Resumo

Fish farming in Brazil has undergone important transformations, and many expectations are expected in relation to this activity, there are several advantages that the country has, but it is essential to discuss the sustainable principles and prerequisites that need to be included in all small-scale activity processes, with a special focus on tilapia farming. This carefully crafted study aims to empower local producers by offering practical insights to optimize efficiency and maximize profitability. Exploring several essential topics, such as the appropriate choice of species, water management practices, nutrition guidance and implementation of good cultivation practices, the guide seeks not only to increase production, but also to strengthen economic sustainability and contribute to food security of the community. The preference for tilapia is highlighted due to its remarkable adaptability and rapid growth, characteristics crucial for success in small-scale fish farming. This approach aims to not only share knowledge, but also promote practices that drive economic prosperity and food self-sufficiency among small, local producers. It is worth mentioning that the preparation of this review was based on bibliographic material specialized in fish farming, thus guaranteeing the quality and technical support of the content presented. In short, this initiative seeks to offer practical and sustainable support to local producers, aiming for economic development and food security in the region.
