Apropriação da análise de patentes pela atividade de inteligência competitiva tecnológica

Abstract

Competitive and Technological Intelligence (CTI) emerges as a methodological alternative for technology-based ventures, encompassing the collection, processing, and automated analysis of technological information from patent documents. This approach aims to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate threats in the competitive environment, effectively directing strategies. The objective of this research was to investigate the use of patent analysis by Competitive and Technological Intelligence in the context of the competitive processes of technology-based ventures. The methodology adopted is classified as a metric, exploratory, and quantitative-qualitative study, using categorical content analysis and bibliometric techniques. The sample consisted of 90 article records indexed in the Web of Science database, representing the intersection between the topics of patent analysis (6,326 documents) and competitive/technological intelligence (4,046 documents). The results achieved include a set of indicators: 1) characterization of the analyzed sample; 2) indicators on patent analysis; 3) indicators on Technological Competitive Intelligence; 4] analysis of the characteristics of patent analysis appropriation by Competitive and Technological Intelligence, including insights into trends and patterns. The conclusion is that patent analysis plays an essential role in supporting Competitive and Technological Intelligence, providing strategic information for innovation and decision-making in technology-based companies. However, the limited intersection between studies on both topics indicates the need for greater methodological integration and in-depth research on the topic. It is recommended that future research explore new analytical approaches and expand the practical application of these concepts across different industrial sectors, promoting better use of patent data in developing competitive strategies.
