Resumo
Integrated photonics has established itself as an important technology for applications in optical communications, sensing, and signal processing, enabling device miniaturization and reduced energy consumption. In this context, efficient coupling between optical fibers and integrated waveguides is fundamental to the performance of photonic circuits. This work presents the design and optimization of SU-8 taper optical couplers, a low-cost polymer compatible with conventional microfabrication processes. Different transition geometries, polarization modes, and structural dimensions were analyzed with the aim of maximizing the coupling efficiency between optical fiber and waveguide. The results indicated efficiencies above 88% and losses below 0.6 dB for the best configurations, demonstrating the potential of SU-8 for applications in low-cost integrated photonic devices.
