Resumo
This monograph describes an experimental evaluation of sensitivity in the use of the Function Acquisition Speed Test (FAST) for learning history with collective health stimuli in 42 Brazilian university students. The experimental stimuli were images taken from public communications throughout Brazil and written words with positive and negative meanings in terms of health. The participants completed two blocks of trials that were considered stereotype-consistent linked to the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the inconsistent block that went in the opposite direction of these guidelines. The objectives were to verify whether the FAST would be sensitive enough to measure the discrimination effect based on the participants' learning with stimuli related to collective and individual health and whether these results would correlate with the self-report measures collected through an online form, the collections in this study were also carried out at a distance. The results showed that 24 (57%) of the participants had faster learning rates in the stereotype-consistent block linked to WHO recommendations compared to the inconsistent blocks. The data indicate that the procedure is sensitive enough to quantify relationships between stimuli related to health care, the results of the self-report measures, however they were not predictive of the performance of the participants in the experimental task, the possible intervening variables are pointed out.
