In line with this development, the search for cost and environmental impact reduction has become one of the industry's goals. In this context, ash from recovery boilers stands out due to its high generation and the presence of compounds essential to the process, such as sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) and sodium sulfate (Na2SO4). In addition to the salts of interest, ash is also composed of non-processable elements (NPEs), such as chloride (Cl-) and potassium (K+), which represent one of the biggest bottlenecks for the industry, since accumulation within the circuit leads to scale, corrosion and, consequently, changes in adequate operating conditions and reduced production efficiency. To reduce the concentration of NPEs and, simultaneously, ensure satisfactory results for the recovery of sodium salts, leaching or crystallization techniques are used to treat ash. Using electrolyte modeling in the Aspen Plus 2010 process simulator, this study analyzed the purity of the crystals obtained and the adhesion temperature of the deposits at the end of the treatments mentioned above, with the evaluated variables being the concentration of solids (1.1; 1.3, and 1.5), water temperature (35°C and 75°C), ash temperature (90°C and 120°C) and system pressure (0.3 bar and 1 bar). In the leaching process, the optimal operating conditions resulted in the recovery of 92.5% of Na2SO4, 83.2% of Na2CO3, and a sticky temperature in the range of 800 to 850°C. For crystallization, the recovery of sodium sulfate was around 89.7%, in the range of 53.7 to 77.3% for sodium carbonate and a sticky temperature between 750 and 850°C. To face this challenge, this study proposes a didactic sequence that integrates Modern and Contemporary Physics into the school curriculum, using History and Philosophy of Science as central tools in the teaching-learning process. The didactic sequence follows the Three Pedagogical Moments methodology, promoting the historical contextualization of content and highlighting how scientific discoveries were shaped by social and cultural factors. The proposal was developed with the aim of arousing students' interest, encouraging critical thinking and encouraging their active participation in the learning process. Gamification has emerged as a promising approach to enhance service CX by delivering game-like experiences that foster customer engagement and value creation. However, gamification is still an emerging topic within service research, and future efforts are needed to broaden the understanding of its processes, mechanisms, and impacts on service CX. In addition, there is a lack of evidence supporting the effective integration of gamification and service design (SD), emphasizing the need for methodologies to bridge this gap since it can lead to missed opportunities for optimizing service innovation and CX. This thesis addresses these research gaps by investigating how gamification can enhance service CX across the customer journey and presenting a method that integrates gamification and SD to enhance CX in service contexts. To achieve this, the research is structured into three stages: (1) mapping key concepts in service CX research to establish a theoretical foundation, (2) developing a conceptual model for enhanced CX through gamification across the service customer journey, and (3) proposing and assessing a practical method to design gamified service experiences focusing on enhancing CX. Results are presented in three articles. Article I, Customer Experience Research: Intellectual Structure and Future Research Opportunities, integrates key concepts and current service CX research through a bibliometric review. Article II – Gamification in the Customer Journey: A Conceptual Model and Future Research Opportunities, conceptually explores how gamification can be structured and applied across different customer journey stages to enhance service CX by employing a systematic literature review. Article III – ServiceGameX: a method for designing service gamified experiences, presents a method integrating gamification and service design (SD) to create gamified service experiences focusing on enhancing service CX, which was applied in a real-world scenario. These studies contribute to theoretical advancements in research by (i) developing a conceptual framework that integrates service CX literature, (ii) presenting a conceptual model for gamification in the service customer journey, and (iii) introducing the ServiceGameX method, which integrates SD and gamification for designing gamified experiences focusing on enhancing service CX. This thesis also provides insights for managers and designers interested in enhancing CX through gamification. This study uses genomic data to present the first estimated phylogeny for the genus Arthrocereus. Arthrocereus comprises five species and three subspecies, predominantly occurring in Campos Rupestres. The hypotheses for this work included the monophyly of the genus Arthrocereus, its species and subspecies, and the sharing of a common ancestor between Arthrocereus and the genera Harrisia and Echinopsis. Six phylogenetic trees were obtained at the end, with datasets separated into genetic data from exons, on-target regions captured by probes that retrieved 591 regions of interest, and flanking regions, exons, introns, and intergenic regions. The results confirmed that the genus Arthrocereus is monophyletic. However, there are still inconsistencies regarding the sister groups of the genus, particularly its relationship with the genus Harrisia. The relationship among the species A. melanurus subsp. magnus, A. glaziovii, A. rondonianus, A. melanurus subsp. odorus, and A. grandiflorus was recovered with low support and extremely short branches, which may result from incomplete lineage sorting, hybridization, or rapid speciation, causing incongruence among gene trees. When it