Abstract

Objective: to develop and validate an educational material for children and adolescents with lower urinary tract disorders using clean intermittent urinary catheterization and their caregivers. Methods: A two-step methodological study for the development and validation of educational material for children and adolescents using clean intermittent urinary catheterization and their caregivers. Results: In the first stage, the material was built with the plot “The incredible journey of Dona Xiga and Seu Tino”, with two characters called “Dona Xiga” and “Seu Tino” who tell the walk through the urinary and intestinal system. In the second stage of material validation, six judges participated in the study with a total of 97.6% agreement on the items evaluated. Conclusion: This material can contribute to clinical practice and provide the catheter user and their caregiver with educational improvement for experience with the procedure, rehabilitation care at home and continuous assessment by nurses.
