Science communication plays a fundamental role in universities and society mediation, especially in the context of misinformation and disconnect between scientific production and the general public. Communicating science requires more than just transmitting data; it demands dialogue, empathy, and the recognition of the public as an active participant in the communicative process. The advancement of digital technologies and the consolidation of social networks, such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and streaming platforms like Spotify, have transformed how knowledge is shared and consumed. In this scenario, the podcast stands out as a strategic tool for science communication, due to its accessible language and potential to reach different audiences. The objective of this project is to develop, implement, and evaluate the podcast "Researcher's Chat," with the aim of promoting the dissemination of scientific knowledge in the field of Chemistry. In the first stage, a survey of national scientific podcast production was conducted, based on a mixed-methods approach and data collected from Spotify, websites, and digital libraries. In the second stage, interviews were conducted with producers of science communication podcasts, analyzed according to the content analysis methodology proposed by Bardin (2011). The third stage comprised the production and analysis of the podcast PodPapo de Pesquisador, focused on science communication in Chemistry, using Spotify metrics—such as reach, retention, age range, and geographic location of the audience—in addition to monitoring the social networks Instagram and TikTok. The overall picture showed an expanding ecosystem of scientific podcasts, highlighting productions such as Scicast, Fronteiras da Ciência, Oxigênio, Chutando a Escada, and Dragões de Garagem. However, the underrepresentation of women in production teams was observed, reflecting structural imbalances still present in this field. The interviews indicated that the personal and educational trajectories of the producers significantly influence how they understand and practice science communication. The absence of multidisciplinary teams, the overload of functions, and the lack of technical training were identified as obstacles to the quality and sustainability of the projects. It was also noted that characterizing the audience is difficult, as it is still largely concentrated in profiles close to the academic environment. In the specific case of Chemistry, it was found that episodes that integrated personal narratives, life stories, and scientific content showed greater retention and engagement, while those focused only on the technical aspect obtained lower performance. Clarity in decoding information and a balance between rigor and accessibility proved fundamental to communicative success. Dissemination strategies on social media were essential to broaden reach and understand audience engagement patterns. Given the vast extent of tropical forests, enhancing low-cost remote sensing (RS) systems is fundamental to overcoming technical barriers in monitoring. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the potential of the Sentinel-2A and 2B satellites to replicate and scale the forest class discrimination methodology, originally tested with the VENμS sensor, in FLR programs. The research sought to assess how spectral diversity and the influence of seasonality contribute to the classification of tropical forest typologies. The study was conducted at the Itatinga Forest Science Experimental Station (EECFI-USP), analyzing forest classes such as: mature seasonal deciduous forests (over 80 years old), natural regeneration, cerrado, active restoration areas (mixed planting of native seedlings), and homogeneous plantations of Eucalyptus and Pinus. Using images generated from a 20x20 meter spatial resolution orbital scene for summer and one for the winter period, the Random Forest algorithm was employed to integrate various biophysical and structural attributes: advanced vegetation indices (NDMI, EVI, NBR, NDVI, NDVIRe, and CLre1), seasonal layers, summer and winter delta, texture metrics, and spectral diversity indicators (alpha and beta), derived from the biodivMapR package. The results demonstrated the robustness of the approach, with the model achieving an overall accuracy of over 80% and an average cross-class accuracy of 86.2%. The textural, seasonal, and spectral diversity layers stood out as the most important attributes for class discrimination, reinforcing the role of canopy structural heterogeneity. The greatest spectral variability, essential for differentiation, was observed in forest regeneration and active restoration areas. The study also confirmed the potential of the Red-Edge and SWIR bands of Sentinel-2A and 2B in structural and physiological characterization, establishing a replicable and low-cost protocol using free tools (R and QGIS). Trees develop growth stress as a survival strategy to grow tall; however, these stresses become obstacles when humans utilize wood. The elastic component of growth stress is released during felling and sawing, while the viscoelastic component is released during boiling. The latter is referred to as hygrothermal recovery (HTR). Although various studies on HTR have been conducted, its detailed behavior remains unclear. This study aimed to understand the radial distribution of wood properties and the role of HTR in hardwood containing tension wood. In Chapter 3, HTR was examined from the bark to the pith together with the G-layer proportion, crystallinity index (C.I.), microfibril angle (MFA), and drying strain. In Chapter 4, HTR was evaluated under various treatment temperatures and durations, along with drying mass change, crystallite size (L), and d-spacing