Afetos atípicos

Abstract

Based on an experience of living for three months in a community for people with intellectual disabilities, the present work is composed of reflections and questions about the way individuals put themselves in the world, more specifically with regard to their use of masks to hide themselves and expose just what they want. Such questioning arose from the perception, taken by the author based on the coexistence and relationships built with people with atypical development in the community, that they have less masks than those with typical development. To explore this issue, the concept of persona is used, as formulated by the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung. As a result of the research, questions are presented about the way we relate in society.
