Abstract

The evolution of civilization throughout history has been marked by continuous processes of transformation. The course of society, throughout history, has been intrinsically intertwined with industrial evolution, a phenomenon that has unfolded in different eras, each characterized by remarkable advances. In this context, the convergence between technology, innovation and the fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0, emerges as a crucial point in the trajectory of humanity, redrawing the boundaries of the possible and profoundly influencing the conduct of business. In this context, it was analyzed the training in engineering and what skills are developed throughout the course so that the graduate is able to enter the job market and solve the problems that are propostos.Com a verification of the pedagogical project of the Materials Engineering course at UFSCar, analyzing the companies created by graduates of the course and also through a bibliographic research, in which it sought to analyze sources, such as books, articles, theses and other relevant documents. In which the main objective is to acquire an understanding of the current state of knowledge on the topic in question and to build a relationship between engineering training and innovation. As engineers absorb technical knowledge, they also internalize the art of thinking critically, generating a force that drives innovative processes in an increasingly dynamic world. In this sense, the study is justified by information that can help in the understanding that surrounds the training of the engineer, and in its innovative role in recent times.