comes to materials for the structure of such panels, important requirements must be achieved in order to guarantee the correct operation of these components. In addition to the basic structural requirements, the panels must withstand adverse and cyclical weathering conditions, as well as being commercially viable and technically possible to manufacture. With this in mind, this study used the Ashby Method to guide the Material Selection process for medium voltage switchgear enclosures, including the use of merit indexes and important considerations about the manufacturing processes for these items. Based on a literature search, the standards that must be respected for this purpose were surveyed, along with materials that are already used in such applications, including potential candidates for total or partial replacement. Ansys Granta Edupack 2020 was used as a computational tool. Caiçara communities are part of the group of traditional Brazilian communities; this social group sustainably obtains the resources necessary for their existence from the land and sea. In addition, they have a strong affinity with music and dance through Fandango and with other cultural activities such as crafts and typical foods of the community. This research aimed to understand the influence of schooling and political training of Caiçara leaders in the process of struggle for land in the municipality of Iguape-SP. The research was based on Historical-Dialectical Materialism (HDM), through the contradiction of Marxist dialectics, and a qualitative reflection was used. The methodologies used were bibliographical research, documentary research, and an empirical study was carried out through semi-structured interviews with seven participants, five of whom were leaders and two were members of the Caiçara community. The results demonstrate, through the analysis of the interviews, the contributions of basic education and higher education in the lives of the leaders, as well as how this influenced the territorial struggles and the empowerment of the rights of the community and its members, despite the closure of the only and last rural Caiçara school in the Juréia-Itatins Ecological Station. However, they recognize that in basic education, the school, through its teachers, did not address the issue of Caiçara identity and cultural activities. This study analyzes the bidding process for warehousing service providers in a multinational healthcare company located in São Paulo. The research was conducted through interviews with seven professionals from different areas: procurement, logistics and operations, and safety, all of whom participate in the company's bidding process. This study aims to categorize the main criteria required during the supplier selection bidding process, identifying strategies, advantages, and challenges. It also seeks to explore the bidding process specifically for companies in the healthcare sector. By comparing the case with the literature, it was observed that even when employing different supplier selection methodologies, the criteria evaluated, and the strategies adopted by the company in the case are similar. Among these, weeds are particularly notable, and currently, climbing species have caused significant losses in production and increased operational costs. A promising conservation agriculture technique is the ecological mowing management with brachiarias (Urochloa spp.) as a cover crop in citrus orchards, with equipment called ecological mower that creates a mulch layer around the citrus plants, potentially suppressing susceptible weeds. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate how brachiaria mulch can influence the emergence of endemic climbing weeds in citrus orchards. In response to this challenge, Fifth Generation Networks (5G) have been standardized and globally deployed, incorporating high-frequency millimeter-wave links to meet the escalating demands for data transfer speeds. 5G signifies the fifth generation of wireless technology, distinguished by its enhanced data speeds, reduced latency, and expanded capacity in comparison to earlier iterations. This advancement holds the potential to transform communication, facilitating the deployment of cutting-edge applications like autonomous vehicles, augmented reality, and seamless Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity. Its extensive implementation is poised to revolutionize various industries and bolster connectivity within our increasingly digitalized environment. However, the existing management approach for 5G networks is reactive, relying on user devices to calculate network parameters, which are then periodically transmitted to base stations. This reactive methodology introduces delays and network slowdowns, potentially jeopardizing the timely fulfillment of operational requirements. In the realm of 5G networks, the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) plays a pivotal role in adjusting modulation and coding schemes based on channel conditions, ensuring optimal data transfer rates and network performance. Recent research focuses on improving CQI estimation in 5G networks using machine learning. In this field, loss functions play a vital role, serving as a guide for training models and optimizing their performance. Two commonly used loss functions are Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). Roughly speaking, MSE put more weight on outliers, MAE on the majority. Here, we argue that the Huber loss function is more suitable for CQI prediction, since it combines the benefits of both MSE and MAE. To achieve this, the Huber loss transitions smoothly between MSE and MAE, controlled by a user-defined hyperparameter called delta. However, finding the right balance between sensitivity to small errors (MAE) and robustness to outliers (MSE) by manually choosing the optimal delta is challenging. To address this