Resumo

Brazil is increasingly gaining global prominence in the generation of bioenergy, mainly in the production of ethanol, some residues result from this process, such as vinasse. Because it contains high levels of organic matter, vinasse has been used as fertigation for plant cultivation. However, its application has a high polluting potential when handled incorrectly and can contaminate the soil, surface and groundwater. This study carried out a comparative study of the environmental impact of the application of vinasse in the soil. The study analyzed the evolution of vinasse biodegradation using respirometry and the environmental toxicity levels of in natura and concentrated vinasse to L. sativa. It also verified the soil chemical changes influenced by biofertigation and used Principal Component Analysis in the statistics. Evidence was observed that vinasse biodegradation works well with both raw and concentrated vinasse. In addition, as a result of ecotoxicity, vinasse, when properly applied to the soil, does not harm L. sativa and improves initial plant growth.
