Resumo
Given the indicators of urban growth, the conditions needed to achieve a better quality of life are the subject of interest in urban planning theory and practice, both for academic reflection and for public administrations. In view of this relevance, various urban planning experiments have been developed over the years to discuss the well-being of urban life and, among the different propositional currents, the idea-concept of Neighborhood Unity (UV), which will be addressed in this monograph. Therefore, the main objective of this work was to study the potential and limitations of the constitution of Neighborhood Units. As a case study, this work investigated an urban sector of the city of Brasília - Federal District, in this case, Asa Norte. This choice was made because of some of the characteristics of Brasília's housing sectors, configured in the North and South Wings, which have the potential to assimilate the requirements of this idea-concept. The urban conditions selected as criteria for analysis were the morphology, land use and urban mobility of the Superblocks. The analyses carried out indicated that the Superblocks have a lot of potential to constitute a Neighborhood Unit (NVU), although there are aspects that need to be better qualified.
