ABSTRACT
The growing popularity of Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the digital environment highlights the need for more critical and informed informational practices. This study aimed to analyze the reliability of digital sources related to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, based on the IFLA infographic “How to Spot Fake News” adapted to the sports context. The specific objectives included: surveying and analyzing digital sources on the subject, validating evaluation criteria, and developing an adapted infographic for practitioners. Methodologically, the research followed a qualitative and exploratory approach, employing document analysis and self-testing as primary strategies. Data were collected from specialized websites such as Gracie Magazine, Revista Tatame, and BJJ Heroes. Results revealed significant challenges, such as the absence of explicit authorship and lack of information validation. However, the adapted infographic proved to be an effective tool for empowering practitioners to critically evaluate available information, contributing to the strengthening of informational literacy and the preservation of informed sports practices. The study underscores the importance of Information Science in interdisciplinary contexts, such as sports, and paves the way for future research in other disciplines.