issue, we propose a novel loss function, named Residual-based Adaptive Huber Loss (RAHL). In RAHL, a learnable residual is added to the delta, enabling the model to adapt based on the distribution of errors in the data. Our approach effectively balances model robustness against outliers while preserving inlier data precision. The widely recognized Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model is employed in conjunction with RAHL, showcasing significantly improved results compared to the aforementioned loss functions. The RAHL has enhanced prediction accuracy for datasets A, B, and C by approximately 11%, 14%, and 0.3%, respectively, compared to the Huber loss function; by 22%, 23%, and 17%, respectively, compared to the MSE loss function; and by 5%, 10%, and 5%, respectively, compared to the MAE loss function. Among these processes, competition is fundamental to maintaining biodiversity. According to the Coexistence Theory, for two or more species to coexist, it is necessary to follow the criterion of invasibility, when they are capable of invading a community and increasing their abundance when rare. Thus, one of the mechanisms that can favor coexistence is to make intraspecific competition greater than interspecific competition, so that each population self-regulates before competitively excluding the other. However, when the invasibility criterion is not met, species can co-occur in the long term when they have no ecological differences (equivalent) and their populations are simply affected by neutral demographic processes (independent of the species). Dragonfly nymphs are organisms that are potentially affected by neutral processes, as they are opportunistic generalists, with similar sit-and-wait strategies. Thus, to test the ecological equivalence of dragonfly nymphs, competition experiments were conducted in microcosms under controlled conditions. Our experiments manipulated total abundances in monocultures and relative abundances in pairs of species of Libellulidae and Coenagrionidae, with the aim of quantifying the intra- and interspecific per capita effect on mortality, spatial distribution, number of emergences and ecdyses. The results revealed that there is strong intraspecific competition compared to interspecific competition, leading to higher mortality in situations with higher intraspecific densities for both species. Such productivity depends on the management of rural resources and good field practices, such as the correct identification of plagues. The use of dichotomous taxonomic keys is one of the classic methods, but it is considered difficult for the general public. Digital technology has allowed the advent of new tools, such as multiple-entry identification keys. Therefore, the objective of this work was to develop a multiple-entry identification key for the main plagues associated with soybean cultivation. The plagues (entities), characters (features) and character states (states) were the base for the data matrix incorporated into the Australian software Lucid v. 3.3® that was used to develop the key. The photographs were provided from the personal collection of the author or provided by external researchers, with authorization. The multiple-entry identification key developed in this work has 44 arthropods-plagues, 72 characters and 201 character states. The characters comprise questions with simplified language, and the character states a diversity of eligible alternatives. In addition to the 220 photographs, additional information about each plague was added, such as scientific name, popular name, description of the young and adult phases, damage caused, etc. A tutorial in Portuguese is presented at the beginning of the key, with an explanation of the functions of the shortcut bar and the four available windows. Since the multiple-entry key developed is a non-linear and flexible tool, the user can select the characters and character states (features chosen) in any sequence. Plagues with incompatible characteristics are discarded (entities discarded) until identification is obtained (entities remaining). The investigation identified the limits and challenges of this position, based on the study of scientific productions on school management. The central question of the research was to understand the responsibilities of the pedagogical guidance position to verify its specificities, considering that it combines functions traditionally performed by educational guidance and pedagogical coordination. To understand the position of pedagogical guidance, we conducted a literature review and did a comparative study of the duties of positions with similar functions in the education departments of Sorocaba and São Paulo - city. The research, based on the model proposed by Lambert and Cooper (2000), seeks to understand the structure of the supply network and how and which business processes and management components considered by the model are relevant and impact companies of this size in Brazil. Observing competition in networks, research is necessary to understand the structures and business processes conducted, as well as the relationships between participants in these supply chains. The research has a theoretical basis and interviews with leaders of two companies from different segments: civil construction and industrial machining, with analyzes based on benchmarking and comparison of information. It is possible to say that the model applies to the routine of small companies, with business processes still being structured. In this sense, it doesn't have to be restricted to parks and natural areas; it can be incorporated into the school environment through projects and actions that bring more of nature into students' daily lives. In the city of Sorocaba, the natural parks have a project subsidised by the Department of the Environment, Animal Protection and Welfare (SEMA) that seeks to bring