Resumo
Parasocial relationships (PSRs) are characterized as a form of medium- to long-term media interaction in which the viewer perceives having an affective social relationship with their idol, with the idol not participating reciprocally, while parasocial interactions (PSIs) are a related form of short-term media interaction that usually precedes the parasocial bond. This systematic literature review project plans to deepen knowledge on this topic through qualitative and quantitative scientific articles on the subject from its conception in 1956 up to the present year of 2024. The objective of this project is to organize and synthesize in an explanatory text the knowledge related to parasocial relationships and interactions and, secondarily, distinct forms of media interaction and the relationships of the parasocial phenomenon with the field of creativity. In this way, articles belonging to the Google Scholar and CAFe/CAPES databases that relate to parasocial relationships within the areas of communication, creativity, and cognitive psychology will be evaluated. Although this project presents a theoretical nature, the method was previously structured to reduce biases and demonstrate the actual quality of the field studied. Finally, there is still no research specifically on this topic in Brazil, and with the lockdown and consequent increase in maladaptive media consumption with the aim ofsupplying the lack of social interactions and the consequent formation of parasocial relationships as substitutes, it is necessary to fill this gap in the local literature.
