Resumo
Urban green areas have remarkable relevance to the environmental quality of the urban space and to the citizens' quality of life, interfering with social and environmental issues as well as health and thermal comfort issues. The objective of this research is to identify the influence of green areas, such as parks and squares, on the thermal sensation of the inhabitants of the city of São José do Rio Preto -SP. Microclimatic data were obtained, such as air temperature, globe temperature, relative humidity, wind direction and speed at points inside and outside in 4 urban vegetated areas in the city, as well as the application of questionnaires related to the sensation of users. Microclimate information and interviews were used to calculate the PET comfort index. The 4 study areas were classified within the LCZ system. Among the results, it is noteworthy that the places that had the highest rate of users satisfied with the thermal environment were the points within the green areas, and that PET had values up to 5.9ºC lower inside the green area compared to its adjacency. The air temperature reached 3.5ºC less inside the green area. It was also observed that the Perception of the User was not always equivalent to the values of PET, and that not always more favorable values of PET are correlated with a higher percentage of green area. The parameter that most influenced user comfort was SVF, with the area with the lowest percentage of FVC having the highest percentage of thermal comfort.
