O patrimônio histórico como revelação da resistência em meio ao processo ao processo de transformação do espaço: o caso da Capela Senhor do Bonfim

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the importance of historical heritage as an object of resistance in the midst of the process of space transformation, having as empirical study the Chapel of the Lord Bom Jesus do Bonfim - Chapel of John of Camargo, in the city of Sorocaba, which In its 116 years of existence, it has resisted as strong urban transformations through its historicity, religiosity and meanings present in the place. To this end, try to understand the concept of historical heritage, a history of training of the Chapel and the importance of this space at both the cultural and political level as it acts as a core of resistance of black culture. The history of the Chapel permeates the very life course of the Chapel's creator, João de Camargo, as well as the Chapel's own occupation over time and the city's entire spatial history and its transformations. From the data collection and literature review, it is understood that the chapel acts as an important nucleus of resistance ahead in the transformations of space, constituting a place of encounter with the divine and the sacred, which resists time and exhibitions in space so as to transcend beyond mere building material, offer devotees and frequent resources of belief and faith. This monument also enters the history, life and daily life of Sorocaba, being of paramount importance its preservation and longevity.
