Resumo
In the field of light-matter interaction using a dense cloud of cold atoms, this project aims to apply diffusing wave spectroscopy (DWS) techniques based on the coupled dipole model to understand the relevance of short-range terms in the dipolar interatomic interaction of light scattering. In this project, we will study it through a numerical simulation using MATLAB software, starting from the creation of the cold atoms sample and analyzing the first-order temporal autocorrelation function. The simulation will analyze the dependence on the optical depth and the spatial density. This will allow to understand the phenomena associated with light scattering in dense samples, and may be applied in a future experiment. The results indicate that, for regimes of low optical depth and low spatial density, single scattering is dominant, while for high densities and optical depths, collective effects become more relevant. The work concludes that the DWS technique can provide important information about light scattering in a cloud of cold atoms, highlighting the need for further studies to explore its effects in regimes of high spatial density and high optical depth.
