Tradução audiovisual da língua de sinais em obras cinematográficas: uma análise do processo tradutório documentário "Meu corpo é político"
Abstract
Since the progress of accessibility policies promotion such as Law 10,098/00, Decree
5,626/05 and the Brazilian Inclusion Law n. 13.146/2015 and Normative Instructions by National Film Agency (ANCINE) aiming at encouraging the production of audiovisual Brazilian works with accessibility resources like subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, audio description and Libras Windows screen inset, research in the area of audiovisual translation of sign language have been growing significantly in Brazil. This investigation begins after the author's 2019 to 2020 analysis, who has found many obstacles in having access to these materials and also, has come across many variations of its application on screen. The objective of this study was to investigate the translation strategies and processes used in the documentary “Meu Corpo é Político” by Alice Riff, which, in the version used here, presents a proposal for positioning Libras windows different from the rules proposed by the Brazilian Association of Technical Norms (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas – ABNT) and by the Ministry of Culture through the Guide for accessible audiovisual productions. Simple self-confrontation is adopted as a methodological device, which allows the protagonist of an activity to come across, discursively, with his own doing. Allowing himself to reflect upon its own practices and choices, in addition to perceiving the temporal marks on a finished work, in a critical manner. The device, in this study, was performed in a virtual way with the two translators of the chosen work. The research has a qualitative approach and uses bakhtinian studies as the theoretical foundation of the perception of language. For the data analysis, segments of the self-confrontation were transcripted using Nascimento's (2016) proposal. This research found that the translators are very influenced by the audiovisual piece and when confronted with their past work, question their choices in may levels, and explicits that the accessibility resources are still very neglected in the field. The objectives of this research are not only to contribute to the research field but also to reflect on the translator’s practices and to document those that have already been in progress.
