To this end, qualitative documentary research was conducted through the analysis of news articles published between September 2023 and October 2024 in widely circulated media outlets. The data were examined using descriptive content analysis. The findings reveal that, despite the guidelines established by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, scientifically unproven interventions—such as the use of chlorine dioxide, fecal transplants, and stem cell therapies—continue to be promoted. These practices exploit the vulnerability of families and expose individuals to significant health risks. Misinformation, amplified by social media and news outlets, undermines access to effective, evidence-based interventions. Aiming to uphold the right to access culture and entertainment, Brazilian legislation provides for actions to ensure this right for deaf signers, such as the professional activity of translators and interpreters in a variety of contexts. The presence of these professionals has drawn attention from both deaf and hearing individuals across the country since the widely viewed musical livestreams during the disheartening pandemic years. As a matter of fact, deaf professionals on these teams have increasingly taken the stage at concerts following the return of public cultural events. Recent research on music translation highlights this growing movement of deaf interpreters claiming these spaces and experiencing musicality in their own ways. Seeking to broaden the discussion on how these communities experience this melodic form of art, this exploratory qualitative study aimed to reflect on the personal and professional musical experiences of deaf artistic translators/interpreters. To this end, semi-structured interviews were conducted with three participants and analyzed in dialogue with concepts from Sign Language Translation and Interpretation Studies and the historical-cultural perspective. The acerola tree (Malpighia emarginata D.C.), due to its high vitamin C content and considerable carotenoid value, shows potential for biofortification strategies aimed at combating iron-deficiency anemia. This study aimed to evaluate the interaction and effects of different doses of chelated iron (Fe-EDDHA), in association with the application of auxin (naphthaleneacetic acid – NAA), in acerola plants. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design (CRD), in a 3 × 2 factorial scheme, totaling six treatments with four replications. Three iron concentrations (0.0245%, 0.049%, and 0.0735%) were tested, with or without NAA application at 10 mg/L. Physiological variables such as chlorophyll b content, stomatal conductance, and photosystem II efficiency were sensitive to the interaction between iron and auxin, indicating effects on photosynthetic activity, transpiration, and gas exchange. Results showed that increasing iron doses did not necessarily lead to higher nutrient accumulation in fruits, and the highest dose (0.0735%) combined with NAA resulted in plants without fruit production. Differences in iron content between leaves and fruits suggest restrictions on the redistribution of this micronutrient among plant tissues. Auxin application also affected soil parameters such as electrical conductivity and pH, which may have influenced iron absorption. It was concluded that high iron doses and the presence of auxin negatively affect fruit production and iron translocation, indicating the need for adjustments in doses and application methods. Overall, higher iron levels, even when associated with auxin, did not promote greater nutrient accumulation in acerola, highlighting the need for further studies on the mechanisms of iron absorption and translocation. This scenario has fueled the growth of the secure room construction sector, especially among companies that need to store sensitive data, such as data centers. This study focuses on the production dynamics of modules intended for secure rooms and vaults in a company based in Sorocaba, Brazil. In this context, the adopted production system is project-based, presenting specific challenges, particularly in the precise cutting of sheets and bars. The main objective is to study optimization models for one- and two-dimensional cutting to assess the potential for reducing material waste, with an emphasis on reducing associated costs. Furthermore, the aim is to analyze the feasibility of working with stock parts, which can provide both financial and environmental benefits. To this end, different scenarios were defined to represent possible decision-making alternatives within the company, primarily structured through goal-programming models. The activities involved planning, assembling, and monitoring the vermicomposting process, including the first biofertilizer collection, as well as supporting awareness-raising and garden care initiatives. The experience allowed me to apply knowledge from my undergraduate degree in Environmental Management and Analysis, develop technical and personal skills, and reflect on the challenges of the profession given limited resources and the need for community engagement. There has been a great expansion of public schools of integral education in the last decade, driven by national legislations and policies. In São Paulo State, the Integral Education Program (PEI) has grown significantly, and this study seeks to understand how schools have organized and managed the expansion of hours in the training of students, identifying program guidelines for training activities planning and the pedagogical challenges faced by professionals, based on qualitative bibliographical research. The results indicate that PEI schools face structural and pedagogical limitations that burden professionals and reduce their autonomy. The extension of school time has not necessarily guaranteed better training, because bureaucratic activities have also increased, impairing pedagogical work. Five formulations were prepared: a control (C) containing 1.75% commercial NaCl, and four with 50% sodium