Resumo

Artificial intelligence is increasingly present in our daily lives, an example of artificial intelligence that is popularly used is OpenAI's ChatGPT, which is often used as a research tool and learning aid. One of the fields where this need may manifest itself is for materials engineering students, who seek to expand their knowledge or specific doubts. Therefore, ChatGPT must be tested to see the possibility of its use as a learning aid tool. The analysis carried out consisted of ChatGPT3.5, which is the free version, and ChatGPT4.0, which is the paid version, both from the company OpenAI. These versions can be used as tools to aid in learning materials engineering, both its free version, which stands out for its free access, making its use comprehensive and democratic in nature, and its pada version, which has a greater capacity to provide answers correct, with a 40% chance of producing answers with greater factual accuracy, according to the company itself, in addition to the ChatGPT4.0 version it provides exclusive tools. So in the first stage, ChatGPT will have its two versions compared and tested with general knowledge questions on materials engineering. The questions focus on basic and intermediate materials engineering content, being objective questions that do not require great interpretation and logic skills. In addition, some of the features made available by ChatGPT4.0 will be tested, features that are not present in its free version. ChatGPT after testing can be considered an important tool to aid learning. Both versions had a good result with a high degree of assertiveness, and with new updates they tend to become even more reliable and assertive. However, like any tool, other sources of information must be used together and a critical analysis of the answers presented must be carried out in order to avoid errors.
