Resumo

Neoliberalism has intensified precarious relations evidenced in the uberization of work. During the pandemic, this trend has exacerbated inequalities. It is important to analyze the psychological impacts of these new working relationships, especially among men over the age of 30. The aim of this study was to understand the occupational trajectory of app drivers and their experiences of suffering. This is a qualitative, cross-sectional and exploratory study. Four drivers took part in the study, two of whom were COOPAMA cooperative members and the other two self-employed app drivers with no connection to cooperatives. Data collection consisted of the following instruments: (a) socio-economic questionnaire; (b) semi-structured individual interview script; (c) field diary. The interview sessions were audio-recorded and transcribed in full. The research protocol was approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of São Carlos (CAAE No. 77876024.6.0000.5504). The data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The material collected was interpreted according to the theoretical framework adopted in the study.