reduction (0.875%): commercial NaCl (RR), micronized salt (RM), RM with 1% yeast extract (RM1), and RM with 2% yeast extract (RM2). Results showed that, in raw burgers, moisture content was similar among samples; however, in cooked products, the control retained more water, possibly due to greater myofibrillar protein solubilization promoted by the higher salt content. Among the reduced-salt formulations, raw RR and RM samples exhibited lower protein content compared to RM2, likely due to the high protein content of yeast extract, although no significant differences in protein content were observed after cooking. Regarding lipid content, no significant differences were found among the formulations, in either raw or cooked samples. The control showed higher ash content due to the greater amount of NaCl. As for cooking properties, the control demonstrated greater moisture retention, while lipid retention was similar across samples. Lipid oxidation results were comparable in raw samples; however, RM1 and RM2 showed higher TBARS (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) levels after cooking, although these values remained within acceptable limits to maintain sensory quality and avoid detectable oxidation by consumers. The findings demonstrate that salt reduction and the addition of yeast extract influence the composition, moisture retention, and lipid oxidation of beef burgers. However, in several practical applications, the physical parameters and accurate models of these converters are not completely known, hindering rigorous simulations and a proper understanding of the dynamic behavior of these systems. In this context, this work proposes a methodology for the parametric identification of Boost converters operating in continuous conduction mode, based on the integration of small-signal modeling, pseudo-random binary signal (PRBS) excitation, and genetic algorithms. First, the theoretical basis of the Boost converter is developed, analytically deducing the transfer function Gvg(s) using the state space averaging method. This deduction establishes the dependence between the physical parameters resistor (R), inductor (L), capacitor (C) and duty cycle (D), and the dynamic response of the converter. Subsequently, the experimental methodology is implemented in the MATLAB/Simulink environment, introducing small PRBS-type disturbances in the input voltage, which makes it possible to obtain the transfer function experimentally through differential spectral analysis. The genetic algorithm is configured with real encoding, with each chromosome responsible for simultaneously estimating the four parameters of the converter, using as an objective function the minimization of the normalized mean square error between the magnitudes of the theoretical and experimental transfer functions. The robustness of the proposed technique is evaluated considering three progressive scenarios of increasing complexity: ideal components with narrow search limits (±1%), inclusion of non-idealities (equivalent series resistances - ESR), and expansion of search limits to larger ranges (±5% and ±10%). The results obtained demonstrated good accuracy in parametric identification, with relative errors within the established ranges, validating the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed methodology. High productivity, resistance to pathogens and stress, and good fruit quality indices all of these aspects, when found in promising varieties, contribute to the current scenario of citriculture. This study aimed to select, among dozens of materials under field evaluation, those varieties with the greatest commercial potential and to characterize them phenotypically. For this purpose, plant height and canopy diameter were measured, and canopy volume was calculated. In addition, evaluations were conducted regarding resistance to Alternaria brown spot. For productivity analysis, counts of green fruits were performed, along with the weighing of mature fruits and calculation of their averages to estimate yield. Furthermore, during the maturation period, 10 fruits were periodically collected for physical-chemical quality analysis (three replications), and the number of seeds per fruit was recorded. The methodology was based on the application of forms to sugarcane mills in these two states, totaling information from 129 mills in 2024, with an area of 4.21 million hectares, compared to 121 mills in 2014, which totaled 3.74 million hectares. The analysis revealed a reduction in varietal concentration, indicating greater diversification in current cultivation, reflecting advances in genetic improvement, which have developed cultivars better adapted to the demands of the sector. The varieties RB867515, RB966928, and RB855156 remained among the most cultivated during the period considered, due to their characteristics of hardiness, adaptation to mechanization, and precocity, respectively. On the other hand, cultivars such as SP81-3250 and CTC15 lost their share due to susceptibility to orange rust, while varieties RB855453, RB92579, RB855536, SP83-2847, and SP80-1842 were replaced by new varieties with better overall performance and better adapted to new growing conditions. During the study period, new cultivars gained ground, notably RB975242, RB975201, RB985476, CTC4, CTC9001, CTC9003, and CV7870. This reflects the contribution of breeding to the sugarcane industry, providing new tools in the ongoing search for productivity gains and greater agronomic efficiency. To ensure high productivity and fruit quality, an adequate supply of nutrients is essential. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different nitrogen (N) doses on young ‘Valencia’ orange plants grafted onto citrandarin rootstocks. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design, in a split-plot scheme with three replicates. The rootstocks (IAC 3152 Itajobi, IAC 3026 Santa Amélia, and IAC 3073 Barretos) were allocated to the main plots, while the nitrogen doses (0, 60, 120, and 180 g plant⁻¹) were assigned to the subplots. The following variables were evaluated: vegetative development, soil and plant nutrition, gas exchange parameters (photosynthesis and stomatal conductance), HLB severity, and total chlorophyll content. The results showed no significant differences in leaf nitrogen content among the applied doses, indicating nutritional stability during this initial growth phase. However, differences were observed among the rootstocks, with IAC 3152 Itajobi being the most promising in terms of vegetative growth and water use efficiency, while IAC 3026 Santa Amélia showed greater susceptibility to HLB. Nitrogen doses positively influenced chlorophyll content, showing a correlation with increased photosynthetic activity. The guiding question was: Which processes related to professional development emerge from teachers’ participation in collaborative meetings focused on Mathematics Education? To address this question, a study group was established, articulating teaching, research, and outreach activities through face-to-face meetings, synchronous online sessions, and asynchronous interactions in a virtual learning environment. The activities emphasized theoretical studies, reflective writing, and the sharing of pedagogical practices. The theoretical framework was grounded in Wenger (1998) and Lave and Wenger (2002), regarding Communities of Practice, as well as contributions from Day (2001), Nóvoa (1992; 2019), Contreras (2002), Marcelo-García (2009), and Gama (2013), who discuss teacher professional development from a collaborative perspective.The group experienced a collective constitution process, marked by qualified listening, pedagogical co-authorship, and identity strengthening, configuring itself as a space for continuous and situated learning. The results show that the proposal fostered the building of bonds, the re-signification of teachers’ relationship with Mathematics, the circulation of professional knowledge, and the consolidation of innovative practices, based on a formative approach that values concrete experiences, the real challenges of teaching, and the collective production of meaning.Thus, the study points to a broadened conception of collaborative teacher professional development, anchored in negotiation, authorship, and the transformative potential of practices lived within community.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Caracterização agronômica de linhagens de pimenta roxas (Capsicum chinense)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-07-17) Almeida, Isabelle Nogueira Fernandes de; Sala, Fernando César; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6771975466075202Capsicum peppers are distinguished by their wide diversity of shapes, aromas, and colors. The consumption of these peppers has been increasing both in Brazil and worldwide, establishing a promising market that involves various agricultural sectors. This stimulus has encouraged the search for new cultivars with varied characteristics and qualities. In pepper fruits, especially those displaying purplish hues, the characteristic coloration is due to the accumulation of anthocyanins in the epidermal and pulp cells. Anthocyanins are natural pigments belonging to the flavonoid class. Currently, purple-colored peppers are not available in the Brazilian market. For the development of these new cultivars, the characterization of accessions from germplasm banks is fundamental for future Capsicum genetic breeding programs. In this context, the present study was developed to perform the agronomic characterization of purple pepper genotypes from the Germplasm Bank of the Federal University of São Carlos, Araras campus. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, evaluating 8 C. chinense lines. Agronomic assessments were based on quantitative criteria, qualitative descriptors, and instrumental color analysis. The analysis of the results indicated that the Rh Lilac Black, Bode Roxa, Olho Mutum, and Rubro Black Multicolor lines stood out due to their good yield, important morphological and visual characteristics, and significant potential for integration into purple pepper breeding programs. In addition to the domestic market, there is substantial demand abroad, particularly in Asia, the world's largest consumer of this product. Given this scenario, agronomic characterization and the development of new C. chinense cultivars are essential, especially considering that only about 70 cultivars are currently registered in the National Cultivar Registry (RNC). In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate, among the selected lineages, those with commercial potential by characterizing, from agronomic and physicochemical perspectives, nine F5 lineages of Capsicum chinense from the Germplasm Bank of the Federal University of São Carlos, compared to the commercial cultivar 'Dedo-de-moça.' The experiment was conducted in a protected environment using a randomized block design, with three replicates and four plants per plot, totaling 10 treatments. Evaluations were based on quantitative criteria and qualitative descriptors, as well as physicochemical and sensory analyses. Data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by the Scott-Knott test (p < 0.05). Among the results, the F5 2027-3P Pl.1 lineage stood out, exhibiting the highest yield (8.35 t/ha) and ideal traits for preserves, condiments, and dehydration—such as thinner flesh and smaller fruit size, attributes that favor faster absorption of pickling liquids and more efficient dehydration. Conversely, the F5 2027-3P Pl.2 lineage showed the second-highest yield (7.71 t/ha) and proved more suitable for fresh consumption and sauce production due to its thicker flesh and larger fruit size compared to other lineages. Additionally, it received the highest sensory evaluation score (8.2/10) in consumer preference tests. Both lineages demonstrate potential to advance the genetic improvement of C. chinense, meeting diverse demands of the market and food industry.
