Influências das instâncias ideais na constituição psíquica infantil e formação de atletas de alto rendimento: estudo de caso do episódio “The Miscast Champion” a partir da teoria freudiana

Abstract

This study approaches the influences of ideal instances on the child's psychic constitution in the formation of high performance athletes. Based on psychoanalytic theoretical assumptions, the work search illustrate through the case study of Michael Bentt the relevance of narcissism, the formation of ideas and the imperative of the superego for the psychic economy of the ex-boxer. The aim of this study is to investigate how the imaginary of athletes' self is influenced from their life story, beyond the competitive sporting environment, and in the articulation with the concepts of narcissism, ego ideal and superego. This study is psychobiographic, qualitative and case study based on psychoanalytic theoretical models. The investigation of this phenomenon is based on the analysis of the episode “The Miscast Champion” of the documentary series Losers. The monograph is divided into two parts: literature review and empirical study. In the literature review, the concepts of narcissism, ego ideal and superego and issues related to sport and society are presented. In the second part, the empirical study, the case study of the episode and its analysis based on the theoretical models previously worked are presented.
