A violência letal intencional no município de Luziânia – GO: conflitos interpessoais e a reciprocidade de vingança
Abstract
Luziânia is a municipality in the state of Goiás, located in one of the most violent regions of the country, according to several national databases. This work aims to understand the lethal violence that affects the municipality. Since violence, especially lethal violence, occurs in the interactions among subjects, it was studied the relations and interconnections of reciprocity that produce violent death. Thus, we’ve focused on the perceptions that the Luzianian population attributes to lethal violence, especially crimes as homicides and robberies. Therefore, it was intended to describe the social causes and contexts in which these crimes occur, in addition to identifying the predominant social groups that make up these rates. To that end, we’ve investigated - through field research, news reports and interviews with residents, police officers, public and private officials connected to this topic - issues related to lethal violence, involving speeches and narratives about the conflicts that lead to death. Representations attributed to lethal violence are also prominent, especially those shared in digital media such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Consequently, it was concluded that these conflicts, which are generated in the interpersonal relations among the subjects, are solved through physical violence with the intention of extinguishing the life of the adversary, which contributes to spirals of revenge and high rates of violent death.
