Abstract

This research aims to present an annotated translation of the booklet “Program for the prevention and confrontation of sexual harassment within federal public agencies and foundations” into Libras. The material was developed by the Brazilian Federal Attorney General’s Office and disseminates, for managers of federal public institutions and locations and companies that have contracts with the public service, actions to be taken in cases such as sexual violence and harassment and crimes that discriminate against sexual dignity. The theoretical framework adopted is the Bakhtinian perspective and studies on translation and interpretation of sign language (ETILS). Through the description of the translation choices and strategies from the Portuguese language in written and oral form to Libras in gesture-visual form, annotated translation is explored as an academic genre in the training process of Libras-Portuguese translators and interpreters. Given the complexity of the translation work and the absence, at times, of specific sign-terms, the vulnerability that still exists in the deaf community in relation to basic information on the subject, such as identifying the crime, reporting it and preventing it, becomes evident.