for comparison. In Chapter 3, the results showed that HTR alone exhibited dependence on the distance from the pith and contributed to the release of the viscoelastic component of growth stress. In Chapter 4, in the tangential (T) direction, viscoelastic release of compressive growth stress was confirmed by detecting the expansion of d-spacing between cellulose molecular chains. In the longitudinal (L) direction, it was confirmed that the viscoelastic release of tensile growth stress likely occurs at a more macroscopic level—such as contractive relaxation of pre-stretched cellulose microfibrils (CMFs)— rather than through a decrease in the d-spacing of cellulose crystallites along the molecular axis. This work investigates whether incorporating carbonized kraft lignin (CKL) into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films can enhance their structural and functional properties and enable their use as gas-sensor membranes. PVA films containing 0, 10, 30, and 50 weight percent (wt.%) CKL were prepared and characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), water-contact-angle (wettability) measurements, and tensile testing, followed by ammonia (NH3), ethanol (C2H5OH), and toluene (C7H8) sensing. CKL increased thermal stability (temperature at 5% mass loss, T5%, up to 135 °C vs. 80 °C for neat PVA), raised carbonaceous residue to 15%, and improved Young’s modulus while reducing elongation and water contact angle. Gas-sensing tests revealed a strong, reversible current response to NH3, with PVA/50 wt.% CKL exhibiting the highest current (ca. 23 µA), along with detectable responses to ethanol and toluene. The study is based on the hypothesis that there is a gap in the implementation of critical environmental education principles in both formal school environments and Protected Areas (PAs), which calls for an investigation into whether mediation between these spaces can address such a deficiency. The primary objective was to analyze the effectiveness of educational practices in these institutions and propose actions to strengthen their integration through the lens of Socio-environmental Geography. Methodologically, the research is anchored in Freirean-based propositive research, utilizing focus groups with teachers and semi-structured interviews with environmental guides to diagnose the challenges presented. The theoretical framework is grounded in authors such as Loureiro, Tozoni-Reis, Porto-Gonçalves, Mendonça and Freire. The results reveal that, despite severe institutional barriers — such as curricular fragmentation, lack of time, and limited resources —, there is a genuine enthusiasm among educators to connect school content with practical experiences, as well as among environmental guides during guided trails. In response to these limitations, the research presents, in its final chapter, an Interdisciplinary Action Plan that materializes the "untested feasibility" (inédito viável), integrating skills from National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) with thematic axes linked to the Ipanema National Forest. Despite the clinical relevance of this pathogen, no licensed vaccines against E. cloacae currently exist, and the therapeutic alternatives available are becoming progressively more limited. In this context, the present study aimed to develop a multi-epitope vaccine candidate capable of inducing both cellular and humoral immune responses against conserved proteins of this pathogen, using a robust pipeline integrating subtractive proteomics, reverse vaccinology, and immunoinformatics. A total of 21 complete clinical genomes were analyzed, enabling the identification of 1,352 proteins associated with essentiality, virulence, or antibiotic resistance, which were subsequently filtered to yield 39 proteins non-homologous to the human proteome and to the gut microbiota. From these, nine promising proteins were selected, and B- and T-cell epitopes were predicted based on high binding affinity to multiple MHC alleles, non-toxicity, absence of allergenicity, and elevated immunogenic potential. These components supported the development of four multi-epitope vaccine constructs (VEC1–VEC4), among which VEC1 exhibited the most favorable characteristics, including optimal physicochemical properties, a stable three-dimensional structure, strong predicted interaction with Toll-like receptors, and an estimated global population coverage of 92.6%. Immune simulations demonstrated the vaccine’s ability to induce robust antibody production, activation of helper and cytotoxic T cells, and formation of memory cells after three simulated doses. Additionally, the VEC1 sequence was codon-optimized for expression in Escherichia coli and successfully cloned in silico into the pET-28a (+) vector, indicating feasibility for future experimental validation. The vaccine candidate developed here shows practical potential for controlling E. cloacae infections, contributing to reduced selective pressure from antibiotics and supporting efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance. The research, configured as an experimentation based on the action-research methodology and the approach of research in/of/with daily life, was conducted with high school students from a public technical school. The central hypothesis is that the simulation and construction features of Minecraft, combined with active methodologies, facilitate the apprehension of complex geographical content and promote collaborative learning. Data collection included questionnaires, participant observation, and semi-structured interviews. The results indicate a significant increase in student motivation and engagement, as well as a greater retention of the content covered. The analysis reveals that the practical interaction in the