Memória Política da UFSCar: a fotografia como representação da Memória Institucional

Abstract

ABSTRACT Photography is an important source of knowledge in which a given image captured at a particular moment portrays the history and reality embedded in that specific context. In this sense, the present work aims to reflect on how the mapping and identification of photographs on paper, preserved in the representative entities of UFSCar, contribute to the preservation, safeguarding, and dissemination of the Political Memory of UFSCar. The representative entities referred to in this work are the entities of the Technical-Administrative Staff of UFSCar (SINTUFSCar), the faculty (ADUFSCar), the students (DCE Livre), and the postgraduate students (APG) of UFSCar. As specific objectives, the chosen method was to map and identify the paper photographs belonging to the representative entities of UFSCar, as well as to present photography as a document and form of representation in the construction of the institutional and political memory of UFSCar. Another specific objective was to reflect on the role of the representative entities and UMMA in the preservation, management, and strengthening of the political memory of UFSCar. The type of research chosen to carry out this work is focused on applied research, of a qualitative nature with bibliographic, exploratory, and documentary characteristics. It also stands out as research geared towards action research.The field research is based on the quantification of photos and description of general subjects related to the political memory of the University. The theoretical foundation is based on the concepts of Institutional Memory, Political Memory, Science, Technology, and Society (STS), Information, Conservation, and Preservation of the Collection.The theoretical framework is based on the concepts of Institutional Memory, Political Memory, Science, Technology, and Society (STS), Information, Conservation, and Preservation of Collections. Furthermore, renowned authors in the field of Archives and Memory Centers, as well as renowned authors in the field of science, technology, and society, are used as theoretical foundations, based on interdisciplinarity. As a result, this study aims to present a conceptual reflection on the Political Memory of UFSCar (Federal University of São Carlos) through a photographic lens, as well as to describe the mapping of the photographic collection related to Political Memory held by the representative entities: SINTUFSCar, ADUFSCAR, DCE Livre, and APG. This work also aims to produce a preliminary inventory of photographic collections by a representative entity of the University, in order to support the Multidisciplinary Unit of Memory and Historical Archives in the identification and management plan of the UFSCar photographic collection.