park activities closer to the municipality's schools. Entitled ‘Park goes to School’, this initiative aims to bring the environmental richness and agendas of each park to the school environment, creating a bridge between nature and the learning process. This project opens up a range of activities, visits and workshops that replicate the typical experiences of municipal parks in the school environment, while encouraging the use of green areas. The ‘Rio goes to School’ project is part of the programme of environmental education activities promoted by the Água Vermelha Park (PAV), in partnership with the Autonomous Water and Sewage Service (SAAE). Its aim is to sensitise the school community to environmental conservation, addressing issues such as biodiversity, ecological interactions, sanitation and the threats to the Sorocaba River in primary schools, with an emphasis on the importance of conserving water resources and their impact on the the lives of students and the community. The research included an evaluation of the editions of the project developed in the second half of 2023, with the aim of identifying ‘evidence of learning’ and assessing the effectiveness of the pedagogical strategies employed, with a view to subsidising methodological adjustments. In the first chapter, we will present properties of a few algebraic structures, starting with the proof of Frobenius theorem. After that, we will define simple rings, central algebras, multiplication algebras, automorphisms of simple central algebras and maximal subfields, in order to finish with the proofs of the Skolem-Noether and Wedderburn theorems. In the second chapter, we will focus on Wedderburn’s structure theory. We will define the concepts of nilpotent ideals, prime and semiprime rings, unitization of algebras, regular representation, group algebras, matrix units, idempotents and minimal ideals, in order to prove Maschke’s theorem and Wedderburn’s structure theorems, which concretely describe the structure of finite-dimensional associative algebras. Although more than 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water, only 3% is freshwater. and less than 1% is suitable for drinking. In this context, the advancement of new technologies for treating wastewater from various sectors of society, such as the coffee agroindustry, is crucial for economic and environmental development. Coffee, being the second most consumed beverage globally, generates a significant amount of wastewater during its wet processing, resulting in the discharge of effluents containing high levels of organic compounds, such as phenolic compounds, which, if improperly discarded, can cause serious environmental damage. Among these compounds, chlorogenic acid stands out. Thus, this project aims to develop activated carbon with iron nanoparticles from sugarcane bagasse for the treatment of wastewater from the coffee agroindustry, as well as to study its morphological and physicochemical properties. For the preparation of activated carbon containing magnetic iron nanoparticles, sugarcane bagasse was used as the raw material, which was mixed with a polymer produced by a modified Pechini method. After mixing the sugarcane bagasse with the polymer, the material was subjected to physical activation. Thus, the combination of the adsorptive properties of activated carbon with the characteristics of the magnetic properties of the nanoparticles incorporated into the material may significantly simplify the separation and reuse of the adsorbent from the reaction environment. These operations are crucial since the economic viability of the process is directly linked to its regeneration and reuse. The results indicate that the material developed possesses an excellent adsorption capacity for the removal of phenol and chlorogenic acid used as a model molecule. This study aimed to agronomically characterize pumpkin lines (Cucurbita moschata) with the intention of developing new varieties of tetsukabuto hybrids. The experiment was conducted in the field from April to August 2019, using a randomized block design with 4 replications and 6 treatments: 10590 RL, 10595 RC, 10596 RC, 10598 RC, 10601 RC, and 10604 RC. Quantitative traits evaluated included fruit height, length, weight, BRIX index, flesh thickness, and seed quantity, as well as qualitative traits such as presence of ribs, fruit color, flesh color, and stem length. The line 10596 RC exhibited the highest BRIX index (18.92), indicating the greatest sweetness, while the line 10604 RC stood out for having the highest fruit weight (2219 g), potentially coupled with greater flesh thickness. In qualitative terms, the line 10595 RC was the only one not to present ribbed fruits in 100% of the samples, facilitating peeling, while the line 10590 RL was notable for having long stems in 100% of the plants, which may hinder plant density. The material was developed by the Brazilian Federal Attorney General’s Office and disseminates, for managers of federal public institutions and locations and companies that have contracts with the public service, actions to be taken in cases such as sexual violence and harassment and crimes that discriminate against sexual dignity. The theoretical framework adopted is the Bakhtinian perspective and studies on translation and interpretation of sign language (ETILS). Through the description of the translation choices and strategies from the Portuguese language in written and oral form to Libras in gesture-visual form, annotated translation is explored as an academic genre in the training process of Libras-Portuguese translators and interpreters. Given the complexity of the translation work and the absence, at times, of specific sign-terms, the vulnerability that still exists in the deaf community in relation to basic information on the subject, such as identifying the crime, reporting it and preventing it, becomes evident.