simulated environment allowed students to apply and re-signify concepts such as territory and landscape, and to experience a representation of the transition to the technical environment. The first is related to the use of sustainable drainage techniques, such as Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), like LID, SuDS, WSUDS, Sponge Cities, among others. The second axis deals with building information modeling (BIM), its methodologies, techniques and possibilities, applied to these systems. With the objective of uniting these axes, the research used Design Science Research as a methodology for proposing artifacts to solve real problems. It was possible to analyze the field of knowledge of NBS and related terms, seeking an initial consolidation, from which sets of IFC properties were developed for application in representative NBS BIM object, along with the formalization of Information Requirements according to ISO 19650 (OIR, AIR, PIR, EIR) appropriate to the specification and management of NBS projects based on the BIM methodology. Among the various functions assumed by the school institution, its relevance stands out as an environment of social interactions in which individuals establish relationships and develop skills such as coexistence, empathy, and cooperation. However, these interactions can also reflect dynamics of inclusion and exclusion, processes intrinsic to school life. Phenomena such as bullying highlight how exclusion can deeply affect students’ lives, generating consequences that extend beyond the limits of the school. With the advent and popularization of new technologies, these social dynamics have acquired a new dimension. Interactions and conflicts, previously restricted to the physical school space, now extend to social networks and digital platforms, potentially taking on even larger and more complex proportions. Many of these episodes, often premeditated and announced either subtly or explicitly on digital platforms, raise urgent questions about the relationship between the school environment, social interactions, and the use of social networks. Given the above, it is observed that the processes of bullying and cyberbullying are interconnected with school massacres. Likewise, it is possible to analyze, based on the statements and experiences of students and teaching staff, how hate speech can influence and reshape the school environment and its spatialities. The data collected through questionnaires applied to students and teachers reveal vulnerabilities and the growing presence of hate speech and motivating content in virtual social networks. Bullying and cyberbullying, therefore, do not result from a single factor but from multiple dimensions. Although bullying is not the only determinant, it appears as a recurring element in attack narratives. The study concludes that violence is fluid, reinvents itself, and finds in cyberspace both an environment of support and a means of spreading hostility.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A artesania sociológica de Heleieth Iara B. How does lived experience shape the concepts that, in turn, become tools for transforming life itself, both singular and collective? Seeking to answer these questions, this dissertation examines the trajectory of the Brazilian sociologist Heleieth Iara Bongiovani Saffioti (1934-2010) unraveling the web of interdependencies that made her improbable journey possible. Originating from a rural background and endowed with limited capital, she dedicated her life to examining the “hidden Brazil” – that of women – a project initiated with her seminal postdoctoral thesis, A mulher na sociedade de classes: mito e realidade (1969). From this point onward, a career firmly grounded in praxis unfolded, which this study reconstructs in light of her positions, dialogues, productions, and reception within the national and international intellectual field, particularly in France. Based on an extensive body of sources (including institutional and personal archives, interviews, Saffioti's academic production, and periodical archives) and in biographical approaches, with an emphasis on the work of Daniel Bertaux, Françoise Battagliola et al., Howard Becker, and Pierre Bourdieu, this study situates Saffioti's familial, professional, and militant dimensions, analyzing them in their dynamic and contradictory relationship with the political-intellectual circles and the socio-historical scene of her time. Heleieth Saffioti's trajectory, from a primary school teacher to the prestigious écoles françaises, serves as a mirror through which to observe the contradictions of a Brazil in transition, oscillating between the promise of modernization and the persistence of archaic structures. Situated within the tension between agency and determinism, she broke with certain social destinies – though not with tradition, remaining a teacher – by contributing decisively to the consolidation of women’s studies in Brazil. Propelled by feminist mobilizations from the 1970s onward, she leveraged her intellectual authority in political struggles, crafting a form of sociological artisanship attentive to the margins precisely because it stemmed from one. Despite advances in public policies and the recognition of their rights, the process of social inclusion of autistic children remains a challenge, considering the structural, cultural, and attitudinal barriers. In this scenario, it becomes relevant to investigate how inclusion occurs in the life territories of these children, from the perspective of psychosocial care, which values the singularities of the subjects and the collective, social, and cultural dimensions involved in care. Thus, this study aimed to identify and understand the process of social inclusion of an autistic child in their