Formalização e melhoria via modelagem: um estudo em processos administrativos de secretarias de pós-graduação

Abstract

Process modeling helps identify improvements, encourages management orientation towards a process perspective, contributes to increasing and disseminating administrative knowledge, in addition to other benefits reported in the literature. This work, using the notations BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) and BPMN for GENERAL, selected and carried out the mapping 'as-is', current state, and 'to-be', future proposal, of the main processes of a post office -graduation (PPG) from units at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The theoretical foundation was obtained through an exploratory literature review. This review facilitated the gathering of current knowledge regarding process concepts, process mapping (PM), Business Process Management (BPM), BPMN, and BPMN for GERAL. In the empirical approach, a combination of methods was used. A case study was conducted to select and analyze the main processes of the unit, process modeling was used for their formalization, and structured interviews were conducted with practitioners of similar processes in presumably better conditions, specifically graduate programs (PPGs) rated 6 or 7 by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). The thorough analysis of documents and the researcher's experience with the routines of the case study facilitated the original formulation of the 'as-is' processes. Various consultations and comparison with the literature enabled the conception of the initial 'to-be' proposal. The subsequent submission of this proposal to other practitioners, as specified, allowed for its improvement. Consequently, a modeled and tested version of each selected process was obtained, which represents the main contribution of this work. This is initially limited to the studied PPGs, but it can serve as a starting point for future investigations with other methodological approaches.
