Resumo

The theme of this study addresses the process of ethnic-racial belonging among black high school students in the Jardim Cruzado neighborhood, in the city of Ibaté. The purpose is to understand how these processes are shaped by their origins, family ties, territorial connections, and school experiences, as well as to examine the influence of these processes on the future projections of these young people. The research employed a biographical narrative methodology through interviews to understand the formation and occurrence of these processes. The results revealed that the process of ethnic-racial belonging among these youths is in constant development, stemming from the construction of identity, which proves to be changeable depending on the society and culture that surrounds them. The connections between the youths analyzed in this dissertation and their origins are evidently linked to the migratory history and life experiences of their parents, which influence their future projections more significantly than the youths own direct experiences. The school experiences highlight the importance of schools as spaces for social interaction among young people and reveal concerns about the effectiveness of anti-racist pathways and the curricular component "life project." Therefore, this study aims to contribute to discussions about Black youth and high school education in Brazil.
