Meninas e mulheres com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo: diagnósticos, reconhecimentos e vivências

Abstract

Since the first studies on Autism Spectrum Disorder, its low incidence in females is highlighted, and many women only receive the diagnosis in adulthood. The objective of this research is to present cases of women with Autism Spectrum Disorder at different ages and the processes and indicators that led them to the diagnosis. It was analyzed in a qualitative way, carried out by means of an online structured questionnaire. In the results, after analyzing the answers of the participants, it is noted that women face many problems in social relationships and before receiving the diagnosis, they felt lost and disoriented, forcing themselves to fit into society, triggering various problems.
