in the face of HIV/AIDS chronicity; 4. Subjectivities and HIV/AIDS; 5. HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 and 6. Health care and HIV/AIDS. Despite stigma and social inequalities, participants demonstrated a positive quality of life, particularly in subjective aspects such as spirituality and personal beliefs. The narratives revealed that, despite physical, emotional, and social challenges, living with HIV/AIDS involves coping strategies, reinterpretation, and meaning-making. The thematic categories enhance the understanding of these life trajectories, reinforcing the importance of integrated and humanized health care that goes beyond the biomedical model to include the psychosocial, emotional, and cultural dimensions of living with HIV.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Restauração de imagens de sensoriamento remoto por métodos de deconvolução não linear restrita(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Visioli, Felipe de Luca; Pazelli, Tatiana de Figueiredo Pereira Alves Taveira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2574900514697052; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9468-6303; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9720443479390546; https://orcid.org/0009-0009-6177-3211This work presents a comprehensive study on the deconvolution of orbital images, addressing its motivations, methodologies, and inherent challenges. Deconvolution is a fundamental technique for restoring image quality, particularly in satellite imagery of the Earth's surface, which is often degraded by atmospheric scattering, optical diffraction, and motion blur. Such distortions compromise the accuracy and utility of images in critical applications, including environmental monitoring, natural resource management, and disaster response. The methodology adopted in this research involves modeling the degradation mechanisms through the point spread function (PSF), implementing classical, iterative, and deep learning-based deconvolution algorithms, and conducting a comparative performance analysis. The evaluated methods include Inverse Filtering, Wiener filtering, Richardson-Lucy with and without "Total Variation" regularization, and "Deep Image Prior", under both known and blind PSF conditions. To support experimentation, the IDIA software tool was developed, integrating modules for image preprocessing and restoration, and metric-based image analysis. The algorithms were implemented and tested on synthetically degraded remote sensing images, with the objective of assessing each method’s effectiveness in enhancing spatial resolution, increasing contrast, and minimizing artifacts. The results demonstrate that iterative methods with regularization provide greater robustness against noise, while DIP offers stronger reconstruction capabilities without amplifying visual artifacts. Metric-based evaluation using PSNR, SSIM, NRMSE, and FWHM corroborates the visual assessments. The feasibility of this project was supported by the availability of advanced image processing tools and the growing demand for high-quality satellite imagery. Overall, this study contributes to the advancement of restoration techniques applied to Earth observation, offering a practical and extensible foundation for future developments.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Repertório de habilidades sociais e vivência universitária de estudantes com transtorno do espectro autista(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Reggi, Maria Eduarda Primo; Elias, Nassim Chamel; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4216525883778695; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6944587716799307Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent deficits in communication and social interaction, as well as repetitive and restricted behavior patterns. Symptoms can be worsened by late diagnosis and lack of early intervention, impacting social skills essential for the quality of life and inclusion of autistic adults. Higher education is a critical context for students' mental health, and social skills are protective factors against academic adversity and psychological distress, becoming even more relevant for autistic students. This study aimed to identify the social skills repertoire of university students with ASD and to investigate possible correlations with time since diagnosis. Sixty university students from Brazilian institutions (30 with ASD and 30 without a diagnosis) participated in the study and completed a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Social Skills Inventory 2. Descriptive statistical analyses, correlation analyses, and group differences analyses were performed, as well as thematic content analysis. The ASD group presented a significantly lower repertoire of social skills, particularly assertive communication and expressing positive feelings. There was no significant correlation between time since diagnosis and social skills. Greater difficulties were reported in social or academic avoidance, initiating interactions, and participating in groups, with reports of isolation and a lack of belonging. The results reinforce the need for specific interventions that promote belonging and strengthen bonds in the university context, in addition to providing support for public policies and future research on the inclusion and mental health of autistic university students.