territory, considering the perspective of the child and their caregivers. The research, of a qualitative nature, is characterized as a case study, involving an autistic child and their caregivers. Data production took place over six months, using participant observation, field diary, semi-structured interviews, and creative methodologies. Data analysis was performed using ATLAS.ti software and a holistic case analysis, based on a detailed description of the child's and their family's experiences. This process included identifying central themes, organized into three axes: 1) Characterization of the Participants; 2) Daily life and social inclusion: possibilities from the territory; and 3) Barriers and challenges to social inclusion in the territory. The results show that social inclusion depends on both effective public policies and a sensitive and welcoming community network that recognizes human diversity. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the technical and economic viability, as well as the main environmental impacts, of implementing a compact anaerobic biodigester for the treatment of organic waste generated in the industrial kitchens of a company in the chemical and petrochemical sector, as an initial strategy for adopting the Zero Landfill concept. The methodology consisted of a qualitative-quantitative case study, involving waste characterization, cost analysis of the current system, comparative evaluation of technical-commercial proposals, and the qualitative identification of the proposed alternative's socio-environmental impacts. The results indicated an average generation of 277.73 kg/day of organic waste, whose current landfill management represents an annual cost exceeding BRL 100,000.00. The comparative analysis demonstrated that, while the external composting alternative proved to be economically unfeasible, the biodigestion solution (Supplier A) presented itself as advantageous, with an investment of BRL 17,000.00 and a payback period of approximately 11 months, generating savings over BRL 40,000.00 in three years. Environmentally, the proposal allows diverting 73.3 annual tons of waste from landfill, avoiding methane generation, equivalent to approximately 125 tons of CO2e per year, also identifying an estimated energy potential of 44 MWh/year, in addition to eliminating external transport emissions. This study critically investigated textile waste management and sustainable consumption, analyzing the systemic failures of fast fashion and exploring strategies for the transition toward the Circular Economy (CE). The methodology adopted was a systematic literature review, which allowed for the identification of the intrinsic challenges of the linear model, the understanding of the evolution of the consumer's role, and the analysis of the opportunities and technological barriers for CE implementation, in addition to discussing the interdependence of integrated solutions. The research demonstrated that the logic of perceived obsolescence and the externalization of environmental costs drives a systemic crisis. However, the study also revealed growing consumer awareness and the transformative potential of the CE, enabled through innovations in design, new business models (such as rental and resale), and advanced technologies for fiber-to-fiber recycling, automated sorting, and digital traceability. In the Brazilian context, the implementation of these solutions faces striking challenges, including deficient recycling infrastructure, regulatory gaps in Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and socioeconomic barriers that limit access to sustainable fashion among lower-income classes. The group aimed to address the desires and needs of autistic university students and to promote a space for social interaction, experimentation, and care. The research method consists of a Critical Practice Analysis, constructed from systematic records of the meetings and grounded in the framework of the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method (MTOD). Sixteen students from different programs participated in the initiative, seven of whom attended consistently. The activities were collaboratively defined and guided by the needs and desires expressed by the participants themselves. Three experiences were highlighted: the Collective Body Map, the Theatre of the Oppressed activity, and self-massage using sensory balls, all of which were described in the intervention process. The analysis revealed that the group’s facilitation emphasized sensitive listening, collective construction, and openness to the unpredictable, valuing students’ singularities and the production of meaning in the here-and-now. The activities functioned as devices for reflection, strengthening bonds, and fostering engagement, configuring a space of care and health promotion within the university context. It is concluded that the practice examined contributes to the advancement of occupational therapy actions directed toward this population, offering support for policies and interventions that promote inclusion and student retention.