Resumo
This Undergraduate Thesis investigates Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s critique of the concept of ideology in Anti-Oedipus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia. This critique, however, does not seek to ignore the problems that the concept aims to solve, but to reformulate them based on new theoretical frameworks, especially psychoanalysis. The authors argue that the integration of desire into capitalism occurs at the level of economic flows, and not of ideology. Thus, desire is directly invested in capitalist society, without the need for any ideological mediation. In this sense, Anti-Oedipus not only subverts Marxism, but radicalizes it, identifying in the concepts of desire and fetishism a more adequate explanation for the problems of “false consciousness” and “voluntary servitude” than that traditionally offered by the concept of ideology.