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Aspectos correlacionais da inteligência emocional, gratidão e autorregulação emocional(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Silva, Elismar; Miguel, Fabiano Koich; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8404130543685490Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to accurately process emotional information through mental processes that involve the recognition, regulation, and adaptive application of emotions, in oneself and others. Its development is a fundamental aspect for the individual. Its organization is closely linked to emotional self-regulation, which refers to the different mental processes that exert control and influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Gratitude is a character-strength construct linked to transcendence; that is, gratitude is a feeling that responds to something we receive, whether material or not. This study aimed to analyze which aspects of emotional intelligence relate to self-regulation and gratitude. 258 people over 18 years of age, from all regions of Brazil, participated in this online survey. A strong correlation was observed between the measures of emotional regulation, as they assess the same construct from opposite perspectives. We also identified that gratitude is moderately related to better empathy, sociability, and emotional regulation. Finally, a centrality was found for QoE2, a factor that concerns cognitive empathy, which may be a facilitator for the development of other constructs.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Preditores e motivos da permanência a maior em internações clínicas de um hospital universitário(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Rinaldi, Juliana Ranalli; Neves, Fábio Fernandes; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2652568399519714; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6536-3249; Zem-Mascarenhas, Silvia Helena; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0185144417072417; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7753-6725; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0225023507093907; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2473-1900This study identified risk predictors for prolonged hospital stay and the reasons that delayed timely discharge in clinical admissions at a public university hospital. This is a quantitative, analytical, and descriptive study based on the analysis of 250 medical records, considering clinical, sociodemographic, and functional variables. Validated tools were used, such as the Blaylock Risk Assessment Screening Score (BRASS), the Fugulin scale, and the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI). Cases of prolonged stay, as defined by the Management System of the Table of Procedures, Medications and OPM of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIGTAP/SUS), had the reasons for delayed discharge classified based on the Day of Care Survey (clinical reasons) and the National Delayed Discharge Criteria of the Scottish National Health Service (social reasons). The list of patients with Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) was provided by the Hospital Infection Control Service (SCIRAS). It was found that 39.6% of patients had a prolonged hospital stay, accounting for 30% of hospital bed-days. The Fugulin scale showed the best predictive performance (AUC = 0.639), measuring functional complexity; BRASS showed high sensitivity (88.1%) for early screening (AUC = 0.593), and CCI had the lowest isolated predictive power (AUC = 0.566). The combined use of the three tools increased predictive accuracy for prolonged hospital stay. Multivariate analysis revealed that Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission increased the chance of prolonged stay by 2.85 times; HAI presence increased risk by 7.1 times; greater functional dependence increased risk by 14% per additional point on the Fugulin scale; and genitourinary diagnoses increased risk sixfold. The investigation of the reasons for prolonged hospital stay revealed a predominance of clinical factors (74%), particularly the need for parenteral medication and continuous monitoring. Social reasons included home preparation and caregiver, with 20 cases. The results reinforce that early discharge planning is essential to reduce hospital length of stay, minimize adverse events, lower hospital costs, and promote efficient bed utilization.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Até que a morte nos separe: violência entre parceiros íntimos com mulheres indígenas dos povos Atikum e Pankará(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-08) Freire de Sá Neta, Maria das Graças Gonçalves; D'Affonseca, Sabrina Mazo; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0381029115416584; AtikumIntimate partner violence (IPV) is recognized as a global public health issue that affects approximately 30% of women worldwide. In particular, for Indigenous women, the literature is scarce and their experiences are often rendered invisible. This study aimed to investigate the variables that either inhibited or contributed to the breaking of the cycle of IPV among Indigenous women from the Atikum and Pankará peoples. Six women participated (three from the Atikum and three from the Pankará ethnic groups), all of whom were victims of IPV and had ended their relationships with their partners. In-person individual interviews were conducted with each of them. The data were transcribed and analyzed using thematic content analysis. The results indicated that the escalation of violence and the partner's use of alcohol and drugs were driving factors, while the normalization of violence and fear of social judgment were inhibiting factors in ending the relationship. Children acted as both motivators and barriers. Addressing IPV in Indigenous contexts requires an approach that is sensitive to the cultural, spiritual, and collective specificities of these women, breaking away from the universalizing logic of traditional interventions.
