Resumo
This research aimed to investigate the subjective experiences of Black women at the university, as well as the challenges they faced and the impact of these challenges on their trajectories within the UFSCar university context—considering the dimensions of race, gender, and class through the lens of dialectical hermeneutics. Furthermore, the study analyzed the dialectical relationship between vulnerability and emancipation in these experiences, highlighting how social markers intersected and influenced these women's persistence and identity within the academic setting. To this end, the study addressed the power relations structuring this environment and the possibilities for transformation, emphasizing strategies of resistance, identity affirmation, and the maintenance of academic trajectories adopted by undergraduate students, *stricto sensu* graduate students, and Black faculty members. The study employed a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews with Black women affiliated with UFSCar across three categories: undergraduates, *stricto sensu* graduate students, and tenured faculty. Data analysis was grounded in dialectical hermeneutics, enabling the interpretation of narratives by framing them within the interplay of individual discourses, social contexts, and historical processes. Finally, the study sought to contribute to discussions on race and gender in academia while maintaining scientific rigor, respecting the participants' subjective and unique experiences, and providing insights to help build a more egalitarian and emancipatory academic environment for Black women.