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Inteligência ou status social? Developmental Psychology has explored, for example, when children begin to show selective trust in potential informants. Recent evidence has demonstrated that from an early age (3 years), children are already capable of selecting whom to trust in novel learning situations. To discern between good and bad informants, children use various criteria and social cues (e.g., level of knowledge and group membership). The present study aimed to contribute in this direction by investigating the effect of the epistemic (accumulated knowledge/intelligence) and social (leadership and/or prestige) status of informants on the selective trust of school-aged children. Thirty-two children participated in the present study, from two age groups: 6 years (Mage = 6 years and 8 months) and 8 years (Mage = 8 years and 8 months). Participants were administered a selective trust task. During familiarization, two characters were introduced: one was a class leader and the other was very intelligent. Next, the child was asked to indicate which of the two they would like to have as a friend. The vast majority of participants (80%) chose the intelligent character. During the test phase (6 trials), participants watched scenes involving problem situations, half of which required factual knowledge and the other half social competence. In each scene (trial), both characters offered distinct answers/solutions, and the participant had to indicate which of the two informants was correct. Results suggest a greater preference among 8-year-old children (Mdn = 6.0) for the intelligent informant in the factual knowledge trials, compared to 6-year-old children (Mdn = 5.0). For the social competence trials, however, no age effect was found. In addition, for this type of trial, there was no clear preference for either informant. In summary, the data suggest that epistemic status (intelligence) is an important social cue that influences selective trust in Brazilian children, especially those in later school age (8–9 years) and in situations that require knowledge. Over the years, there have been several developments in the field of remote sensing and the application of this practice in conjunction with the use of artificial intelligence (machine learning, deep learning), allowing mappings to be carried out remotely and efficiently. Combining these factors, the delineation of wetlands has been conducted in research using different methods. This Systematic Literature Review aimed to compare these methodologies and define which would be the most suitable for the southwestern region of São Paulo, in addition to discussing the role of artificial intelligence in these processes. A significant amount of food is wasted every year, and this has become a priority issue in international agendas, given its environmental, social, and economic impacts. This process occurs in several phases of the food chain. Food waste in the consumer food service sector is particularly significant. This sector is an important potential source of solid residue, demanding special attention due to the environmental, social, and economic impacts observed in this process. The development of practical actions to reduce food waste in public services can result in not only budget savings but also environmental benefits. In this context, this paper identified the main reasons that lead diners at a university restaurant commit food waste and examines the relationships among these reasons.. After a Literature Review, it was able to identify some reasons that drive customers to food waste. Subsequently, an analytical framework was proposed to measure these drivers empirically. During field data collection, research was conducted with 421 students who use the cafeteria at Mato Grosso Federal University. The techniques of data analysis chosen were Structural Equation Modeling and the Kruskal-Wallis Test. Results confirmed 12 out of 19 tested hypothesis. Statistical analyses confirm twelve of the nineteen hypotheses tested in research on the topic. The results revealed that food waste in university restaurants does not stem from isolated factors, but from a complex network of factorswhethr related to the diner, the environment, or the food. Intrinsic human factors such as behavioral intention and self-awareness showed a more direct relationship with wasted food waste than factors related to the environment or the food. In this context, the main objective of this study is to conduct an initial exploratory assessment of solid waste management in the municipality of Atibaia. The research examined two settings: the practices of waste generation and management within a residential complex, and the dynamics involved in the operations of a local recycling cooperative. To this end, the study adopted a mixed quantitative–qualitative approach to preliminarily explore the urban solid waste context in the city. Based on data analysis, structural, operational, and occupational safety challenges were identified within the cooperative, in addition to difficulties related to residents’ engagement in proper waste separation and disposal. The study also found a lack of continuous environmental education initiatives and communication among the involved actors, which poses risks to the efficiency of the recycling process. Drawing from this diagnosis, a guide was developed proposing improvements aimed at community awareness and the implementation of more efficient waste management measures. La investigación busca comprender cómo la práctica pedagógica del profesorado regional de filosofía facilita el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico, alineándose con las referencias marxistas que enfatizan la educación como práctica transformadora. La metodología empleada en el estudio de caso consiste en la elaboración de una guía pedagógica dirigida al profesorado de Filosofía de Educación Media, como propuesta de intervención específica. Esta guía busca ofrecer apoyo teórico y metodológico que favorezcan la labor docente, con el fin de potenciar la reflexión crítica, la emancipación intelectual y la relación entre el conocimiento filosófico y la realidad social del alumnado. Se concluye que la enseñanza de la Filosofía, basada en prácticas pedagógicas críticas, puede ser un instrumento esencial para la formación de sujetos autónomos y conscientes, capaces de comprender y transformar la realidad en la que se insertan.
