O papel da mulher na manutenção de uma relação violenta: perspectivas da psicanálise

Abstract

Violence against women is widely recognized as a social and public health issue that significantly impacts society and the quality of life of its victims. This issue has been the subject of numerous investigations due to the alarming increase in daily cases and the complexity of the factors involved. It is a multifaceted phenomenon that encompasses psychological and cultural aspects as well as relational dynamics. In this context, the present study investigates the contributions of women to the maintenance of the cycle of a violent relationship, placing them in a position of co-participation in an intimate relationship where they remain in a situation of violence that often escapes the field of consciousness. Among the most significant aspects, we observe, through Freudian psychoanalytic theory, concepts of womanhood and femininity beyond symptoms and conscious manifestations. Thus, the objective of this monographic research was to understand the unconscious processes that lead women to (actively) remain in such relationships despite the suffering, negative repercussions, and violence inflicted upon their lives. As a further development, we also examined how female subjectivity is impacted by the historical construction of patriarchy.
